Looks like this year is shaping up for another tight run to make it to the top 6. With this in mind, I would like to inform the new members and remind the old members, the purpose of the Bass Club of Fort Worth is to: To maintain a high standard of true sportsmanship among its members and fellow sportsman; To promote a social relationship and a friendly atmosphere; To sponsor fishing tournaments, to provide an atmosphere of friendly competition; To promote fishing as a source of recreation; and To promote conservation of our natural resources in every respect. As we continue to claw our way up and down the leader board, let s don t forget the true purpose and just have fun. After all, it s just a $20 tournament not the BASS. Thank you Gene Rodgers for your jerk bait presentation, it was very informative. If anyone else would like to share a technique with the club, please contact me or Gene.
Prez Says Tim Johnson President, Bass Club of Fort Worth The Winning Way I would like to think Hershul Smith for winning the tournament at Squaw Creek. Hershul said he was the 14 th boat to lunch and he did not go very far. Hershul could see the boat ramp and he was fishing in 10 feet of water, using a Blue Flak Worm. He caught all three fish by 7:15 (with the same worm). Hershul proved one doesn t have to go all over a lake to find fish.
From Hershul Smith Our Tournament Director If you pay for the tournament at the meeting prior to the tournament you do not have to sign in at the mailbox. If you don't pay at the meeting prior to tournament you must sign in at the mailbox. The mailbox will be at the official weigh in location near the boat ramp or under a light near the ramp when possible. The mailbox will be set out 30 minutes to 1hour before official start time of tournament. When you come to weigh in, the first thing you need to do is check in on the check in sheet which will be on the weigh in table, you have until official time is up. At that time it will be removed and you will be disqualified. You or your partners are the only ones allowed to check you in. You are not allowed to call someone or ask someone other than your partner to check you in. If you do and you are caught, both you and the person that checked you in are subject to disqualification. Then you must get an official culling ball from the weigh in table to weigh your fish. Please don't get your fish out of your live well until you have a culling ball, once you have a culling ball get fish out and in a good weigh bag with sufficient water and get in weigh line holding the culling ball until you weigh in. Then return culling ball to table so the next angler can get one. At no time should anyone have fish in bag without culling ball or be in line without culling ball. This is to help keep fish alive when the temperatures go up. Please be patient at weigh in, if you are weighing fish and have not paid we will collect your money at that time, if you are not weighing fish and still need to pay, wait for a moment and we will get your money. Please don't interrupt weigh in as we are trying to communicate the number of fish, weights, and anglers names without mistakes. Who knows it could be your weigh that we make the mistakes on. So please just give us time and we will get your money or answer any questions you may have. If you fish a tournament and have not paid, and wish to leave early, find a club member give them your entry fee, sign out at mailbox and make note of who has your entry fees, and that you are leaving early, please don't leave any entry fees in mailbox. Thank you Hershul Smith Tournament Director 817 231 2147
Meeting Notes A FRIENDLY REMINDER FROM TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR HERSHULL SMITH: You must sign in at the BCFW mailbox if you have NOT paid your entry fee at the meeting prior to the tournament you are fishing. Please note that failure to do so may result in a penalty and loss of weight. When we are weighing in fish and taking money, please do not ask how much was my weigh in today. After we finish weighing everyone, I will be happy to give you all the information you need. When you come up to weigh in, you must have one of Hershulls culling balls. Please do not bring up your fish without one of these. The next club meeting will be Thursday, March 6, 2014, 7:00 pm, at Coors Distribution Center Hospitality Room. If you leave the tournament early, either sign out at the mailbox or let someone know you are leaving. Weigh-in is at 3:30 PM unless changed. Make sure the tournament director or assistant knows you are on time, especially if there is a line to weigh fish. Rule #16: There is a 3 fish limit, unless lake rules demand less. Each contestant must bring no more than 3 fish to weigh-in. Fish shall be in weigh-in bags or containers with sufficient water to keep the fish in good condition until they are released.
