Pre Race Details Cuda Foremarke Junior Triathlon Foremarke Hall School in Milton, South Derbyshire, DE65 6EJ Foremarke Hall Junior Triathlon Saturday 2nd July 2016 Supported by: Pre-race information please read carefully Welcome to the 3rd staging of the Cuda Foremarke Hall Junior Triathlon located in Milton, South Derbyshire. This is a BTF sanctioned event and is promoted by PMA Racing and is part of the East Midlands Regional Series (Round 5). Please take the time to carefully study the pre-race information to ensure you have a smooth and enjoyable day. Start times The event will start at 1:00pm with the TriStart s, followed by the TriStar 2, Youth, TriStar 1 and finally TriStar 3. The Age Group start times are listed below and you will be given a designated start time, which we will aim to adhere to so please arrive on the pool side at least 10 minutes before your designated start time. Tristart 1:00pm (50M Swim/1K Bike/600M Run) Tristar 2-1:40pm (200M Swim/4K Bike/1.8K Run) Youth 3:00pm (400M Swim/8K Bike/3K Run) Tristar 1 4:00pm (150M Swim/2K Bike/1.2K Run) Tristar 3 5:15pm (300M Swim/6K Bike/2.4K Run)
Venue The event will be based at Foremarke Hall School in Milton, South Derbyshire, which is located on the main Ingleby Road and is easily accessible from the A50 and A38. The address is:- Foremarke Hall Repton Preparatory School Milton Derbyshire. DE65 6EJ Car Parking Please access the grounds using the main Foremarke Hall entrance and not the HGV side entrance and follow the road through the grounds towards the swimming pool. You will then be directed to the field behind the Sports Hall and there will be a short walk to the Transition/Registration area. We will be operating a one way system and cars should exit the car parking through the field and onto the side road before getting onto the main school drive. Registration Race registration will be in the PMA marquee close to the Transition area and will be clearly signposted. Registration will be open from 11:30am until 4.00pm on Saturday. Please ensure that you register at least 45 minutes before your allocated start time. Please show your BTF membership licence if you have paid the reduced BTF members fee. If BTF members cannot provide a licence be prepared to pay the 2 levy to ensure race day insurance. Registration Pack Upon registering you will receive your timing chip (which you should attach to your left ankle), race numbers (2), bike and helmet sticker (to be placed on the front), t-shirt, BTF day license for non members and you will be able to collect pins for your race number. You will have your race number written on your hand in black marker pen. Your race numbers need to be attached to your top on the front for the run and back for the bike or a race belt can be worn however you MUST turn them so you have a number on your back for the bike and front for the run. The helmet sticker must be stuck on the front of the helmet as well as the bike sticker on your bike. Entry into transition will not be allowed until this is done. Feed Stations There will be feed stations on the run on the run out and during the run for each age-group with water only. Parents We realise parents can get very excited, but please bear in mind the event is for the children to enjoy themselves. Please do not follow you child on any sections of the course as this will only make it harder for marshals. Transition Area (Opens at 12:00pm) The transition area is located behind the hall on the large sports field and will be sign posted. This is where you will leave your race kit for both the run and bike sections to change (run shoes and top, shorts (if not wearing a trisuit), a roadworthy bike and an approved cycle helmet. The racking is numbered and competitors must rack accordingly. The race will be running between 1:00pm to 6:30pm so please be considerate to your fellow competitors whilst they are taking part to avoid any congestion. Parents/guardians will not be allowed in transition. A marshal will help competitors in the transition area should they need assistance. What to wear Everyone must wear either a top/shorts or trisuit/costume. Swim Bike Run Trunks, swim costume or Trisuit, goggles (not compulsory) Roadworthy bike and an approved helmet T-shirt, vest which you will need to attach your number to or you can use a race number belt (essential if wearing a trisuit), shoes, shorts, socks (if required), towel if you want to dry off before putting trainers on.
The Race Swim Competitors should report to the poolside at least 10 minutes before your start time to allow for lane allocation and to receive your swim hat. Swimmers will start in waves of 6 at regular intervals and are responsible for counting their own number of lengths (there will be a checker poolside doing random checks). Upon exiting the water you should throw your cap in the bucket. Tristart 50m 2 lengths Tristar1 150m 6 lengths Tristar2 200m 8 lengths Tristar3 300m 12 lengths Youth 400m 16 lengths If you get into difficulty during the swim you can gain assistance from the walls or lane ropes Swim to Bike Transition You will get out of the pool at the end at which you started and exit through the emergency exit at the midway point of the pool and follow the fenced path to the Transition area. Please do not run poolside Transition Bikes must be racked against your designated number and left with all your bike & run kit. There will be marshals assisting but you must ensure that your helmet is clipped before unracking your bike. Cycling within the transition area is strictly forbidden and you will not be allowed on your bike until after the mount line. The Tristart AG will complete one small loop and the other Age-Groups will all do the same big laps. Tristart 1K (1 small lap) Tristar1 2K (1 large lap) Tristar2 4K (2 large laps) Tristar3 6K (3 large laps) Youth 8K (4 large laps) The bike course is a mixed terrain of grass, wood (very small section) and tarmac so an off road bike (mountain bike or cyclo cross bike) is recommended. Run section The run section will be fully marshalled. The run will be one lap (out and back) for all age groups apart from Tristar3 & Youth which will be 2 laps again out and back. Tristar3 & Youth competitors will be given a band at the end of the first lap. When you have finished 2 laps run to the finish line. Tristart 600m - out and back Tristar1 1.2k - out and back Tristar2 1.8k - out and back by the marshall. Tristar3 2.4km - out and back X2 Youth 3.0km - out and back X2 At the end of the event all competitors will receive their well deserved medal!! Changing Facilities The pool changing areas are available to competitors. Please do not leave clothing and belongings in these areas. Toilets There will be a number of toilets located near to the Transition area and these will be clearly sign posted. Race Briefing There will be two mandatory race briefings only:- Tri start & TriStar 2 will be at 12.40pm Youth briefing will be at 2:40pm TriStar1 & TriStar3 will be at 3:40pm It is recommended that you take this opportunity to listen to specific instructions where you can ask any last minute questions.
Photography This event is being run in accordance with the BTF s Child Protection Policy. As such, anyone (parents, friends, coaches etc) wishing to take photos or videos at this event will be required to register (at registration) and wear identification through the race. Sports Sunday will be in attendance and will provide free of charge photo s to all competitors, these will be available to download mid week following the race at www.sportsunday.co.uk Spectators Spectators will be allowed on the pool side via the main pool entrance only and not via the exit door as this will be used for the swim exit. No spectators will be allowed in transition or on the bike/run course and we ask that they avoid obstructing competitors or signs. Medical Advice Please write all medical details and emergency contact numbers on the form, which is on the back of your race number. Whether you have a medical condition or not, if you feel unwell on race day don t race! Event Rules The race is run in accordance with the BTF rules, which can be seen on their website www.britishtriathlon.org or phone BTA HQ on 01509 226161. There will be a BTF race referee present throughout the day and any penalties will be at his discretion, these will be listed in the registration area. Support This may be many children s first ever event, so please make this day one to remember for all children competing and make a big effort to cheer and encourage them. Refreshments Hot/cold drinks and light snacks will be available from 12:00pm near to the finish line. Prizes and Presentation We hope to have the prize presentation at approximately 3:00pm near to the finish area for TriStarts & TriStar2 Age- Groups and approx. 6.30pm for the Youths, TriStar1 & TriStar3 categories. Please remember that all marshals are volunteers and are giving up their free time so that you can have a safe and enjoyable race. Marshals will ensure competitors successfully complete the event and provide any assistance to the competitors whilst they are competing Make sure that you and your parent/guardian attend the briefing session. There may be last minute changes you need to be aware of.
