We have categories for both in hand and ridden, details of which can be found within this pack. All in hand and ridden classes are qualifiers for the TGCA National Championship Show, The Traditional of the Year Show TOYS. Full details can be obtained from the TGCA website, www.tgca.co.uk. This pack contains the following: TGCA Qualifying Class Sections Schedule Wording Rules for holding TGCA Classes TGCA Judges Panel List Event Form Please note no show is affiliated until written confirmation via email, together with the affiliation number is received. Please if possible, return the form via email to avoid delays or loss in the post. A show pack will be sent to you four weeks before your show date. All shows must return the results within 10 days of the show date.
TGCA Qualifying Class Sections All classes are open to all traditional gypsy cobs, which are of any colour and which meet the TGCA breed standard. In Hand Youngstock In Hand Senior Open to fillies colts and geldings aged 1, 2 and 3 Years old Open to mares, stallions and geldings aged 4 years and over, any height. This class can be split into two height classes: Small - Not to exceed 142 cm Large - 142 cm and above. Ridden Ridden Open to mares, stallions and geldings aged 4 years and over. This class can be split into two classes: Small - Not to exceed 142 cm Large - 142 cm and above. We ask that you hold a minimum of one in hand and one ridden class at your shows. You may hold three in hand classes, youngstock, senior small and senior large, and two ridden classes split into small and large if you prefer. TGCA classes may be part of another cob, ie cob type but may not be in coloured classes. If they are part of a type class, this must be clearly stated on the form.
Schedule Wording TGCA In Hand and Ridden Classes Show Number TGCA/00/00/001 unique number will be supplied to the show These classes are qualifiers for the Best of Breed Finals at the Traditional Gypsy Cob Association's (TGCA) National Breed Championship Show TOYS, held annually in September. Full details can be obtained from www.tgca.co.uk. Classes are open to all traditional gypsy cobs. Stallions All stallions (four years and over) in order to enter any TGCA affiliated class, must be licensed with the TGCA prior to the show AND have their TGCA stallion disc displayed on their bridle. Existing TGCA members must present their qualification card to the judge in the ring for signature. Non members will receive a qualification card from the judge and will have 21 days to join the TGCA and to register their horse in order to validate this. TOYS Qualifications will be awarded to the top three youngstock, small senior IH, large senior IH, small ridden, large ridden and to the highest placed junior and restricted exhibitor. Please refer to www.tgca.co.uk for further details including membership, horse registration and showing rules (contained within the members handbook). For those running as a Quest Show The 1st, 2nd and 3rd from the TGCA classes may go forward to the Quest for a Star Championship, provided they are current TGCA members and the horse is registered. Membership cards and qualification cards (specific to that exhibit) must be presented upon entry into the ring. The Champion and Reserve qualify for the Ultimate Star Championships at TOYS.
Rules for Holding TGCA Classes 1. Judges for TGCA classes MUST be chosen from the TGCA Judges Panel. The TGCA reserve the right to refuse classes without a TGCA judge and will do so if there are judges available in the area. The TGCA will assist in providing a judge for your classes. 2. In exceptional circumstances, shows that are approved to run not using a TGCA judge will receive a non panel judge guidelines documents. This must be read by your judge prior to the classes to ensure they are familiar with the TGCA breed standard and showing requirements. 3. All shows will receive a unique show number. This must be put in the schedule wording. 4. Show results for cobs that obtain qualification MUST be returned within 10 days of the show date to the TGCA show secretary, via email shows@tgca.co.uk. If you do not wish to use email, then results may be posted to the Show Secretary at the address at the top of this document. The show number must be quoted. 5. Shows running Quest for a Star Championships MUST use a TGCA panel judge for all the TGCA classes and the TGCA Quest championship. The TGCA provides champion rosettes for this. A minimum of three classes youngstock, senior in hand and ridden must run at a Quest Show. The Championship is only open to TGCA members who present their membership cards and showing cards for the registered cob. 6. All ridden and in hand stallions MUST wear a TGCA bridle number when competing in order to enter any TGCA class. No unlicensed stallion may enter any TGCA affiliated class. 7. All ridden exhibits must be 4 years and over. 8. All stallions and colts over the age of two, must be bitted when competing in an in hand class. 9. No foals are permitted to enter any in hand classes. 10. Qualification goes to the first three exhibits unless the class has twelve or more exhibits, then qualification will go to the first six exhibits.
11. If running a combined youngstock and senior in hand class, the three highest placed youngstock, the three highest placed senior large (142 cm and above) and the three highest placed senior small (not exceeding 142 cm) exhibits, will qualify. 12. If a ridden class is run as a single class, then the three highest placed large (142 cm and above) and the three highest placed small (not exceeding 142 cm) exhibits, will qualify. If you intend to run TGCA qualifiers within a mixed group, i.e. cob type, please indicate to TGCA on the event form and make clear on the schedule that TOYS qualifiers are only to be awarded to exhibits that meet the traditional gypsy cob breed standard. Please note TGCA classes cannot be run in coloured classes, we are a Breed Association. 13. To affiliate to the TGCA, please send your entry form to the event secretary, ideally via email. Please indicate the name of the TGCA judge to be used and class numbers, and if possible, a copy of the schedule or relevant section within. You may put all the information into an email if you prefer but it must contain everything listed on the affiliation form. 14. You will receive an email confirming receipt of your show form and your show number. Until this received, your show is not confirmed as affiliated to the TGCA. Once your show is confirmed by the event secretary, it will be promoted on the TGCA s website and Facebook page. Only shows that are listed on the TGCA website are able to offer TOYS qualification. 15. You will be sent qualification cards from the event secretary for any non TGCA members taking part in the classes, instructions for handing out qualification cards and where a non TGCA judge is used, a guideline for the judge to read one month prior to the show date.
