Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord s resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. 2 Shamrock Newsletter I am completing amazed that in a few days we will be entering May! Please keep our students, who will be receiving holy sacraments, in your prayers. First Communion is this Saturday at 10:00am, and Confirmation is Sunday, May 7 th at 2:30pm. We encourage the entire community to attend the Masses to share in these celebrations. We are so grateful to all the priests, faculty, family and friends who have guided and educated our students to receive these most holy sacraments. Also please keep the fabulous Class of 2017, in your prayers as they complete their educational journey at St. A's. They will be wearing sweatshirts / colors of the high school they will be attending next school year. Every Friday, through May, is a free dress day for 8th graders sporting their new school colors or shirts! Welcome back Mrs. Fidler! We love seeing Lucy and are thrilled to have you back!!! Easter Blessings, Connie Howard SCHOOL NEWS The Alemany Council Knight of Columbus is offering scholarship tuition grants to several eighth grade students who are members of the Catholic Community in Napa and who will enroll at a local Catholic High School. As a Catholic organization we will like to help eligible students to further their schooling to alleviate some portion off the financial obligations. Deadline is April 29, 2017 Italian Catholic Federation Branch #12, is offering one $500 scholarship to an 8 th grade student who will be attending a Napa Valley Catholic High School in the fall. Deadline is May 16, 2017. St. John s Institute #26, YLI is offering three scholarships to 8 th grade students who will be attending a Napa Valley Catholic High School in the fall. Deadline is May 26, 2017. If interested, please pick up a copy of these applications in the school office.

3 Shamrock Newsletter SCRIP NEWS The 2016/17 Scrip year will close this Sunday. Please note that your totals on SchoolSpeak have only been updated through the 3 rd quarter. The 4 th quarter totals will be posted next week. If you have a balance owed you will be billed. If you have an overage, 50% of this will be credited to your May tuition or pending registration. SPORTS NEWS The 8th Annual Twilight Track Meet Returns! The St. A s Track & Field Team invites all of you to attend this great meet on Friday, May 5 th at 4:00PM. Nearly 450 athletes from 8 schools will compete at Justin Siena in this one of a kind track meet, which is hosted by our school. Our very own 7 th grade class will be hosting a tasty snack bar at the meet, so come join the fun and cheer on our entire team of track athletes! We hope to see you there! CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS EARN HOURS AT THE MEET! The Twilight Track Meet is approaching at sprinters pace and we would so appreciate your help. St. A s hosts this meet and it requires a large number of volunteers to manage. Please sign up on SchoolSpeak to help! Older siblings can definitely volunteer as well Thank you! PROGRAM ADS - The meet has a fun program with the Twilight event records. The ad space helps us to offset the cost of the meet, and is open to good luck ads to athletes or business ads. These are due May 2 nd if interested. Ad form is attached. Thank you!

4 Shamrock Newsletter St. A s Cheer Camp! Back again this summer! St. A s Cheer Camp, open to all girls grades 2 nd -8 th (students must be entering 2 nd grade in the 2017/18 school year). Girls will learn cheer fundamentals, teambuilding, sideline cheers and a dance routine to be performed during a spirit rally. No dance or cheer experience necessary! Where: St. A s Gym When: August 14th-16th Time: 9-12pm Cost: $55* (Cost includes cheer t-shirt and pom-poms) Please complete athletic registration form (in school office, circle cheerleading) and submit payment to the school office, no later than June 15 th. *8 th grade girls who sign up for cheer team for the 2017/2018 school year will NOT be charged for the camp For questions, contact Jessica Martin at jjoymartin@gmail.com. 5 Shamrock Newsletter CHURCH NEWS 100 th YEAR CELEBRATION OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA ~ SPECIAL EVENTS OUR LADY OF FATIMA VISITS OUR CHILDREN - Beginning May 1st, the statue of Our Lady of Fatima will travel, making special appearances in each class at St. A s School and on May 8th & 9th to the children in our Religious Education program. FATIMA WALK BEGINS MONDAY MAY 1 st - Join the children through our virtual parish walk to Portugal to discover the story and mystery of Fatima. On our website find a daily message from the apparition of the Angel / Our Lady of Fatima, join in prayer and learn more as the story of Fatima unfolds day by day. THURSDAY MAY 11 th 11:00 AM ST. A S SCHOOL MASS all parishioners are welcome to come to a special procession, Mass and crowning of Mary with the Marian Sisters joining the children in prayer and song. THURSDAY MAY 11 th, 6:30 PM DATE NIGHT AT THE MOVIES featuring movies for young and old on the story of Fatima. Watch The Thirteenth Day. While parents enjoy the film, children K-4 th grade will watch the animated feature The Day the Sun Danced, enjoy popcorn and have lots of fun activities. SATURDAY, MAY 13 th. 8:45 AM - MASS AND THE CROWNING OF MARY marks the 100th Anniversary of the First Appearance of Our Lady. All First Communion and Confirmation youth are invited to join in the Mass procession and crowning of Mary in her honor.
