Each player stands in a circle. The objective is to push or pull each other out of the circle without stepping out of your own. First player to 5 wins. 6U/8U - AGILITY & BALANCE IRISH DANCE 6U/8U - AGILITY & BALANCE IRISH DANCE Use soccer ball, plyo box or bleacher step. Stand tall maintaining an upright position. Alternate tapping bottom of feet on top of the ball. Perform as many touches as possible in time allowed. Players should make this into a competition with themselves and teammates. Each repetition player should try to beat their last score (number of touches). ADVANCED Use a soccer ball. With toe on the ball hop in a circle both ways. Hop alternating right foot and left foot taps while moving in a circle. Keep repetitions to 0-0 seconds of active time followed by 0-0 seconds of recovery time.
4 6U/8U -CORE & BACK ROCK CLIMBING Start on all fours. Bear Crawl the cliff by moving opposite feet and hands walking on all fours forward. Watch out for snakes and cactus. Walk laterally to the left 0 feet and then to the right 0 feet. To get up over the lip of the rocks, stop and walk hands forward then hop feet to hands. Repeat this movement times. Stickhandle ball out in front of body from cone to cone. Stickhandle ball on left side of body from cone to cone. Stickhandle ball on right side of body from cone to cone. Soft Touch 0-0 Seconds in each range and repeat. TECHNIQUE Feet are shoulder width apart. Head and chest up. Hands are closer together within a standard range. Tight grip with top hand. Loose grip with bottom hand. Arms loose and away from body. Emphasis is on wrist movement, not arm movement. Cup ball on forehand and backhand side of blade. Use split vision to survey surroundings and the ball. ADVANCED Quicker touches, look up at coach, walk around stickhandling and avoiding other players.
6U/8U - RUNNING & JUMPING 6U/8U - RUNNING & JUMPING Stand with knees slightly bent. Squat down with hands by sides. Explode up into the air into the shape of a star, extending arms and legs out. Before landing, pull legs and arms back together so feet touch ground shoulder width apart. Drop back into squat position and repeat. Complete 5 repetitions without rest. Stand in a position with feet together and arms down by side. Jump spreading legs and swinging arms to the sides. Jump crossing legs and crossing arms in front of chest. Jump spreading legs and swinging arms to the sides. Jump swing opposite arm and leg in front (carioca movement). Repeat. Perform Star Jumps or Scissor Jacks moving forward 0 yards. Perform Star Jumps or Scissor Jacks moving laterally 0 yards. All players perform Star Jumps or Scissor Jacks moving in a circle. Players work on timing while avoiding running into each other.
6U/8U - PASSING, RECEIVING & SHOOTING PARTNER PASSING Players partner up. Stand 8-0 feet apart. Using forehand pass a hockey ball back and forth with partner. Forehand 0x. Backhand 0x. 6U/8U - PASSING, RECEIVING & SHOOTING PARTNER PASSING GAME Players who reach 0 forehand tape to tape passes (can t use backhand to receive) win. Players who reach 0 backhand tape to tape passes (can t use forehand) win. TECHNIQUE Receiver presents a full target with the stick blade. Reduce grip tension in the bottom hand to cushion the ball with a short catch using the hands and wrist. Feet are parallel to partner to allow for cross body passing. Begin with ball behind the back foot on the heel of the blade. Sweep the ball toward partner, using the push/pull action with the hands and a low follow through pointing stick at target. Transfer weight from back leg to front leg as the ball is swept.
