The Jefferson Shooter Official publication of The Jefferson State Shooting Association Inc. JANUARY YOUR LOCAL SHOOTING SPORTS ASSOCIATION 2017 OBAMA LEGACY: ATTACK LAW ABIDING GUN OWN- ERS! Social Security recipients to be entered in NICS database as prohibited persons for gun ownership. Earlier in the year the NRA warned that the SSA would attempt to classify thousands of social security recipients who receive disability payments for a listed mental health impairment or have been assigned a person to manage their finances into those prohibited from firearms ownership. They would be entered into the NICS system by administrative action and with no due process to protect their constitutional rights The rule has been finalized and these recipients will have to prove by medical and psychological means at SSA so called reasonable expense that they are at no risk because they own firearms. It should be that the government must prove they are ineligible rather than the citizen having to prove he is eligible to exercise his rights. The Obama administrations VA previously did the same thing to thousands of veterans cancelling their right to obtain firearms and forcing them to prove they are no danger to themselves or others. The SSA ignored protesting documentation from NRA and others. COMING ACTIVITIES ANNUAL MEETING AND ELEC- TION OF 2017 OFFICERS WED 18TH MIXED STEEL JAN 1ST Happy New Year! BULLET BUTTONS Political speak for a firearms magazine release in California. As of December 21st Californians can no longer buy a standard factory original semi automatic rifle without political meddling in firearms design. Up until that time the residents could possess a rifle that had their bullet button political modification that prevents magazine changes without using a tool thus disabling the standard factory magazine release. Californians that wish to retain possession of the unmodified rifle must register it with the state for a fee of course, so that down the road when the trolls in the legislature fabricate a reason for confiscation the authorities will know who has such firearms and where to find them, just like Australia and other nations that were bamboozled by their governments. The citizens will also be limited in the amount of ammunition they can have in the magazine to defend their lives. You will have only 10 rnds to solve the problem then you are SOL unless you brought along another rifle or two. Terrorists such as the San Bernardino radical Muslims don t pay much attention to laws against murder or assault with a deadly weapon so what are little things like illegal firearms or prohibited modifications? Do murderers really care what laws Kevin DeLeon or Gavin Newsome railroad through the legislature to be signed by an equally anti constitution Governor Jerry Brown? 2017 OREGON LEGISLATURE TO CONVENE ON JANUARY 9TH. We had an excellent show and that would not be possible without the 500+ volunteer hours, the 70 vendors, and the 2200+ (est.) attendees to the show! Looking forward to another wonderful show, April 29-30, 2017! Katie Fineauer. (Revised attendance: 1563 for both days) ED. ************************ Howdy Pards. Congrats to overall Match winner, Snake Oil Willy.(match of 12-11-16) Also congrats to Six Gun and Iron Man for shooting a clean match. Christmas dinner at Wubba's was once again fabulous. Dang they have some good food. Thanks for the toys that everyone who attended brought for our annual Toys for Tots donation. I heard that they are running a little light on toys for the kids this year so it was much appreciated Pards. We will be shooting Christmas Eve, the 24th, weather permitting of course. Hope to see ya'll there. If ya don't make it, I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I am scheduled to have rotator cuff surgery Jan. 3rd and won't be shooting for a couple of months but I hope to be up and around enough to be able to come out and RO or run the IPad. In front of the wood stove of course! 2 Jasper *********************** I am told the Larry Martin 200yd range now has siding around the firing line area and looking pretty spiffy. It sure will help on cold winter days like we are having now. I will get some pictures and publish them in the news letter some time in the near future. ********************* Mixed steel will be starting up on Jan 1st. Josh also has divisions for 22 rimfire handguns and rifles along with the customary centerfire arms usually used in the match. *********************** REMINDER! Nominations are being accepted for club officers at the annual election on January 18th.Please contact club secretary Jake Nelson If you have a candidate to submit. ********************** The Jefferson State Shooting Assn s annual shooting calendar is on the Sportsman s Park website rather than our own. The monthly newsletter will continue to contain a two month calendar that is posted to our website at jssainfo.org. ************************ Charlie has added an additional class to the steel challenge match on Dec 31st, it will be a pistol caliber carbine like Josh has in mixed steel. There will still be three basic divisions of open, limited and tactical. The PCC match will be a side match with a separate fee and cash prizes.

Box 7178, Klamath Falls, OR, 97602 PRINCIPLES OF SELF DEFENSE An essay by the late Col Jeff Cooper outlines seven tenets of defending oneself from attack by muggers, robbers and thugs they are enumerated as follows (abbreviated): 1. Alertness-Be alert to your surroundings and anyone in your vicinity. 2. Decisiveness-Be decisive in the actions you take. 3.Aggressiveness-Act aggressively in what you decide to do. 4. Speed-whatever you decide to do, do it quickly. 5. Coolness-You must keep cool and think clearly by all means. 6. Ruthlessness-Be utterly ruthless in the action you will to take. 7. Surprise-When you act it must be a surprise to your attacker that will catch him off guard. These principles also have applications in other circumstances. I would apply them to our President elect for he did not get to his success in the business world by inattentiveness, timidity or indecisive actions. Our new president appears to be capable of acting with aggressiveness and a cool head quickly with surprise when necessary and ruthlessness when required. I would say that there will be no question of who is in charge. of the USA after January 20th. HAPPY NEW YEAR! JEFFERSON STATE YOUTH SHOOTERS BUSY SCHEDULE! Firearms training and practice sessions on the Larry Martin 200 yd range two Saturday s every month, archery training at Susie s Archery store in Keno two evenings per month, sporting clays on two Saturday s monthly May through September, various fund raisers during the year, helping and manning information booth at two gun shows a year and will be catering our Christmas dinner party this year at the fairgrounds. Program director Katie Fineauer must have her hands full! BLOOMBERG BOMBS AGAIN! Nevada passed a Bloomberg backed background check law for private gun sales by a scant margin that was not supported by the majority of the state s law enforcement community, the Attorney General or Governor and is unenforceable. The problem is the FBI will not perform NICS checks for private sales for the state. Their statement reads that states cannot dictate how federal agencies allocate their resources. Die hard Democrats say they will again try the legislature. 4
