The Red Bulls took the first match, 1-0 at Audi Field on July 25 when Bradley Wright-Phillips tallied his 100th career league goal. The Red Bulls have won five of the last eight Atlantic Cups and can win their second straight cup with a win on Sunday. New York concludes their two-match home stand against Houston on Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG, MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish on TuneIn. UNITED After a weather-delayed start, Bradley Wright-Phillips didn t wait long to bring the Atlantic Cup goods to Audi Field, scoring his 100th MLS career goal -- all for the New York Red Bulls -- in the 2nd minute of an eventual 1-0 victory over D.C. United on Wednesday. Shortly after the conclusion of an 87-minute delay due to lightning, MLS assist leader Kaku slipped a through ball that released BWP, who collected it back to his right foot. He curled a shot toward the near post that caromed off a diving David Ousted and into the back of the net. Wright-Phillips then shed his jersey to reveal... another jersey, this one with the No. 100 replacing his usual 99. Paul Arriola put a ball in the back of the net midway through the first half, but it was disallowed after a Video Review established that he was offside. Second-half sub Wayne Rooney went down in the 66th, looking for a penalty shout, but the teams played on following a check with the VAR. ATLANTIC CUP RIVALRY Sunday s match between New York and D.C. United will be the second match of the 2018 rivalry. The Atlantic Cup is awarded to the winner of the regular season series between the two clubs, which first came about in 2002. The Red Bulls have won five of the last eight Atlantic Cups, most recently coming last season with an aggregate score of 7-4. The Red Kit was created in collaboration with adidas to reflect the identity of the club and its supporters. The new Bold Red kit was engineered specifically for the New York Red Bulls by adidas. The stripes and square mesh panels run throughout the fabric of the kit as nods to the buildings and bridges of the city. A drop-hem fit can style on the field and the street. In 16 league matches that New York has worn the Red jersey, the Red Bulls are 10-2-4 and have outscored their opponents, 32-14, when they wear the jersey. In obtaining their green cards, Collin and Lawrence both open up international spots on New York s roster. The Red Bulls currently have nine players that are designated as internationals on their first team. NEW DEALS New York recently signed Sean Davis and Daniel Royer to new MLS deals. Davis, 25, has been an integral part of the Red Bulls since his Homegrown deal began in 9 9

He capped off the season as a starter in the championship match and assisted the game-winning goal. Davis also spent two seasons with the Red Bulls U-18s, starting 50 matches, which included a team-best 31 starts in his second season. The Austrian midfielder caught fire during the month of July, rattling off six league goals over a four-match span to earn MLS Player of the Week and Player of the Month honors. Royer produced at least one point in 13 of the 26 league matches and in all three MLS playoff games last year. Royer has been able to produce offensively across all competitions for New York. In 50 matches played in a Red Bulls shirt, he has tallied 17 goals (13 league, two MLS Cup playoff, one U.S. Open Cup and one Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League). He has been an assistant coach for three and a half seasons, two of which as the top assistant, guiding New York s offensive attack. Under Armas leadership, the Red Bulls attack has tallied three-straight 50-plus goal and assist seasons, a Golden Boot Award winner (Wright-Phillips, 2016), and a back-to-back Silver Boot Award winner (Kljestan, 2016-17). Armas was drafted by the Los Angeles Galaxy in the inaugural MLS draft in 1996 after two professional seasons with the Long Island Rough Riders of the USISL. earned 66 caps for the United States. Armas retired at the end of the 2007 season after 12 years in MLS. He served the following season as an assistant coach for the Fire under current Red Bulls sporting director Denis Hamlett. Armas returned to the New York area with his family, serving as head coach of the women s varsity team at Adelphi University on Long Island from 2011 through 2014. Armas led the program to back-to-back conference title game appearances in the NE-10, and reached the ECAC Championship in 2014. After two seasons with the Galaxy, Armas was traded to the Chicago Fire ahead of their inaugural 1998 campaign, the same offseason the club acquired Marsch. Armas played a large role in the Fire s storied run to the 1998 MLS Cup and U.S. Open Cup double in their first season. Armas was named to the MLS Best XI for four straight seasons from 1998 through 2001 before seeing his streak broken by an ACL injury that caused him to miss much of the 2002 campaign. He bounced back in 2003, being named MLS Comeback Player of the Year and MLS Best XI for the fifth time. Armas is one of just four players to earn Best XI distinction five times, second only to Landon Donovan s seven Best XI selections. Armas played in 264 MLS regular season games, 260 of which were starts, recording 12 goals and 48 assists. Appearing in 37 playoff games, Armas found a bulk of his success with Marsch at the Fire, winning four Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup titles and an MLS Supporters Shield in addition to the 1998 MLS Cup. Captaining the side from 2003-2007, he was named an MLS All- Star six times and was voted team MVP in 2003. He was also named U.S. Soccer s Male Athlete of the Year in 2000. After the Fire s double-winning campaign in 1998 Armas became a regular for the U.S. Men s National Team, cracking the lineup just after the 1998 World Cup. He was part of the FIFA Gold Cup squads in 2002 and 2005, and was initially named to the 23-man roster for the 2002 World Cup in Japan before suffering an injury in a friendly leading up to the tournament.
