The unconditional love between a pet and their human is a unique bond, not found elsewhere. Research indicates that the therapeutic benefits of animal-human friendships may be both physical and emotional: Increased comfort Decreased anxiety More smiling and moments of joy Enhanced communication and engagement Reduced feelings of loneliness and isolation Released endorphins for a calming effect For seniors struggling with life events beyond their control, an affectionate nuzzle or lick from a fuzzy companion could be just what the doctor ordered! This month, join us to partake in some PET THERAPY fun! Pet Therapy As we fall into the season of Harvest and Plenty, it is time to acknowledge our gratitude. We are blessed with a bounty of love, friendship and trust. At Spring Hills Morristown, the Staff and I will continue to work to earn those gifts. We are fortunate to have Barbara Brand our Director of Resident Care, share her Medical Knowledge for Breast Cancer Awareness on October 5th, 2017 at am. The Residents will be enjoying pumpkin carving, a hay ride and baking apple pies this month! Our Pawfest is scheduled for Saturday, October 21st, at 1pm. The ever popular Doggie Fashion Show and Costume Contest are sure to be a delight. Please come with your favorite pooch! Spring Hills Morristown is celebrating our October Fest Celebration with music, games, entertainment from residents and staff and refreshments. We are serving Non-alcoholic beer and pretzels. We will finish the festivities with our Annual Halloween Costume Party on October 31 at pm. Please join the Residents, Staff and Families for Treats and Prizes. Bruce entertains everyone with his easy Latin instructions, yoga movements and relaxing techniques, and learn a dance or two October 5th, 2017 at a Breast Cancer Awareness with Barbara Residents will have a chance to ask Barbara any questions they would like about Breast Cancer, which is the second most common kind of cancer in women. She was born on March 29th, 1945 from Newark New Jersey. Her mother Madeline Dillon was a house wife, and father Henry Dillon was a chief electrician in Newark. Madeline has four other siblings by the name of Margaret, Henry, Jimmy, and Davey. Henry is the oldest and Margaret is the youngest. Every year Madeline and her family went to Sea Side Height in New Jersey. Her Uncle and Aunt Suchhowley had a home right on the board walk. They enjoyed going out to eat in many places and also enjoyed going to the movie theatres. Madeline s brothers Henry and Davey were big sport buffs. Madeline Dillon Madeline attended St Michaels High School, and her favorite thing to do was write. After college Madeline took on the responsibility to take care of her mother. Later on in life, Madeline found a job doing secretarial work in a Jewish community located in Orange New Jersey. Madeline has five nieces and nephews whom she loves so much. Before Spring Hills Madeline says she was in a Nursing Home in Orange. With the help of her sister she found Spring Hills. Madeline says that her favorite part of Spring Hills is the activities involving Music. She also enjoys being part of the holiday season Choir, and she just simply says There s nothing like it.
