9 46th Horse of the Year Show incorporating EV State Show Horse & Rider Titles BARASTOC 2015 WHAT HAS CHANGED What you need to know Many changes have been put in place for Barastoc 2015. The 2015 program has been revised and condensed into TWO days; Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th February 2015. Barastoc 2015 will continue to incorporate a breeds showcase, along with Newcomer classes and the reinstatement of the coveted *Equestrian Victoria Showhorse and Rider State Titles. (*official qualifying event for the Equestrian Australia Australasian Show Horse & Rider Championships to be held at WPNEC in December 2015) Saturday 14th February: Buckskins, Carriage Driving, Newcomer Show Hunter & Newcomer Saddle Classes, Palomino, Pinto, Pony Dressage, Showhunter Saddle Classes and Working Hunters. Sunday 15th February: APSB, HRCAV Showing, Junior/Intermediate/Senior Riding, Gahan Trophy, Leading Rein Pony, Saddle Shetland, Saddle Pony, Saddle Galloway, Saddle Hack, Victoria Racing Off the Track class, Welsh Pony and Native sections. The event is to be run under EA rules insofar as they are applicable to this event and shall include any other rules formulated by the organising committee. We strongly recommend that all competitors obtain a copy of the relevant EA Rules through the EV website www.equestrianvic.com.au. It is recommended that competitors print a copy of their Entry form and bring this with them to the event, along with a copy of a valid height certificate, horses registration/s and membership card/s. 1. Entries Open: Wednesday 24th December 2014. 2. Entries Close: Friday 16th January 2015 at 4.00pm. Enter via www.nominate.com.au and follow the links to the Barastoc Show. OR via an official paper entry form (separate attachment to this schedule). Paper entries will incur an additional handling and administration fee of $10 per exhibitor Enter via Post to: Barastoc Entries, Equestrian Victoria, PO Box 616, Werribee, VIC 3030. NO FAX or LATE entries accepted. 3. Refund Policy: Entry fees will not be refunded after the close of entries. Scratching prior to the close of entries will incur a $20 administration fee. No refunds/scratching or substituting after entries close. 4. Registration of Horses All horses /ponies competing in must be EA registered /or with a recognized Breed society at time of entry and competition. Refer EACH sections Conditions of entry re horse registration. NOTE: Horse registration numbers and copies of certificates will be required to be submitted with entries. 5. Insurance & Membership. The Equestrian Australia membership number must be shown on the entry form, in the space provided. 6. Level of Membership - Entrants for the 2015 Barastoc Horse of the Year Equestrian Victoria Show Horse & Rider state title classes must be an EV COMPETITOR member. Please refer to Equestrian Victoria website under Rules, Regs and forms National Membership Structure for clarification. ALL OTHER classes are open to EV COMPETITOR OR PARTICIPANT level members. This regulation is NOT applicable to Breed, Carriage Driving or HRCAV classes. All Owners, riders or handlers must comply with the membership requirements. Interstate riders are not permitted to ride at the Equestrian Victoria Show Horse & Rider State titles in EA Australia Show Horse & Rider Championship qualifying events. 7. Event Operation Fee - All competitors must pay the compulsory, non refundable event operation fee of $20 Per exhibitor at the time of entry. This fee encompasses compulsory medical services, infrastructures, security and event office administration during the event. 8. Facility Fee Exhibitors will be required to pay a compulsory Facility Fee of $16.00 per horse/pony entered, per day. This fee will be passed onto the Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre. 9. Stabling. All enquiries can be made by visiting www.wpnec.com.au or by phoning Werribee Park on (03) 9741 7672. Stable booking form is attached. Additional forms can be downloaded from WPNEC website or www.vic.equestrian.org.au Stables must not be on sold. 10. Medication Control of horses will take place in accordance with the Equestrian Australia Equine Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Regulations (1st edition, effective 5 April 2010 and updates). Compulsory medication control fee of $10 per horse and/or rider class is applicable (exception Sections 6 & Section 9 and Breed classes)

Horses and Ponies not holding a current EV/EA Measurement Certificate must present for measuring prior to competition at times designated by the committee these dates will be communicated prior to the competition. H e i g h t c e r t i f i c a t e s m u s t b e a b l e t o b e p r o d u c e d o n t h e d a y. In the event of a height variation, an exhibit will be transferred to the correct class. 12. Exhibit Numbers. Exhibit Numbers will be supplied by the Organising Committee. Exhibitors will be required to collect their Exhibit Numbers from the Secretary s Office on arrival. Exhibitors will be issued with their paid copy of the Program, when collecting Exhibit Numbers. 13. Handler s Attire. Horses may be held in Ring centre during preliminary judging, however handlers must be correctly dressed. Handlers wearing shorts and thongs, or tracksuits will not be permitted into the ring. 14. Whips. The maximum length for whips is 75 cm, including flaps. 15. Costume. When riding ponies 14 hands & under riders must wear jodhpurs and short boots, except in Dressage. 16. Newcomers. Must not have competed prior to 1st May 2014. Horses and ponies must be EV registered at the time of entry (unregistered horses will not be accepted). Newcomers may enter the open section under the following conditions: horses/ponies must be registered with EV for 3 months and domiciled in Victoria for 3 months. Refer to rule 2.4/2.4.1 of EA National Show Horse Rules effective 1.6.2014. 17. EA Australiasian Show Horse & Rider Championships 2015. Winners and runners up in Classes 12-25 & 27-34 inclusive will be expected to represent Victoria at the 2015 EA Australiasian Show Horse & Rider Championships. 3rd Placegetters will be invited to compete if a position becomes available. 18. Class Restrictions. Horses are to be shown as either Open or Hunter with the exceptions that both types are eligible to compete in the Leading Rein (Class 27). 19. Workouts. Set workouts will be advised for Classes 12-25 & 27-34 inclusive. And shall be published on the website following close of entries. 20. Prizes. All prizes must be collected on the day, if not you therefore forfeit your prize. 21. Qualifications. Horses entered in Section 2, Classes 12-18 inclusive & Section 5, Classes 27 34 inclusive require qualifications: 1 x Championship OR 2 Reserve Champion Awards, OR 3 x Open wins in relevant class at any affiliated EV accredited show/and OR Agricultural Show; in open or show hunter sections. Qualifications gained in the period - 15th March 2014 until the 16th January 2015 Champions and Runners Up from the 2014 EV State Titles show automatically qualify, however these performances must also be listed in the Performance Section as explained following; QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE LISTED IN THE PERFORMANCE SECTION OF THE ENTRY FORM. ENTRIES WILL BE DEEMED INVALID IF NOT LISTED IN THE AREA PROVIDED AND WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. *(not necessarily applicable to Breed classes, refer to each Breed schedule) 22. CANCELLATION POLICY: If cancellation is required due to existing or predicted severe and dangerous conditions such as Code Red Fire Warnings / Flood or Travel Warnings / Disease Outbreaks a message will be available on 03 9013 0707. 23. REFUND POLICY If an event has commenced there will be no refunds. If an event is cancelled prior to commencement of the event costs incurred by the show committee prior to the show will be paid and remaining funds will be reimbursed to the entrant if the amount per exhibitor is $2 or more. If an event is postponed entry fees will not be refunded without a written request from the exhibitor within 7 days of the notification of postponement. 24. Age of Horses. The minimum age of a horse competing in Saddle Sections is three (3) years of age.

Judges Australian Judges will reside over classes (not necessarily applicable to Breed classes) Judges for Equestrian Victoria Show Horse and Rider State title classes are randomly selected by the National office of Equestrian Australian, from the current EA Show Horse Judges list (as per Rule 4.9.1 EA National Show Horse Rules, 1.6.2014). Eligibility for Championship Awards. In Sections where a Panel of Judges carries out the judging of the Championship Award, the onus is on the owner/exhibitor to ensure the horse and themselves are eligible to compete under any of the Judges concerned. No Judge will stand aside for the judging of a Championship Award. 27. Objections. Any objections or protests must be made in writing and signed, and handed to the secretary with a deposit of AUS$250 4 hours prior to the commencement of the advertised time of the start of the Event (not the class).

9 46th Horse of the Year Show incorporating EV State Show Horse & Rider Titles The Committee or their appointed representative/s shall determine the objection and will call such evidence as they think fit. If the decision goes against the objector, he/she will forfeit his/her deposit of AU$250 and be liable for any expenses occasioned by the objection. Should the objection be allowed by the Committee, the deposit will be refunded. Should the objector wish to appeal the Committee s decision, he/she must lodge an appeal in accordance with the rules of Equestrian Australia.

9 46th Horse of the Year Show incorporating EV State Show Horse & Rider Titles RULES AND REGULATIONS applicable to EV State Title classes ONLY These rules are to be adhered to by the state Organising Committee in the conduct of the State Horse of the Year and Rider Championships and only refer to those classes that qualify horses/riders for the Equestrian Australia Show Horse & Rider Championships. 4.1 The event is to be conducted under the rules and by-laws of Equestrian Australia. 4.2 Horses must be registered with the Equestrian Australia Ltd and owned or leased by a financial member of that State 4.3 Horses can only be shown at State HOTY by a financial member of that State. 4.4 Show Horse, Show Hunter and Leading Rein Classes - All horses must have a current EA Height Certificate. 4.5 Rider of the Year Classes - Riders may only compete in the class for which they are eligible. Age is as at 1 st of January 2015. 4.6 Show Horse, Show Hunter, Leading Rein and Rider of the Year Classes - All riders must be members of EA in the State in which the event is being held. 4.7 Show Horse, Show Hunter and Leading Rein Classes - Horses/Ponies must be currently EA registered and domiciled in that State (including where appropriate within a 100 km radius of a border) for a total period of 3 months immediately preceding the date of that State s Horse of the Year event.. However, if the horse has not competed under saddle (with the exception of horse racing) in any state prior to purchase and is registered and eligible/qualified in the state in which it is to compete by closing date of entries it shall be eligible to compete in that respective state s HOTY Additionally, Horses/Ponies must be EA registered before the close of entries date of that State s Horse of the Year event. 4.8 Interstate HOTY 4.8.1 Show Horse, Show Hunter and Leading Rein - If a horse has competed in a qualifying class at an EA HOTY in the current year in another State it is not eligible to compete in another HOTY in the same calendar year. 4.8.2 Rider Classes - If a rider has competed in an EA HOTY in the current year in a qualifying class in another State they are not eligible to compete in another HOTY in the same calendar year. 4.8.3 Show Hunters if a horse/pony is entered as a Show Hunter at a State HOTY, it will be precluded from entering the State Horse of the Year as a Show Horse 4.9 To judge State Horse of The Year; 4.9.1 Judges must have a minimum of two years experience on a State or National list. 4.9.2 A maximum of two judges from any one state are permitted. Conditions of Entry 46th Horse of the Year Show incorporating EV State Show Horse & Rider Titles SATURDAY 14th February SECTION : ONE HORSELAND NEWCOMER UNDER SADDLE Entry Fee: $30 per class Must not have competed under saddle (with the exception of Racing) prior to 1st May 2014. Newcomers may enter the open section under the following conditions: horses/ponies must be registered with EV for 3 months and domiciled in Victoria for 3 months. A Pony that has only competed in Leading Rein or Miniature Turnouts and has not competed off the lead is eligible to be considered a Newcomer. The horse must be registered with the EA at the time of entry and competition. The horses first competition under saddle must be in the state whose HOTY it will compete in. The owner and rider must be financial members of the EA at time of entry and competition. The horse must have a current EA Height Certificate. The horse must be shown in a snaffle bridle. (Simple eggbutt or loose ring snaffle, jointed or straight). The horse may compete in the relevant State HOTY event as it first competition. The horse may compete in the Open section at the HOTY subject to State/Territory qualifying rules where applicable. Stallions are not eligible to compete. Prizes Winners: Receives a Commemorative sash and Prize pack sponsored by Horseland. Reserve: Receives a Commemorative sash. Finalists will receive a sash. Winners and Runners Up in each class will be expected to represent Victoria at the 2015 EA Australasian Show Horse and Rider Championships to be held at WPNEC in December 2015. Third placegetters, will be invited to compete if a position becomes available. Qualifications: refer Conditions of Entry 21. All riders and owners must be current financial members of EA at the time of entry and on the day of competition. All horses must be registered with EA at the time of entry and on the day of competition. Stallions not eligible. Competitors in this Section are not eligible for Section FIVE (Classes 28-34 inclusive) The age of the rider will be as on the 1st January 2015. Show Hunters are Ponies, Galloways and Hacks with more substance than the modern Riding Pony and Show Hack but still maintaining quality. They are expected to move freely at all paces. Show Hunters may at any time be expected to gallop for the Judge. Show Hunters are not expected to jump. The turnout for Show Hunters is more subdued than that of Show Pony and Hack classes. There should be no coloured browbands on horses or ponies. Prizes The winner of each class will receive an embroidered rug & voucher valued at $100 donated by Malcolm Byrne Master Saddler, commemorative sash and garland. Qualifications: refer Conditions of Entry 21. Ponies ne 12hh Riders to be 5 years and under 8 years old on 1 st January 2015. All Ponies in the Leading Rein Classes must be registered with EA at the time of entry and competition. Show & Hunter ponies are eligible. All breeds eligible. Handlers must be 18years or age or above. All owners/ riders & handlers must be current financial members of EA at the time of entry and on the day of the show.
