KOHL CENTER BTN PLUS/FLOHOOPS 100.9 FM Wisconsin had a record-breaking performance against Savannah State on Sunday, setting three school records in the 82-24 victory. The Badgers held the Tigers to the fewest points in a game (24), lowest field goal percentage (.133) and fewest assists (2). The Badgers also set four season highs against Savannah State. UW had a season high 58 rebounds, outrebounding the Tigers by 31 boards, and tied their season high with 22 assists. UW also had a season high six blocks and a season-high nine steals. Senior Cayla McMorris played in her 100th career game against Savannah State on Sunday. The 6-0 guard had 11 points and six rebounds in the contest. McMorris has started 56 games in the Cardinal and White, averaging 8.8 points and 3.7 rebounds for her career. Against SSU, five Badgers scored in double figures for the first time since Nov. 9, 2017 vs. Nebraska. Marsha Howard recorded her third career double-double with a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds. Suzanne Gilreath added 12 points while Cayla McMorris and Courtney Fredrickson both chipped in 11 points. Kendall Shaw had a season-high 10 points. Wisconsin leads the Big Ten in defensive rebounds allowing only 32.3 boards per game. UW has outrebounded eighth opponents this season. The Badgers also lead the conference in defensive rebound percentage (.746) UW has 332 defensive rebounds and 487 rebounds on the season. The Badgers are 5-1 at home this season, equaling the last three seasons home victories. Wisconsin was 5-10 in the Kohl Center last season, 5-9 in 2015-16 and 5-8 at home in 2014-15. UW needs only two more wins to equal last season s overall wins. Wisconsin is outscoring opponents 198-160 (16.5 to 13.3 points) in the first quarter alone. UW held Savannah State to just four points in the first quarter on Sunday, the fewest points by an opponent in a quarter this season. It also ties for the fourth fewest points in a quarter all time. Over the last three games, UW is averaging 19.7 assists per game, tallying 22 dimes against UTRGV and Savannah State. Sophomore Kendra Van Leeuwen is averaging 5.7 assists per game over the stretch. DOUBLE TROUBLE Wisconsin has a two-headed monster in their lineup, wreaking havoc to opposing teams in the hoop and boards. Senior Cayla McMorris has three doubledoubles this season while junior Marsha Howard also has three double-doubles. Sophomore Courtney Fredrickson adds one double-double this season. McMorris had 21 points and 13 rebounds vs. Southern on Nov. 20, 14 points and 10 rebounds vs. La Salle on Dec. 2, and 20 points and 10 rebounds at Butler on Dec. 8. Milwaukee (7-2) Milwaukee is 7-2 on the season and is on a seven-game winning streak a er losing its first two games of the season to Drake (77-73) and Houston (74-59).
