There will be a MANDATORY LIVESTOCK MEETING at 7 PM on Wednesday, November 13th at the Public Relations Building in Lutcher. All Livestock shown in St. James Parish must be registered in the 4-H Office. Entry Forms and Signed Rules & Regulations must be submitted as follows: Parish, District, State Beef Breeding, Lambs, Goats, Dairy, Chickens, and Swine Breeding November 9, 2013. Parish, District, State Market Swine December 7th, 2013. Parish Rabbit Show January 1st, 2014. Steer possession date was August 15th. Lambs, goats, breeding animals and commercial animals, market animals must be tagged and tested in St. James, November 8th, 2013. All market hogs will be tagged and tested at an assigned location in the week of December 9th, 2013. Rabbit possession day is January 1, 2014. Congratulations to Da Lyasia Landry, our October 4-H Member of the Month! 4-H MEMBER OF THE MONTH Da Lyasia is 4-H member at Vacherie Elementary. This 5th grader is described as dedicated and always willing to give a helping hand with 4-H activities! When asked why she likes 4-H, Da Lyasia replied, It s a FUN CLUB! I like to go to meetings and participate at the Fast Food Farm. I also love going to Achievement Day because I get AWARDS for doing good work. Da Lyasia is the daughter of Terrance and Tameka Landry. OPERATION: 4-H, Helping our Military Heroes 2013-14 State Service Learning Focus This year at 4-H U, the State Citizenship Board voted MILITARY as the state s service learning focus for the year. In effort to create awareness of and support for our military personnel, the board has monthly suggestions for ways your elementary and high school age clubs can get involved. High School Clubs can report any Military Service Projects to the 4-H Agents by May 15th to be eligible for outstanding project awards at 4-H U. All clubs can be recognized for their Military Service Projects at Achievement Day. Ask your club leader for a copy of the OPERATION:4-H flyer or visit 4-hmilitarypartnerships.org for ideas.
