Shropshire FA There's never been a better time to get involved and play disability football. Opportunities for players with a disability to access football at various levels have grown incredibly over the past few years. You may be an enthusiastic grass roots player who likes nothing more than a kick about with your friends and enjoys the social aspect of this participation. Others may have ambitions to develop as a player and to potentially to play for their country the good news is that the systems are in place for you access football at the level that meets your needs and aspirations. Grassroots Football Provision Shropshire FA support a number of FA Ability Counts Football club sessions. These clubs have shown a commitment to providing opportunities for disabled people to take part in coaching and In some cases competitive football competing in the FA 3 Counties Ability Counts League.

Grassroots Football Provision Wheelchair Provision: Telford Powerchair Football Club - Based at Lillishall National Sports & Conference Centre, Near Newport, where they have training sessions. Telford PFC are affiliated to the Shropshire FA and the Wheelchair FA. They have formed a partnership with AFC Telford United, Telford and Wrekin Council, TCAT and the Shropshire FA. Telford PFC are entered in the WFA National Championship League and also in the Birmingham Ability Counts Premier and Championship Leagues and the Bolton Championship League. 3 Counties Ability Counts League The 3 Counties Ability Counts League 2014/15 currently caters for adult teams with PAN Disability players however, the League is encouraging U16 s to take part alongside these fixtures in the hope of creating a U16 s fixture programme for the 2015/16 season. DNS and Telford Juniors FC participate in this League. FA Disability Talent Pathway The FA supports the delivery of England Elite Impairment Specific squads for blind players, partially sighted players, players with cerebral palsy, players with a Learning Difficulty, Amputee Players and female deaf players. These squads compete in European and World Competitions on a cyclical basis. The FA also takes responsibility for the Great Britain Disability Football Association which in turn supports the participation of Great Britain Blind and Cerebral Teams in Paralympic Games.

How to get into Coaching FA Introduction to Coaching Disabled Footballers Course Shropshire FA organise annually The Coaching Disabled Footballers course. This course is designed to give football coaches and teacher s ideas and practices for the inclusion of disabled players in football sessions within mainstream or impairment specific sessions.
