PROTEST
AOB PROTEST The Protest must be made in writing and giving clear reasons for the protest and specifying which rules were violated. No Protest against Judge s decisions will be accepted. An administrative fee is US$ 150.00. The evaluation must be conducted by the Supervisor or Deputy Supervisors if applicable, Referees Evaluator and Judges Evaluator. SCORING SYSTEM
SCORING SYSTEM (I) The new Scoring System is as per current WSB Scoring System: Ten Points Must System Until May 31 and when the Electronic Scoring System becomes defective, the Judges shall use Scorecards to score the points. 19 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
SCORING SYSTEM (II) Judges Assignment Electronic Scoring System: Draw Commission assigns 1 Referee and 5 Judges for each bout, without the position of the Judges, only names. SCORING SYSTEM (III) Judges Position R&J Coordinator calls the Referee and Judges to the FOP. When the Judges arrive at the FOP, they randomly draw the Judge s position using ping pong balls. The R&J Coordinator informs the Supervisor the position of each Judge. 21 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
SCORING SYSTEM (IV) Judges Selection Electronic Scoring System: When starting the bout, the Computer randomly selects 3 Judges out of 5 and reveals this information with the official decision of the bout. Manual Scoring System: The scoring system will be operated with 3 judges. The scores of the 3 judges will be considered. 22 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
SCORING SYSTEM (V) Manual Scoring System Referee: At the end of each round, the Referee shall collect all 3 Score Cards and delivers to the Supervisor. The Referee should wait a couple of seconds to get the Score Cards, avoiding to cross the ring. 23 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
SCORING SYSTEM (VI) Judge: At the end of each round the Judges must determine the winner of the round. It is mandatory, one Boxer must receives ten (10) and the opponent nine (9) or less, depending on the judgement, according to the criteria. SCORING SYSTEM (XI) Electronic System: Flashing lights on the Score Pad, indicating a tie breaker situation. The Judge will then be required to break the tie by pushing the Red or Blue button, and press OK to confirm the winner by tiebreaker. SCORING SYSTEM (XIV) TIE BOUT - Electronic System: A Judge shall declare the winner of the bout by tie breaker if one of the following three cases occurs: a. 1 Judge Tie and 2 Judges declare different winners b. 2 Judges Tie and 1 Judge declares winner c. 3 Judges Tie If one of these cases occurs, the score pad will flash a light, asking the Judge to choose the boxer in the Red corner or the Blue corner as the winner. 32 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
SCORING SYSTEM (XV) The scoring of the points for each round shall be made within fifteen (15) seconds following the conclusion of the round by the Judges using the Scoring System. SCORING SYSTEM (XVII) Announcement of the Scores: The announcement of the scores on the live TV broadcast will be made immediately prior to the commencement of the next round. SCORING SYSTEM (XIX) The scores of the final round shall not be disclosed or displayed, until the winner of the Bout has been determined. Following such determination as shown on the Scoring System, the Supervisor shall notify the Referee and the official announcer of the winner of the Bout as shown on the Scoring System. The Referee shall then position himself in the center of the ring with both Boxers, and the official announcer shall announce the winner of the Bout over the public address system. The Referee will then raise the hand of the winning Boxer and only then, will the scores of the final round and the total scores be made public on the live TV broadcast as well as announced in the Venue. 37 - R&J Seminar - Croatia

DECISIONS (IV) Points WP (3) A Bout may be terminated by the Referee due to an event that is out of the Boxer s or Referee s control, such as the destruction of the ring, the failure of the lighting supply, forces of nature and other similar unforeseen conditions. In such circumstances, the Judges will score the round for each Boxer up to the time of the termination of the Bout and the Boxer who is ahead on points will be declared the winner of the Bout on points in accordance to the Scoring System. DECISIONS (V) Technical Knock-Out TKO (1): If a Boxer retires voluntarily owing to injury or not. The Coach throws a towel in the ring to retire his boxer. The Boxer fails to resume boxing immediately after the rest period between rounds. If a Boxer, in the opinion of the Referee is being outclassed or is receiving excessive punishment. If a Boxer is unfit to continue and fails to resume boxing after a Knock Down. 46 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
DECISIONS (VI) Technical Knock-Out TKO (2) If a Boxer doesn t recover after one (1) minute and thirty (30) seconds, in accordance with the rule concerning the low blow. If a Boxer doesn t come back into in the ring in the allowed thirty (30) seconds after this Boxer being knocked-out of the ring, When the Bout is stopped by the Supervisor following the advice of a Ring-side Doctor. DECISIONS (VII) Technical Knock-Out Injury TKO-I If a Boxer, in the opinion of the Referee, is unfit to continue because of a sustained or increased injury from correct punches, If a Boxer becomes incapable of continuing to compete, without receiving punches. 48 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
DECISIONS (VIII) Disqualification DQ A Boxer can be disqualified for a foul or misconduct. An intentional foul causes an injury to a Boxer and the fouled and injured Boxer cannot continue because of the injury sustained from the intentional foul. DECISIONS (IX) Knock-Out KO If a Boxer is Knocked-Down and fails to resume boxing before he is counted out to ten. If the Referee summons the Ringside Doctor in the ring, in case of an emergency, before the Boxer is counted out to ten. DECISIONS (X) Walk Over WO When a Boxer is present in the ring fully attired for boxing and the Boxer s opponent fails to appear after having been called out by the public address system. JUDGES (I) 5 Judges shall be assigned to each Bout. The computer randomly selects 3 Judges out of 5 Judges. Until distribution of the Electronic Scoring System, AOB competitions using scorecards are allowed with 3 Judges. The Judges will not apply Warnings. The Supervisor does. JUDGES (II) Duties: Primary duty is to judge the bout according to Criteria and Rules. Judges should judge independently and without bias. Bring Referee s attention with anything the Referee may not have noticed as loose ropes, etc. Action should be done between the rounds. May not speak to anyone during a bout. JUDGES (VI) Tips (1): Never rely on past performance, reputations or titles earned by a particular athlete. Boxers who swing their blows are liable to connect the target area with the inside of the glove. Considerable proportions of swinging blows do not contact with the knuckle part of the closed glove, and are therefore foul blows. Judge must not award points 58 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
JUDGES (VII) Tips (2): Infighting may be described as the exchange of several blows when the Boxers are close together. The Judges need to consider the combination blows. DO NOT give credit for blows delivered whilst the Boxer is infringing the rules 59 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
JUDGES (VIII) Tips (3): Award your points for the boxing you see, not for what a Boxer can do, or has done on other occasions. DO NOT be influenced by the crowd or by the corners. DO NOT engage in conversations or other distractions during the contest. You need absolutely concentration. Give your undivided attention to the competing Boxers. REFEREES (II) Duties (2): When the Referee has disqualified a Boxer or stopped the Bout, the Referee shall first inform the Supervisor which Boxer has been disqualified or the reason for which the Bout was stopped. REFEREES (III) Duties (3): To use four words of command: - Stop when calling for a temporary stop and when ordering boxers to stop boxing - Box when ordering boxers to resume boxing - Break when breaking a clinch, upon which command each Boxer shall step back before continuing to box - Time when the Referee needs to interrupt the Bout for a longer period (in this case, the time keeper stops the watch) 64 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
REFEREES (IV) Duties (4): The Referee shall not indicate the winner, by raising a Boxer s hand or otherwise, until the official announcement has been made. REFEREES (V) Authorities (1): To terminate a contest at any stage if the Referee considers it to be one-sided. To terminate a contest at any stage if one of the Boxers has received an injury on account of which the Referee decides the Boxer should not continue. REFEREES (VI) Authorities (2): To caution a Boxer or administer a warning to a Boxer against fouls or for any other reason in the interest of fair play, or to ensure compliance with these Rules. REFEREES (VII) Authorities (3): With or without previous warning, to disqualify a Boxer for committing a serious foul. REFEREES (VIII) Right to check the Boxer Once a Boxer has entered the ring, the Referee shall insure that the Boxer is wearing a cup-protector and gumshield and properly dressed. The Boxer must be wearing no other objects except for the boxing apparel specified in the Rules. No other objects may be worn during the Bout. REFREES (XVII) Tips (2): Priorities of the duties: 1. Safety of the Boxers 2. Uphold the Rules 3. Prevent either Boxer from receiving any unnecessary and excessive blows Never allow spectator or any outside source to influence decision Be strict without being severe (Boxing is a sport) Never try to intimidate a Boxer by finger pointing when issuing a caution or warning 78 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
REFEREES (XVIII) Tips (3): Be sure to use the whole hand as this projects a better image and will maintain respect form the competitors In the ring, be as discreet as the bout allows you Move alertly around the ring: Avoid remaining in one position for long period thus obstructing the view of the Judges and onlookers and indeed not seeing as much of the contest as you should Never give commands, if Boxers have their back to you: Ensure you are in a correct position where the boxers fully understand your instruction, actions, or signals 79 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
REFEREES (XIX) Tips (4): Distinguish between infighting and clinching A clinch occurs when one or both Boxers lead and for a moment their arms become locked together: This is not an offence Offence does occur when a Boxer does not make an attempt to disengage from the clinch and continues to hold 80 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
REFEREES (XX) Tips (5): Do not walk backwards; always move in a forward direction where possible Do not give the command BREAK too quickly or too often - BREAK order should be given when the Boxers are slow in getting out of a clinch At the command BREAK, insist that Both boxers take a full step backwards 81 - R&J Seminar - Croatia
REFEREES (XXI) Tips (6): Avoid saying Stop or Break too often, unless it is because of a Head Butt. After the verbal command of Break, it may be necessary to use the hands to touch and separate the Boxers. REFEREES (XXIII) Tips (8): Read the rules and the manual thoroughly before each assignment Practice the application of the rules in sparring sessions Attend seminars Keep physically fit and follow a clean lifestyle Be physically and mentally ready to officiate Tone up and stretch before each of your bouts Carefully watch the boxers during each round and in the intervals, keep an eye on the Ringside Doctor, squad, judges, and the Supervisor during the intervals as well 84 - R&J Seminar - Croatia

LOW BLOW After a low blow, if the offended complains, the Referee has two (2) options: Disqualifying the offender immediately, if an intentional and hard blow Start an eight count After the count till eight, the Referee has two (2) options: If the Boxer is fit to continue: the Referee gives a warning to the offender, if the Referee considers necessary, and the Bout continues If the Boxer is unfit to continue: the Referee gives a maximum of up to one minute and a half (1 30) to recover After above mentioned timeframe, the Referee has two (2) options: If the Boxer is fit to continue: the Referee applies a warning to the offender and the Bout continues If the Boxer is unfit to continue: he loses the bout by TKO 86 - R&J Seminar - Croatia

TIMEKEEPER Working with the timekeeper Sounding bell at begin and end of round Sounding last 10 seconds of the round Counting for knockdowns Control the time: Low Blow, LOC and if a boxer falls out of the ring Does not sound the bell if the Referee is still counting a knockdown that occur concurrent with the end of the round. AOB SUPERVISOR ROLE (I) A Supervisor has the arduous responsibility of ensuring that the laws and the rules are implemented rigorously and with good judgment by giving directions to the teams to comply with the Technical and Competition Rules.
