COMPLETED Registration Forms with Payment DUE: March 24 th, 2017 by 4:00 PM Beginning Monday, March 27th, 2017 Franklin Academy will launch its after school club program for the fourth quarter, which will be available to students in grades K-7 as indicated in the chart below. These clubs will run from Monday, March 27 th Thursday, June 1 st, 2017. Last day of clubs for the quarter will be on June 1 st, 2017. Registration Forms & Payments Registration forms that are incomplete or missing will not be considered. Payments are only accepted by either a check or money order (No online payments): Payments must be stapled to the registration form. If you have an outstanding balance on your Franklin Academy account, you will not be able to enroll in a club until balance is paid. A separate registration form and check or money order must be submitted for EACH club and EACH child (Any checks or money orders not properly submitted will be sent home with students and due to time restraints could result in loss of a roster spot if not promptly returned). The name of the club and the club moderator s name must be written in the memo line of each check or money order. There are no refunds after Monday, March 27th, 2017. If your child is trying out for Sports please note there may be overlap in schedules. Speak to the coach about dates prior to signing up for clubs. Funds are not transferrable (no club changes after Monday, March 27th, 2017) No late registration forms will be accepted. LATE PICK UP POLICY - Please be advised that parents and guardians will be responsible for the pickup of their child on the days in which their club meets, as transportation is not provided. K-4 th grade parents must pick-up their child by 4:00 PM and 5-7 th grade parents must pick-up their child by 5:00 PM. There will be a $1.00 per minute charge for late pick-up. Late pick up payments must be in the form of a check or money order and must be made out to Franklin Academy, not to the individual club moderator. Character Drawing Latin Rubik s Lego Challenge Soccer Cheer Club Magic Club Once Upon a STEM tales Chess Elementary Arts Juggling Art of Cooking Students will learn the art of drawing by creating renderings of their favorite characters. Students will need a sketchpad and pencil for each session. Students will engage in the creative art and technique of authentic latin dance. Dancing to the music they will learn Zumba and salsa! Learn the mystery and secrets of solving the Rubik s cube. As students progress they can continue forward with extended cubing and speed cube races. Lego fans unite as students engage in various engineering design challenges and use Legos to build the solutions. Who will win the title of Engineer of the Week Join Mr. Diaz and practice drills and skills as students work toward competing for the world cup! Give me a C-H-E-E-R! Students will learn several different exciting cheers and special routines. Fantastic for collaboration and team spirit! Mr. Garay has been practicing magic for over 25 years. Students can wow their families with magic tricks they will learn. Magic helps teach problem solving, presentation skills, and public speaking skills too! Promote life- long health and wellness while having fun learning new dance moves. Students utilize Science, technology, Engineering and Math to create inventions that will have familiar fairy tale characters solve problems they ve encountered in famous tales. Extend the daily instruction of chess- Great for students who want to improve their strategies and game. Students will also work on chess notations and prepare for tournament work. Art is not only a form of expression but encompasses math and science. Our budding artists will be crafting using paint and other media to produce their masterpieces. Students will juggle with scarves, Frisbees, tennis balls, bean bags and pins. As proficiency increases, they will build on those skills with higher level juggling tricks. Food, music and crafts come together as we explore the Art of Cooking! We take a tour of the world exploring different cultures and the foods that represent them! Flag Football Volleyball Lego Mindstorms Flamenco Students will learn skills and drills for FlagFootball. Critical thinking skills, speed and strategy help prepare them if they are considering joining the team! Basic skills are taught as we learn the strategies of playing volleyball. Games will be played weekly. Helps prepare players for competitive games. Closely aligned with STEM curriculum, students design and program autonomous robots to perform various tasks. Students will learn at their own pace and design at a pace that works for them. Problem solving skills are enhanced through this process. Learn the beautiful traditional art of Flamenco dancing. Basic steps and style are taught. Students are encouraged to bring Flamenco skirts and shoes if they have them.

Stage directions, script memorization, body language and expression are just a few of the important skills that will be taught. We will learn the importance of life-long fitness. We will discuss goal setting, and how to accomplish them with an emphasis on running. Emphasis on cardio, strength and endurance, while learning that fitness can be fun! Hands on experiments that directly support the STEM standards. Every session will have a take home activity to help reinforce the academic concepts. Online component for reinforcement to help prepare students for success. Skills will be reinforced for stronger athletic success on the court. Students will be conditioning, stretching, dribbling, passing, shooting and learning defense. Teamwork is emphasized as a key component to success. Students come together to create beautiful music together while applying music theory concepts and learning vocal musical pieces. Fitness allows students to be active while dancing to music. Routines and choreographed songs will be broken down to allow students to perform at all levels. Talk the talk for sports events while we come together to discuss our favorite subject: sports! Students will watch and discuss plays and stats of different games to understand what makes a star player and team. Improve and reinforce your soccer skills. Students will have opportunity to build relationships with middle school athletes in preparation for next year s athletic program. Easy cooking skills with attention to nutrition and fresh food. Students will gain confidence and comfort in the kitchen using basic appliances to prepare healthy meals and snacks. Hands on activities that directly support the FSA math standards. This club will reinforce and build better basketball skills to help build confidence and skills for competitive play! This club will help students acquire the art of breathing and stretching to improve wellness and improve overall health and performance. Mindful breathing and basic poses help mold calm, respectful beings who develop the ability to minimize distractions and de-stress. Create a personalized signature, amazing craft projects, and personalized gifts. Calligraphy, crafts and cursive writing are all a part of their creative projects. This club combines several fun sports to help reinforce skills while exposing students to a variety of sports. This helps foster student s confidence as an athlete while building skills in all areas. Hands on activities that directly support the FSA math standards. Every session will have a take home activity to help reinforce the academic concepts. Online component for reinforcement to help prepare students for success Enhance understanding and strategies in the game. Students will learn opening moves, tactics, and end game techniques to improve their chess game. Students will learn this important method of communication while increasing their personal awareness of American Sign Language and the deaf community and culture. All levels welcomed as we create seasoned signers!
