The Cyber Safety Information night has been postponed until next term, as the students have so much more to learn and want to do an exceptional presentation! Last most of the students in years 3-6 travelled to Goroke for the Kowree Swimming Sports. The reports I received was all the students did an amazing job and put in 110%. A huge thank you to Desiree and Michelle for taking the students and helping out with the events. On Tuesday we have our School Council AGM at 7.30 at school. We have quite a few nominations to form our new school council, which is wonderful to see, with parents taking an interest in the school and their child s education. I look forward to working with you all in making decisions for our school and the direction it takes. Which also leads me in to the discussion of the school review. I have been busy collecting, collating and preparing documents along with staff for this process that begins first day next term. Brian Collins, our reviewer will travel from Wodonga to visit the school and have a couple of indepth days looking at everything that is going on here at the school, along with two challenge partners Ingrid Clarkson (Natimuk PS) Jane McLean (EIL) and my boss Joanna Day. I believe that he would also like to speak to School Council Members as well as school community parents. This date is yet to be confirmed. All families were sent home some raffle tickets to sell for the SRC - Easter Raffle. Could these please be returned ASAP. This will be drawn on the last day of school. Just a reminder also school finishes at 2.30pm on Thursday 29th On Thursday the 22 we will have Parent Teacher interview and the booking form is attached to this newsletter. Please fill out the time slot that you would prefer and we will try and work around that. First in best dressed! There will be a parent club meeting on Wednesday 28 th at 7pm at the hotel. It would be great to get as many parents as possible there to help make some decisions of fundraising ideas. Apologies can be made to Paula Ellul. On Tuesday 27 th March the junior students in Foundation are going to be doing a range of Easter activities with the Apsley Alligators at the park. Once a term we like to do this, so the younger children familiar with our students.
It has been bought to my attention about some bad behaviour on our school buses. I have spoken to all the students about this. Some students are walking around on the bus, while it is driving, using loud voices that distract the drivers as well as just general naughtiness Could all parents please have a discussion with their children about this. If it does continue students will be suspended from the bus for a week and parents will have to drive their children to school, which I am sure would be an inconvenience for all! Students must wear seat belts at all times and keep noise to a minimum so the driver can concentrate on getting our students and your children home safely. On Monday 26th March the students will travel to Goroke for a Health and Wellbeing day, including a visit to the Life Ed Van. Permission forms will be sent home next week. Our After School Activities- Swimming will end on Wednesday 28th March. A huge thank you must go to Nikiesha for organising the program and to Mr Bruce, Mr M, Eloise, Brooke and Erin for supervising and helping. Next term we are doing Karate on Tuesday nights. Tanya Turner Goroke Swimming Sports Last Damon, Haydon, Charlotte, Sophie, Phoebe and Sienna all went over to Goroke to compete at the Goroke Swimming Sports, it was the biggest team we have ever had, for many it was their first time competing. When we arrived we all got ready while the medley relays were on. After the medley relays the 50m freestyle started we had no students participating in any of the 50m. As the 25 m freestyle started. Sienna was the first from Apsley to compete. Then was Damon who placed 1st with the next heat Haydon was third. Sophie was the next who placed in 4th. Charlotte and Phoebe swam their hardest and nearly got a placing. As the backstroke started Sienna placed 2nd. Damon also placed 2nd in backstroke by.03. Haydon was in the same race and just missed out on 4th, Charlotte also doing her best nearly coming 4th. Then was Damon and Haydon did their Breaststroke, Damon placing 2nd and Haydon placing just out of 4th. Damon did butterfly coming in 1st. Lastly Apsley had a relay doing our best missing out of 5th. Overall we came in 5th place ahead of Natimuk. By Damon Grigg Congratulations to Steve and Julie Bruce on becoming Grandparents for the first time.
