PD100 White, PD200 Black Low VOC Acrylic Polyurethane Topcoat PRODUCT DESCRIPTION PRODUCT DATA SHEET PRISM Direct-To-Metal(DTM) Urethane Topcoat is a premium two-component acrylic polyurethane system designed for DTM topcoat applications. This coating combines the protection of a primer and topcoat in one package. PRISM Acrylic Polyurethane will apply directly to properly cleaned and/or pretreated substrates and provide excellent adhesion and corrosion protection. This DTM topcoat exhibits good UV and exterior durability and is available as a factory package color system. SUITABLE SUBSTRATES Cold Rolled Steel FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) Hot Rolled Steel SMC (Sheet Molded Compound) Note: Not for use on immersion services. Not for use on surfaces with extended surface temperature of 250 F or more SURFACE PREPARATION Bare Metal Substrates: 1. Wash surface with a mild detergent in hot water. Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean cloth. 2. Solvent clean with a Martin Senour Low VOC Surface Cleaner and wipe dry with a clean cloth 3. Abrade repair area to remove paint and all rust as needed. 4. Apply body filler to clean bare metal as needed. 5. Sand all areas to be refinished with 320-grit sandpaper and featheredge all broken film areas MIXING RATIO Stir or shake PRISM topcoat thoroughly before mixing. Mix by volume, 6 parts DTM topcoat color with 3 parts 6588 Reducer and one part 6496 hardener. Stir thoroughly and strain before use. Up to 10% of PRISM reducer 6588 may be added based on sprayable volume to customize application properties without affecting VOC. 2013 The Martin Senour Company Page 1 of 6 MA5297

MIXING RATIO - continued 6 Parts Color + + 3 Part Reducer 6588 1 Part Hardener 6496 REDUCER NOTE: 3 oz of Accelerator 6597 can be used to speed up the dry time. Refer to the drying schedule for dry times. TEMPERATURE RANGE 6588 50-75 F POT LIFE Time Temperature 1 Hour 77 F APPLICATION OVERALL Adjust air pressure at the gun to 50-55 psi for siphon, gravity, or pressure feed (adjust pot pressure to 5-10 psi for 12-16 fluid ounces per minute delivery) or 10 psi at the cap for HVLP guns. For Pressure, 12-16 oz /min. 20-23 sec with a #2 Zahn cup: Apply 2 coats at a gun distance of 5-10 inches. First spray medium wet coat, allow solvent to evaporate/hand slick then apply 1 full wet coat with 50% overlap for second coat. In a cross-coat method apply 40-60% coat in one direction and then apply a full wet coat in the opposite direction on the panel. Recommended dry film thickness is 2.5 5.0 mils. The 2 coat system will achieve higher dry film build. Always check the spray gun pattern before painting. Clean spray gun immediately after use with compliant Gun and Equipment Cleaner. REPAIR Repair process must be performed using a two-gun method. Apply DTM Topcoat over the repaired area carrying out the wet edge just beyond repair. Allow DTM Topcoat to flash per Drying Schedule Hand Slick recommendations. Apply a second coat to achieve proper hiding and blending of the color into the repaired area and lightly feather the outer edge. Immediately after feathering the final coat, melt the feathered edge with a wet-onwet application using Ure-Blend BS10 1K Urethane Blending Solvent. 2013 The Martin Senour Company Page 2 of 6 MA5297
