Video Summary Traps Traps are found in every part of life and they come in many shapes, sizes and configurations. These traps are not always the type that holds you physically, there are emotional traps, chemical traps, social traps and technological traps, each designed to do one thing; allow entry but deny an exit. In our fast paced media driven society, the distractions that we encounter everyday keep us in a state of vulnerability, exposing each of us to hidden dangers that desire to render our lives, faith and ministry useless. God knows that we need help, supernatural help to navigate life and avoid the traps that have been set for each person by the enemy of our souls, which is the devil. If we will keep our eyes on Jesus, He will help us avoid the traps that have been set, but He is more than willing, to set us free.

Primary Lesson ~ Traps are found in every facet of our lives. We must be aware of them and avoid them. As we explore this idea of trapping or setting traps we will explain different types of traps and its specific function. Some of them are man made and others are naturally occurring. Regardless of who made the trap or what its mode of operation is, one thing remains true, no one wants to get caught in any type of trap; and if you have ever been trapped, you know that getting out of one can be a painful and complicated affair. There are six key points that need to be addressed as we evaluate the landscape of our lives. We must be able to recognize the traps that have been set for our family and us. 1: The enemy pursues you, he watches you and he studies you, trying to find out which bait will be perfect for you. 2: We always seem to think that traps could be just small incidents in our lives, but you have to understand that there are traps designed to do serious damage to us, physically emotionally and spiritually. 3: Sometimes traps can be invisible or disguised in our lives. We have to have the eyes of the spirit in order to avoid potential pitfalls. 4: The enemy will always try and lure you away from the things that are genuine with the things that are counterfeit. 5: In our lives it's human nature to think that each one of us is smarter than the trap. But it's only when we look up at the big picture, do we realize that millions have been falling for the same traps for thousands of years. 6: and finally, there are things in our life that we've been toying with, know that they're not good for us, but still we flirt with danger a little more and a little more until finally, the trap is sprung Facts, Figures & Illustrations- Trapping has been used for centuries to capture animals for food and profit. Steel-Jaw Leg hold Traps- this trap is the most commonly used trap in the United States by commercial and recreational fur trappers. Cage Traps - Cage traps were introduce in the 1920s and 1930s in North America because of opposition to steel traps from animal welfare groups and the public. These traps contain bait

either a live animal or a piece of meat to lure the animal inside Snare Traps- Snares - are categorized as either body/neck or foot snares. They are generally made of light wire cable looped through a locking device or of a small nylon cord tied so that it will tighten as the animal pulls against it. Conibear Traps - The Conibear trap consists of two metal rectangles hinged together midway on the long side to open and close like scissors. One jaw has a trigger that can be baited Each Year, approximately 50 million animals raised on fur farms around the world, which account for the majority of the world s fur production, will be killed for their pelts and it is estimated that yearly more than a billion rabbits are killed for their pelts. In France alone, 70 million rabbits are killed every year for their fur. Trapping Risks - In some cases, animals will try to free themselves at any cost, including knocking out their teeth as they bite on the steel trap and chewing off their own feet. In fact, it is estimated that one in every four animals trapped will succeed in amputating a limb to survive. Complementary Stories "Man held hostage by portable toilet." A Huntingdon Valley man who dropped his keys in a portable toilet became stuck in the facilities while trying to rescue them. He hollered for help for 45 minutes, and eventually children playing in a nearby field heard his cries and alerted their parents. Police were forced to demolish the portable toilet to extricate the man, who had been standing in the human waste without his shoes or pants for an hour and a half. Doctors treated him for cuts and bruises, and removed the toilet seat wedged around his hips. http://darwinawards.com/stupid/stupid2001-10.html

Booby trap backfire Proverbs 26:27- Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them A retired engineer booby-trapped his home with the intention of killing his estranged family, but died himself after inadvertently triggering one of his own devices. At first, police assumed that the 79-year-old had committed suicide, as he was found alone with a bullet wound in his neck. Then a detective missed a bullet by inches when he opened a booby-trapped wooden chest. Police beat a hasty retreat from the property and called in military experts. They deciphered an enigmatic series of scribbled clues to locate 19 death traps in walls, ceilings, and household objects. Police speculate that the notes were intended to assist his failing memory. Other traps included numerous concealed shotguns triggered by threads, and an exploding crate of beer set to detonate once a certain number of bottles were removed. It took three weeks to crack 19 of the 20 clues http://darwinawards.com/darwin/darwin2002-27.html Key Scriptures (From New King James Version, unless otherwise noted) John 8:36~ So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 2 Timothy 2:26~ and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive at his will 1 Timothy 6:9 ~ But they that will be rich shall fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown (trap) men in destruction and perdition. Proverbs 1:17 ~ Amos 3:5 ~ Proverbs 29:5 ~ Proverbs13:14 ~ Psalms 119:110 ~ Surely in vain a net is spread in the sight of any bird. Does a dead bird fall into a trap on the ground when there I no bait in it? Does a trap spring forth from the earth when it captures nothing at all? The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted. The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, to turn aside from the snares (traps) of death. The wicked have laid a snare for me, yet I have not gone astray from your precepts.

Matthew 16:23 ~ Jesus turned and said to Peter. Get behind me Satan! You are an offense to me; you are not mindful of the things of God but the things of men. Discussion Questions 1. Do you recognize the traps that have been set for you? 2. What steps are you taking to avoid them? 3. Everyone has weaknesses in their lives; the enemy can exploit these. Discuss the different types of social traps and how they impact the lives of teens: Gangs-Social media-religion-drugs-sexual deviance -different addictions 6. Jesus is the ony one who can set us free; haev you ever tried to get free with out him? Have you ever tried to help someone else get frre with Hid help? 7. What are prcatical steps that you can take to avoid the traps set for you and your friends
