Our community partners recognize that AMA onsite events bring thousands of visitors during the flying season who spend dollars in our community. Their generous donations help AMA continue to host the many competition events held annually, and in turn, AMA promotes and encourages our members to look for and support members of the Flight Support Team.
RC Scale Aerobatics: Day Three! Another hot day in Muncie. With the thermometer pushing close to 95, the competitors jumped right into the day s Unknown round the second Unknown of the contest so far. The judges and line bosses kept things moving right along and the pilots were able to get in quite a bit more flying on Wednesday. There are no scores posted on Day Three since the pilots are waiting until the IMAC Banquet to find out who has made the cut to move forward to the final round. The banquet, as always, was a great evening of fun and fellowship. It is a time to recognize all of the behind-thescenes folks who help keep the Scale Aerobatic Nats running as well as they have been. It is also where the finalists are announced. The IMAC president, Don Hamilton, along with the attending board members announced a great new initiative put forth by the Education Committee: an entire online judging school and learning center! This is a fantastic way to improve the skills and abilities of all of our members to help better the pilots and the judging! More will be posted on the IMAC site soon. One of the special parts of the night is the presentation of the President s Award to people who have gone above and beyond in the service of IMAC. Several past winners came forward to present the award to this year s winners. Mark and Cheryl Jorgenson, Fred and Julie Johnson, and Roy and April Barrow are this year s IMAC honorees. The list of accomplishments of this distinguished group are far too numerous for the NatsNews, but suffice it to say, that IMAC would not be where it is without the service of these selfless people. Wednesday evening after the banquet brought together many of the folks camping at the AMA site for a great fireworks show. After that, the pilots headed off to study and rest up for the finals! Based on the flying so far, the finals will not disappoint; these are some of the best Precision Aerobatic pilots in the country battling for the title of National Champion! Curtis Cozier
