TO: Fall Baseball Coaches and Regional Tournament Managers FROM: Todd Dilbeck, Assistant SUBJECT: 2018 Fall Baseball Regional Tournament Information and Brackets DATE: Monday, September 24, 2018 1. All tournaments are to be played, unless weather dictates otherwise or if changes are made by mutual agreement. *Changes of times and dates may be made by mutual agreement. *Notify the OSSAA office if any changes are made. 2. All tournaments will be played under the ten (10) run rule after five complete innings. 3. There cannot be a suspended game after a game is complete. (Example: after the top half of the 5 th inning, home team s score is 4 and visitor s score is 3. Inclement weather causes the game to be stopped, which cannot be resumed. This is a complete game.) 4. In district, bi-district and regional tournaments a Designated Pitch Count Recorder shall be designated by the host school (DPCR). (At the state level, OSSAA will provide a DPCR.) 1. During the game, pitch counts will be recorded by the DPCR and are to be reviewed between innings. Any discrepancy shall be settled by the DPCR without umpire involvement and that record shall be considered final. 2. A protest over a discrepancy in pitch counts discovered in a later inning from an earlier inning in the game will not be permitted due to end of inning verification. 3. At game s conclusion both head coaches or designated representatives will verify pitch count in the official book. 4. Any discrepancy found after the game will be reported to the OSSAA. 5. The use of a pitcher not eligible to pitch by the pitch count restrictions shall constitute the use of an ineligible player and result in contest forfeiture and a one-game suspension for the head coach. Only OSSAA may declare a forfeit. 5. Each coach is responsible for knowing the pitching rule. Refer to 2018-2019 OSSAA Baseball Manual, page BA3, paragraph IV, sub-paragraph A, B, C, D and E. 6. There will be a limit of ten (10) minutes per team for infield practice. Home team shall be determined by coin toss for each regional game.
