PRESIDENT S REPORT Re: A message to all our club members. On the 20th of January 1961 John F. Kennedy delivered his inauguration speech titled Ask Not, the speech become a landmark moment as America transitioned into a country that faced challenges head on and dreamt big, it required people to roll up their sleeves and ask What can I do for my country? it was a monumental shift, one we now face as a club as we take over the running of our facility!! Caloundra Football club was formed back in 1968, when a group of football players were told they could no longer play their beloved sport, a meeting took place in a corner store near Woombye and it was decided that the first official game of football on the Sunshine Coast would take place. This event led to the creation of Caloundra Soccer Club and Woombye Soccer Club, later on they invited a group to form Beerwah and Maroochydore. As we celebrate 50 years, many important events happened in the course of our history, our ladies football dominated the coast winning a record 7 premierships in a row, we joined forces with Shelley Park and created Caloundra Shelley Park United which was the largest club on
the coast, as well as had the privilege of providing some stars to the Matildas, the New Zealand team, the A-League and young Socceroos. We moved to Meridan perhaps 4 years ahead of the area, our club dropped in numbers, it has taken some time to recover, but we are now the 4 th largest on the coast and one of the TOP 4 clubs for players development, as you read this letter, our club have been issued the Junior boys State license (SAP) which puts us in the highest tier of football development in the country!!! We are also in the process of taking control over our own fields, having used Meridan Fields as tenants only and with Sunshine Coast Council serving as landlords, we have found limitations in the use of Meridan, the fields have been serviced to a minimum standard and the restrictions have meant that our club can t generate extra revenue. But, this season and after 5 years of being tenants, Caloundra FC becomes the landlord, we take control of our own destiny, we are in charge of servicing and looking after our fields, we can plant more trees, or put a grand-stand, build dugouts on all the fields, host major events. To achieve everything the club is destined to achieve, we need people to help out, to roll up their sleeves and ask NOT WHAT THE CLUB CAN DO FOR ME, but rather what can I do for my club. It is important we take Caloundra FC to the next level and to be successful we need to ensure the facilities are utilized to the full potential. Never before in the clubs history, has your volunteering time being so important to the success of our club!!
Not to be outdone, we are in the process of creating a Football revolution to help us become the leaders in football development. Over the next few months we will be developing a new Club Motto, we will be re-decorating change room 1 and 2 and setting them up as the HOME change rooms. We will be working hard to instill the words Passion, Respect, Pride as part of our club culture, as well as create a set of training drills to help foster the style of Football our club wants to play. Instrumental in the development is our partnership with ATFA at Caloundra, we will be looking at growing the Academy to include a brand new age group, the 6s to under 8s as well as the 9s to 12 year olds and the 13s to 15s year old players. This will help our club become stronger and more competitive. Our club will be celebrating a fantastic year in 2018, I hope all parents and players join us and make it even more special!! Thanks so much for your time, hard work and dedication this season Nic Basile
Caloundra FC were successful in our application of the Football Queensland Skill Acquisition Program License. The Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) is a key component of the Football Federation Australia s National Football Curriculum. The Program is designed to perfect and accelerate the skill development of identified players between the critical ages of Under 9 to Under 12, having the "best of the best" players on the Coast training and playing together in these respective Elite Development Programs. This is the age group universally acknowledged to be the optimal mental and physical phase in which children are able to learn motor skills and the correct football techniques. SAP s aim is to provide the necessary technical tools to be able to play the game at the highest possible level with a focus on the functional game skills - striking the ball, first touch, running with the ball and 1 v 1's, with an immediate skills transfer into positioning and small-sided games being an absolute requirement. It is based on the 'World s Best Practice' and has been developed by internationally acclaimed Technical Coaches and the FFA Technical Department.
