If you wish to register for the junior golf program complete the registration form and send it to George Bowlin, Jr. Golf Representative by May 20, 2000. Who is eligible to play? Girls and Boys between the ages of 11 and 18 years. What does the Junior Golf Program include? An opportunity to play the University of Minnesota Golf course on several Monday mornings throughout the summer. Junior golfers may play either 9 or 18 holes of golf beginning Monday June 12 - August 28, 2000 (last day). Please note: no junior golf on Monday July 3, July 24, Monday August 7, and August 21, 2000. Monday tee times Tee times between 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM When these tee times are filled, they are filled, with no more available. Junior players report to golf pro shop (west end of clubhouse) at least 15 minutes before your tee time. Players may play either 9 or 18 holes - however, there will be no 9 hole rate. The University of Minnesota Men's Golf Club sponsors one Boys and one Girls Team that plays in tournaments conducted by the Minnesota Golf Association (MGA) at golf courses nearby. How do junior golfer sign up? Junior golfers must notify George Bowlin if they wish to register for the Junior Golf Program by May 20, 2000. Junior players must complete the registration form and mail it to the address at the bottom. A roster of players must be submitted to the Golf Course Manager. Players not signed up will not be allowed to play on the designated junior golf days. What does it cost to participate in the program? There is NO registration fee for the Junior Golf Program The University of Minnesota Men's Golf Club provides financial support Junior players will be expected to pay for green fees and golf balls, and practice golf balls if using the driving/ practice range. Green Fees for Juniors and Adults for the designated Junior Golf Day only are as follows: 9 or 18 holes - $13.00 per Jr. Player (1) Parent/Guardian and (1) Junior playing 9 or 18 holes - $26.00

Typically these are very advanced junior players. The University of Minnesota Men's Golf Club Jr. Golf Representative will select a total of six boys to play as a team and five girls to play as a team in the Minnesota Golf Association (MGA) sponsored district competitions scheduled for June and July. Selected players are expected to be available to play in all four district events. In the event either an individual or team qualifies, the regional tournament will be held in late July (location TBD) and the state championship on August 7-8, 2000 at the University of Minnesota Golf Course. Junior Golf Information - 2000 GOLF COURSE ETIQUETTE: Remember it is a privilege to play golf. Replace all divots and ball marks on greens. Let faster players go through. Move quickly from the green to the next tee. Mark down your score on the next tee. For beginners, if you have taken 7 strokes and have not yet reached the green, pick up your golf ball and carry it to the green and putt out with your group. Record your score as a 7 plus the number of putts. POLICY: On Junior Golf Day, if any player deliberately damages the course the course manager will close the course the following Monday. If at any time during the remainder of the junior golf season a second incident occurs, junior golf day will be canceled for the remainder of the season. Poor etiquette will not be tolerated and junior players will need to take responsibility for their behavior on the course. TEE TIME POLICY: Make your tee time one week in advance. Call the Pro Shop at 612-627- 4000 to make a tee time. If you can not keep your scheduled tee time, call the Pro Shop to cancel. Two (2) no shows for a reserved tee time will result in the junior player not receiving preferred tee times in the future. The golf course staff reserve the right to limit play based on ability and playing conditions. If you can't play or are uncertain, don't make a tee time. Junior Golf Dates for 2000 Tee Times 9:30 am to 11:00 am June 12 July 3 (no golf) August 7-8 (State Championships) June 19 July 10 August 14 June 26 July 17 (Jr. Championship) August 21 (no golf) July 24 (no golf) August 28 July 31 Note: On Monday July 17, the Jr. Club Championship will be contested. The Pro Shop has been instructed to reserve a block of tee times beginning at 9:30 am in order to accomodate all players wishing to compete in the tournament. Any tee times remaining will be available to junior players not competing in the club championship. Junior players may find out their assigned tee time by calling the Pro Shop on July 10. On Monday August 7 and Tuesday August 8, the Minnesota Golf Association Junior Championship will be held the the University of Minnesota Golf Course. Only junior players who have qualified for this tournament will be able to play. Normal play will resume on Monday August 14. Parents/Guardians: We are once again offering you the opportunity to play with your junior player on the designated junior golf day. We feel this a great opportunity for you to get out and play a round of golf (at a reduced green fee) with your junior player. Parents/guardians are asked not to invite other adults who don't have a junior player to play at this time. Junior players wishing to obtain a Minnesota Golf Association (MGA) handicap, should contact George Bowlin. Don't send a check or money. 6th Annual Junior Golf Club Championship U of MN Golf Course Monday July 17 Championship Format There will be a Boys' and Girls' Division. Entrants in the club championship will have the opportunity to play with other junior players according to the following age groups: Boys Girls 11-13 years 11-13 years 14-15 years 14-15 years 16-18 years 16-18 years If a junior player is more skilled than his/her peers, he/she may advance to another age group. For the 11-13 year old group, all players will play one 9 holes. The champion will be the player with the lowest score for 9 holes. For the 14-15 and 16-18 year old group, all players will play 18 holes. The champion will be the player with the lowest score for 18 holes. There has been no provision made for a practice round. In the event of rain, the tournament may be rescheduled or shortened. Entry All entry forms must arrive by 4:30 pm on June 30, 2000. The Jr. Golf Representative will inform the Pro Shop to hold a block of tee times for Jr. Players wishing to play in the Club Championship. You may call the Pro Shop on July 10 to find out your assigned tee time. You will likely be paired with other players (male or female) in your age group. Eligibility A player must be registered for the Junior Golf Program. The player must not reach his/her 19th birthday prior to September 1, 2000. All entries are subject to the approval or rejection of the Junior Golf Representative. Player Conduct The Rules Officials will strongly enforce a code of conduct from all players. Unbecoming conduct includes, but is not limited to the following: 1. Any use of loud profanity reported and corroborated will be penalized. 2. Any club throwing, club slamming or other disruptive behavior will be penalized. Player's Responsibilities The U of MN Golf Course has been very generous in making its facilities available for this Championship. As a contestant, in appreciation of the opportunity to participate in the Championship, I promise to conduct myself appropriately, abide by the Rules of Golf and/or any local rules of the Championship, respect the property of the U of MN Golf Course and will not litter, damage or destroy their property. I understand that by violating any of these promises, I will subject myself to disqualification by the Junior Golf Representative/Tournament Committee. Prizes Individual Champions in each age group will receive a trophy or medal. The players name will be engraved on a plaque which will be permanently located at the U of MN Golf Course Clubhouse.

Application for Entry Junior Club Championship University of Minnesota Golf Course July 17, 2000 Please enter my name for play in the Junior Club Championship. The entry fee for all junior players will be $13.00 which is payable at the time the player reports for his/her tee time. For the 11-13 yr. old players, the score for holes 1-9 will be used to determine the club champion. Players wishing to play holes 10-18 may do. All players must sign and turn in their score card at the Pro Shop. The entry fee is the established green fee for the 2000 golf season.
