Jordan Caroline chipped in with 20 points for the Wolf Pack. Nevada (23-5, 11-2 Mountain West) shot 59.3 percent from the field - including 11-of-21 from 3-point range - to pull away from the Aggies. Koby McEwen scored 32 points and Sam Merrill added 16 to lead Utah State. The Aggies (14-14, 7-8 MW) have lost 14 straight to ranked opponents and fell to the Wolf Pack at home for the second time in five games. Utah State was the hotter team from the field early, going 13 of 19 (68.4 percent) in the first 12 minutes. Nevada used a 17-0 run late in the first half to take its first double-digit lead at 47-37. Cody Martin converted a four-point play to ignite the run, and Hallice Cooke and Kendall Stephens put the Wolf Pack in front with back-to-back 3-poitners. Nevada ultimately took a 52-40 halftime lead as Utah State missed 12 of 13 shots over the final 7:19 of the first half. The Aggies trimmed the lead to 72-66 on a dunk from DeAngelo Isby with 8:32 left. Nevada kept Utah State from getting any closer by hitting six straight baskets over a five-minute stretch. Caroline finished the string with a 3-pointer that put the Wolf Pack up 87-75 with 3:10 remaining. McEwen ran off eight points in a minute, capped by a hammer dunk, to cut Nevada's lead to 91-87 with 14.6 seconds left. Caleb Martin sealed the win by making a pair of free throws with 7.6 seconds to go. 3

Musselman s team won 28 games in the 2016-17 season, tied for the second most in program history. Musselman signed a new five-year deal to coach at Nevada after last season. The deal extends through the 2021-22 season. The regular season title marked the first since the 2011-12 season and the tournament title was the first since 2005-06. With the tournament victory, the Pack also earned its first trip to the NCAA Championship since the 2006-07 season. Musselman became just the second coach in Wolf Pack history to lead his team to back-toback 20 win seasons in his first two years, joining Mark Fox. The 2016-17 season marked the second consecutive year Musselman led his team to at least 24 wins. The success did not go unrecognized as Musselman was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year by the United States Basketball Writers Association. Under Musselman, several Wolf Pack players earned postseason honors in his second season. Senior Marcus Marshall was named to the All- Mountain West first team by both the conference coaches and media after breaking the Nevada single season record with 115 threes made, the second most in Mountain West history. Marshall was named the Newcomer of the Year in both polls. Sophomore Cameron Oliver earned first team honors from the Mountain West media and second team honors from the conference coaches. Fellow Sophomore Jordan Caroline earned second team honors in both polls, while senior D.J. Fenner earned second team honors from the coaches and third team honors from the media. In his first season at Nevada Musselman changed the culture of the men s basketball team. Musselman led the Wolf Pack to a 24-14 record and the College Basketball Invitational Championship. The 85-82 overtime CBI Championship victory over Morehead State came on Apr. 1, marking the first time a Wolf Pack basketball team had played a game in the month of April. BleacherReport named him their Mountain West Coach of the Year. The 24 wins is the sixth most in school history and the 20-win season is the 13th in 102 years of Nevada basketball. He joined Mark Fox (2004-05) and David Carter (2008-09) as the third consecutive first-year coach to win 20 games leading Pack basketball team. Musselman also won his first collegiate game when the Pack defeated Coastal Carolina 73-56 in Hawaii. The Pack s 15-win improvement from nine wins to 24 ranked the team as the sixth most improved NCAA I squad in the country. Three members of the Pack earned postseason honors under his direction. Senior Marqueze Coleman earned second-team All-MW honors from the coaches and media. Coleman was also named to the NABC District 17 team. Coleman s 1098 career points ranks 21st in school history. Fellow senior Tyron Criswell was selected as the MW Sixth Man of the Year by the conference media. Criswell ended his final campaign being named the MVP of the CBI. Freshman Cameron Oliver had one of the best seasons by a Pack freshman breaking the Nevada record, school freshman mark and MW freshman record with his 99 blocks. Oliver was selected as the Freshman of the Year by the MW media and to their All-MW second team. The conference coaches named him to their defensive team and third team. After back-to-back double-doubles at the MW Championships he was named to the All-MW Tournament team. He was the only player on the squad that did not play in the title game. Nevada is Musselman s first collegiate head coaching position but he has been a head coach for seven professional teams, including two seasons with the Golden State Warriors (2002-04) and one with the Sacramento Kings (2006-07).
