Liberty Middle School Basketball Cheer Try Out Packet Forms are due no later than August 26 th, 2016.

Dear Interested Cheerleaders and Parents, At Liberty Middle School, we have two separate squads: Football/ Competition and Basketball. The competition cheer squad attends local, state, and national competitions and cheers at football games. The basketball cheer squad attends summer camps, cheers for the basketball games and pep rallies. In order to try out for either squad, the student must be enrolled at Liberty Middle School for the 2016-2017 school year. Cheerleading is a very time-consuming activity and will require a lot of time outside of school hours. Attendance is mandatory at all cheerleader activities. Parents also must accept the monetary obligations. There will be a mandatory parent meeting after the selection of the 2016-2017 cheerleaders. The $125.00 uniform usage fee is required at this meeting. Being a basketball cheerleader also requires a time and monetary commitment. We practice three days a week during the summer and fall. The season lasts from October until the end of January. During the season, we often cheer two to three nights a week for four teams. We also travel to away games which requires late nights on buses. We participate in at least one school-wide pep rally. The majority of games will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights. Being part of the basketball cheer squad has many rewards. Valuable experiences include teamwork, determination, encouragement by peers, development of friendships, increased self-confidence, learning to set and meet individual short and long-term goals, cultivating tumbling skills, and improving physical conditioning. One of our many goals is to prepare the cheerleader for future cheerleading at the high school level. In return, the school gains pride, school spirit, and leadership through their participation. We are delighted to offer your child the opportunity to join one of the finest organizations at our school. We look forward to a successful and great year. Feel free to contact the coach below with any questions or clarifications. Please read the entire application packet, and then both candidate and a parent guardian must sign the required places including the physical and medical releases. Forms must be turned in no later than August 26 th, 2016. If you have any questions, please contact me. Thanks!
