Our Excursion Written by Grade 2

On Friday, at the crack of dawn, the Grade 2s woke from their big sleep at school. As the students got up, they looked around to find Ms Brooks bed empty. Where is she? wondered Biag Did she really sleep the night? asked Paddy. To their amazement, she walked through the door with wet hair, dressed ready for the excursion.

The students were talking very excitedly about their excursion. It sounded like a herd of elephants! Everyone was awake, everyone but Kylah who was sound asleep.

At breakfast, Sebastian lined up for his fifth piece of toast and when Phoebe was eating her cereal she nearly fell off her chair. Lily and Mackenzie spilt their milk over the table and Lara nearly put her drink in the wrong bin.

They all got to have a play before they left. Max and Archie played in the fairy garden and looked for different types of rocks. A little girl came past and they hid in the bushes. She didn t see them! Meanwhile, Cassie and Summer played on the playground.

The bell went and all the Grade 2s ran to their classroom, collected their things and lined up at the door. Grab my socks, yelled Maddy to Mason. I ll meet you on the bus. To Mason s surprise, one of her socks had fallen from his hand as he had gotten to the bus.

When they were all on Ms Brooks yelled WAIT! Half of the drink bottles were empty, Maddy s sock was on the ground and Mrs Roccisano had forgotten her hat. The journey had begun but not before long Tyler had been sick. The bus U turned and they had to go all the way back to school.

It was a long drive and Austin and Freya had fallen asleep on the way to Perry Sandhills. As the bus made its way through Merbein, Mrs Warn had to tell the bus driver to pull over. Julia was busting to go to the toilet. The library was closed so she couldn t use them there but the lady at the service station was kind enough to let them use hers.

They finally got to the sand hills after a 30 minute drive, listening to Archer snore. Just as they got to the sand hills Lucas fell into the prickle bush and Levi got sand in his eyes. Emily lay on the ground making sand angels. As Tyler made his way to the largest hill he said, I can smell the wilderness! while Freya commented on the weather, It s not too hot, not too cold, it s just right!

Mrs Warn and Mrs Roccisano called the kids in for cake and recess. They had to walk up and down some huge hills. They had some fruit and some cupcakes to recharge. It was pretty cool because it was Mason s birthday and everyone sang happy birthday. During snack, Ellie dropped her hat in the huge puddle of water. Mrs Roccisano had to go fishing and catch it. Obviously, it was a whopper and everyone laughed!

At Putt Putt Kaleb wanted to be like Tiger Woods with his big swings. Except, Peggy got hit in the head with the evil golf club and Antonio s ball hit Mrs Warn s foot. Darcy s ball got hit into the windmill and Lucas had to get it out. After that, Lucas had a seat with the gorilla who was watching everyone play. Xavier was on level 6 and as soon as he finished the course he went to the next one. On the way over, he tripped over the border and got a graze on his knee. Anyway everyone had fun!

After Putt Putt they made their way down to cross the road. When are we going to cross? Lara said. Finally, a nice old lady in her mini blue car stopped to let the group across. Thank you old lady I don t know, said Lara.

Everyone was getting a little tired and sweaty and Peggy and Xav were a little extra sore. It was time to make our lunch. The options were endless! Eavan stacked her roll full of salami, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and cucumber while Rory decided cucumber sandwiches weren t for him. Meanwhile, Rylie spilt her fillings all over the ground and the boys were feeding the birds with their crumbs.

Red and blue lights were flashing! We had been pulled over by Highway Patrol on the way to Sun City Rollerama. After they had made their checks, the police let us go as everyone couldn t wait to get their skates on.

The Grade 2s burst through the doors and put on their skates. Most people thought that they were easier but they definitely weren t! Then Holly changed to rollerblades pretty quickly. Elektra, Holly and Charlee found skates easy. Eva and Mia found it tricky while Korban sat frustrated because he ran out of time to swap his skates over.

Massey tried and tried and finally got himself across the rink without falling over. It was funny watching Geordie and Damon because they fell over at least 10 times. It had been a lot of fun! Then it was time to take off their skates and have a snack. It is now time to hop on the bus, the teachers said.

Just as they had all made it on the carpet, Diesel took a nose dive and managed to fracture his arm. As the Grade 2s made their way out of Rollerama leaving trails of sand behind Kerri said It looks like we have brought the sand hills with us.

They were finally heading to the bus until a few students noticed that Maddy had dropped her socks, AGAIN! That was the best day! yelled Mrs Warn Today was awesome! said Breanna But boy am I m tired, sighed Nikita

As the school bell rang and the students collected their things. Eva thought, Wouldn t it be funny if this become a book!

It s the Grade 2 excursion! Everybody is EXTREMELY excited! They went to many different places that were super fun but problems struck at all the places they went to.
