Please read our handbook in its entirety and let us know if you have any questions. Once you and your family have reviewed the information, please sign the accompanying paperwork and return to us along with the $300 commitment fee. Be sure to use the 2016-2017 Athlete and Parent Handbook as a resource as questions come up during the season. BAMA ALL STARS Britten S. Blackburn President and Owner, American Cheerleading Centers, Inc. Athlete and Parent Handbook
Athlete Code of Conduct How to Act like a Bama All Star Participants at Bama All Stars are registered and active participants at ACC and do not participate in any other gym or cheer facility. Bama All Stars come to practice on time and attend all competitions. When arriving to competition Bama All Stars are dressed, with hair and makeup done to Bama All Star Standards. Behavior Social Media Show respect for the coaches, fellow teammates, other Bama All Stars, parents, judges, officials, and spectators. Disrespectful behavior will result in dismissal. Demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after competitions. Treat all athletes and coaches from opposing teams with respect. Be modest when successful and gracious in defeat. No athlete or parent may post inappropriate messages on social media (including Facebook, Twitter, group chats) about another program or individual, or Bama All Star coaches and staff. Inappropriate messages will result in dismissal from the program. No Bama All Star team videos are allowed to be posted on YouTube or any other website without permission. Team Practices Attendance is required as this is a team sport. During practice the decisions about the squad and routine are left to the coaches, not the athletes or parents. Athlete cell phones should not be used in practice. If a parent needs to contact an athlete, the parent should call the office. If you are sick (and not contagious) or have an injury, you should still attend team practice. Watching from the sidelines allows you to see changes made at practice, which may affect your part of the routine. If the doctor recommends you refrain from practice due to an injury, bring a written note from your doctor to practice. Please notify coaches immediately if an injury occurs. An athlete cannot return to full participation in practice until a notice from a doctor releasing the athlete from their care has been received. Athletes should still attend practices throughout their injury period unless the doctor recommends otherwise. If you are running late to practice, call the office. Practice clothes must be worn to all practices. No absences are allowed the week of competition. The coach reserves the right to replace an athlete who misses practice the week of competition. Absentee Policy A missed practice constitutes an absence for whatever reason. Bama All Stars that accumulate five (5) absences to squad practice will have a meeting with Britten Blackburn. After six (6) absences, the athlete is no longer a member of the respective team. Conflicts Bama All Star staff works diligently to work around scheduled extra-curricular activities. However, as a Bama All Star, if a school coach/advisor will not work around our mandatory schedule then the Bama All Star will have to choose which activity to continue. Competition Bama All Stars are required to attend all competitions. Missing a competition without 72 hour notice results in a fee equal to 100% of my team s entry fee for the competition.
Parent Code of Conduct How to Act like a Bama All Star Parent As a Bama All Star Parent, I support my child and ensure that my child attends all competitions and practices. Bama All Star parents are committed to all team scheduled events throughout the season, including squad practices and competitions in-town and out-oftown. Electronic Communications Bama All Stars communicates pertinent information for parents and athletes using emails, postings on social media, flyers, and the gym website. Billing for Bama All Stars is done using Google Docs. Parents understand it is their responsibility to know what is going on by checking for electronic communications regularly. Competitions Bama All Star parents understand that their child is their responsibility at competitions. It is the parent s obligation to accompany their child during competition and All Star events. If the parent cannot attend an event, it is the parent s responsibility to make arrangements for their child to attend the event with a family designee or another Bama All Star family. If a parent/guardian has a child who is late for competition and/or not in full uniform including makeup at the team meet time, the parent understands they are responsible for $1.00 per minute their child is late. The parent understands that if their child misses a competition due to an illness, injury, or other situation, the parent does not receive a refund. Absentee for Athletes Bama All Star parents understand that competitive cheerleading is a team sport, and that practices and competitions cannot be taken away from the athlete as a consequence for bad behavior at school or home. Parents will find a way to reprimand their child that does not punish the coaches and his or her teammates. Financial Obligations Bama All Star parents understand that Bama All Star obligations are all-inclusive. The financial obligation covers competition fees, travel expenses for coaching staff, end of the season celebration, and recognition and squad awards. This fee does not cover personal travel expenses, meals, spectator fees, or transportation fees incurred by the participant as a part of a competition in-town or out-of-town.
