ROCKY HILLS HORSE CLUB MARCH 2016 NEWSLETTER BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER! Wow, 2015 was a really great year, with lots of horse events happening in and around the Rocky Hills area. We had a number of new members, & many adult riders looking for fun times with their horses. Some didn't have horses, but were always able to join us, at the campfire, or on the trails. The two shows, the penning practice, and the camping trip were absolutely a highlight. Special thanks to the fantastic executive of 2015, who went above and beyond! Your participation & hard work were amazing, and very much appreciated by all! THE KIDS ARE A BIG HIT! Our horse kids really make it all worth while! It's always nice to see kids having a goal, and a reason to ride, whether it's to hit the trails, or head to the show ring. Our shows are really welcoming to new riders, and to youths. Everything from Lead Line to Adult Novice Classes, to fun games and 'outside the box' classes that really make the smiles roll in! This year, your executive have some really great 'kid friendly' events planned, making for an exciting summer! Don't forget to check out the smaller events, such as the tack swap, and the Bits and Bites, which are all great ways to get out and enjoy the weekends, whether you have horses or not! Well another summer is coming fast, and we are really looking forward to continuing the fun stuff we did last year! For those of you who missed the RHHC events, you really missed a great time! The Camping trip to Forrester's Falls was really fun, and everyone had a GREAT time. I was happy to see so many people out, enjoying the social aspects of this event. We even had a lot of 'non horse' people come and enjoy the facilities, which was great! All of our events last year were tailored to newcomers, with something for everyone. We had a lot of adult participation last year, which was great, but we'd like to see more kids coming out to enjoy the festivities. There is no better way to spend a day than with horses, and your fellow horse lovers! It's very important that everyone feel welcome. The contact list on the website gives all the contact information for our executive, as well as schedule updates. If you haven't joined us yet, don't be afraid to come and check us out at an event. Together, we can make 2016 another GREAT YEAR!

SUNDAY JUNE 4, 2016 - SALE/SWAP 10 AM to 2 PM TABLE SPACE IS FREE FOR MEMBERS & $10 FOR NON MEMBERS TACK SUCH AS BRIDLES, HALTERS, SADDLES, STABLE SUPPLIES, VIDEOS, BOOKS... THERE WERE SADDLES LAST YEAR! SALE RUNS UNTIL 2 PM JUNE 4 CAN I DO THE HORSE SHOWS? OF COURSE! Our horse shows are geared towards new riders, and are set up in a 'user friendly' format. If you've never shown a horse before, it's a great way, to get out and give it a whirl. We all go through show jitters, but it's such a friendly riding atmosphere at our shows, that you are sure to have a great time. There is always lots of help available for answers to questions, and it's a great experience to try it in a relaxing venue. TWO SHOWS, TWO AREA BARNS, IN 2016 FOR MORE INFORMATION, CHECK US OUT ON THE WEB AT rockyhillshorseclub.com WHAT ARE 'FRIDAY FUN NIGHTS'? A great time to get out, take your horses somewhere, meet people, ride in a nice sand ring, practice things you are working on, get advice from other horse folks, meet new people, teach your horse how to behave in public...the list goes on! HELD AT THE MAYNOOTH LOGGERS FIELD! *riders are responsible for having their own liability insurance for these events FOR MORE INFORMATION, CONTACT CARLA AT carla.vanbalenwalter@gmail.com HORSE COUNTRY CAMPGROUND FIELD TRIP In 2015, many members commented that this was the MOST FUN of all the things we planned last year. So we are going again in 2016! There are bathroom facilities, water to every campsite, a turnout paddock with every campsite, fire pits, access to the resort (hot tub, pool, restaurant) and your other RHHC pals will be there! Forty km of trails on site, white water rafting right on the facility, and access to their Mountain Trail obstacle course, a sure hit and great horse training opportunity! And best of all - great for those on a budget! It's not too late to join us! Trip is scheduled for June 10-12th, 2016! If you have a horse trailer and like to camp, call Horse Country Campground and get your deposit in! Just tell them that you are with the Rocky Hills Horse Club Group. If you don't have a trailer, there are a few people with room, so we'll try and hook you up! So no excuse not to come join the convoy this year, and have some camping fun with your horses and new friends! It's going to be a riot - don't be sorry you missed it!
