EXT. ATHENA S HOUSE - NIGHT TITLE CARD: MAY 16, 2000 Beautiful suburban neighborhood. Lush trees, green grass. The neighborhood is quiet, save a female voice barely heard. A male silhouette walks past windows on the first floor, with LIGHTS GOING OUT as he pauses. A van pulls up and stops just in front of the house. The head lamps turn off as the engine stops. WILLIAMS, mid 30s, sits by the 2nd floor window reading a unusual bedtime story to her child... The villagers gasped as the knight walked out of the wreckage and past the dragon s carcass. Armor blackened in places, the knight walked up to the arrogant prince... INT. ATHENA S HOUSE, ATHENA S ROOM - CONTINUOUS Fiona cradles her daughter ATHENA, 6, who leans against her mother....who hid from the battle. The prince tries to regain his regal bearing as he applauds the knight. Never in all my years have I ever seen the dragon fall. The prince points to the villagers. None of these harlots here have ever dared to challenge the beast. Even I thought it was impossible. How is it that you managed such a feat? The knight pauses as it looks at the villagers, then at the prince. Fiona looks up and smiles as WILLIAMS, late 30s, leans into the doorway as he unties his tie. He smiles at his girls. (CONT D) And with a mighty backhand, the knight knocks the prince down on his rear. The armored figure removes the helmet to reveal that he is actually a she. The knight walks past him and says, maybe you weren t man enough.

2. Nate clears his throat. The girls both look up. Let s call it a night. You can read the book by yourself tomorrow. Oh come on! Hey, we let you sit up and watch Angel. You ve had enough excitement for tonight. All right. (to Athena) Night, you. Fiona kisses Athena s forehead, leaves the book by the night stand. Fiona tucks her in and blocks Athena from her father s view. Fiona hands her a mini-flashlight. Fiona leans back, gives Athena a wink, who returns it. Nate comes over and gives Athena a kiss. Night Princess. He turns off the girl s unicorn lamp. Both parents leave, shutting the door behind them. Athena listens to them walk away, then pulls out the flashlight, smiling. (O.S.) You could ve given us a few more minutes. INT. 2ND FLOOR HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS Surprised she lets you still read to her. And that s why I wanted a few more minutes. Fiona wraps her arms around Nate. (CONT D) I m not going to be able to do that too much longer. (MORE)

3. He kisses her. (CONT D) She s getting older. She ll be too cool to do that anymore. I won t be cool anymore. What, with what you do for a living? You the coolest mom on earth. Always. (CONT D) And the sexiest. Fiona grabs that loose tie around his neck, plays with it. How sexy? Maybe I ll show you. Oh, is that why you shut us down? Maybe. He swats her ass. She giggles and start to sashay away. (CONT D) Keep it warm for me. Be right-- SOUNDS OF BREAKING GLASS. Fiona and Nate trade looks. Call it in-- No, YOU call it in. Back me up. He slides off his shoes and heads down the steps as quietly as he can. She shakes her head, walks into her bedroom-- INT. PARENTS BEDROOM - MOMENTS LATER Fiona pulls a CASE from under the bed. The locks snap open-- Case flies open, revealing a SIG Sauer P226--

4. A magazine is loaded into the well, a round chambered-- Fiona thumbs the slide release, ready to go. INT. DINING ROOM - MOMENTS LATER Nate slowly walks into the dining room, the light SWISH of his clothes moving against him. Checks under the table, then behind him. Looks into the kitchen-- INT. KITCHEN - SAME TIME Broken glass lie by the door. There is a circular hole by the back door window. INT. DINING ROOM - CONTINUOUS Nate leans against the wall right next to the doorway to the kitchen. Beat. The FLOOR CREAKS in the kitchen. Nate goes in low, right underneath an armed man dressed in all black. Uppercut takes the armed man right off his feet, KO. WHAP! Nate takes a hit right in the shoulder, goes down spinning. Another armed man stand right over him- BLAM! Drops to the ground. Nate looks up. Fiona s at the stairwell, gun pointed. She runs over, helps him to his feet. They make it to the stairs. Fiona s scanning the room, gun pointed. Nate sees something, grabs his wife and turns. WHAP! WHAP! WHAP! Three shots to the back; he falls. Fiona fires, headshot on the shooter, also dressed in black. Fiona reaches for Nate-- INT. 2ND FLOOR HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS A SCREAM from upstairs. Fiona chases the sound. INT. ATHENA S BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS Fiona bursts in-- another man is about to shoot Athena. They look at each other, exchange fire. The black-clad figure takes two in the chest; Fiona takes one in the shoulder, drops the gun. Fiona uses the momentum to finish with a spinning thrust kick, sending the man flying out the window. Beat. A THUD from the guy hitting the lawn. Athena runs over to Fiona, who s bleeding heavily.

5. Mommy! Fiona shushes Athena with a finger to her daughter s lips. Fiona turns back to the door. FOOTSTEPS are getting louder. Fiona picks up the gun, does a press check, sighs. She takes Athena to the window and scans the area. Athena nods. Honey, I got a job for you. It s really important. Super cool stuff. Think you can do it? (CONT D) I m going to drop you out of this window. You hit the ground, and you run. What about you? I ll be right behind you. Cover you, like Billy in Predator. Billy died, Mom. Mommy s friends will be over soon and we ll handle this. Run, and don t look back. Hit the police station and stay there. One of mommy s friends will meet you there. Deal? Athena grabs her in a hug. Fiona picks her up and leans her out the window-- EXT. HOUSE - CONTINUOUS Athena s feet dangles from the second floor window. Fiona suppresses a GROAN from her shoulder injury.

6. Athena s grip lessens, from a hug to holding on the her mother s arm with one hand. Athena looks down, then back up to Fiona-- WHAP! Fiona s body lurches forward from getting shot. Fiona looses her grip. Athena falls-- EXT. HOUSE, YARD - CONTINUOUS ANGLE Athena- she lands on the dead man who fell out before. She looks up-- Fiona lets out a gasp. Fires about couple rounds underneath her bad arm into the room. Looks at Athena. (wheezing) RUN! Fiona disappears back into the room. FLASHES accompanying loud GUNSHOTS. Athena takes off running. Houselights throughout the neighborhood are coming on. Another man in black exits from the kitchen door. Spots Athena, gives chase, fires. Athena s weaving as bullets hits tree bark. The man closes the distance. Athena s out in the open-- no more cover. She looks back-- The man has a bead on her-- he pauses, looks past Athena. RECOGNITION. Athena runs into a body at waist level-- A WOMAN. The woman smoothly moves Athena back behind her-- BLAM! A bright red mist come from the back of the assassin s head. Drops like a rock. Athena looks at the prone body in shock. The woman is speaking to her, but it sounds like her voice is coming from a fishbowl. SIRENS grow louder in the distance. MARGARET (O.S.) Athena! Athena! The woman shakes Athena s shoulder. CUE TITLES: VALKYRIE
