SUMMER 2018 COACHES CORNER Hello Little Neck community. As your athletic director, I am looking forward to the summer. I am excited to have Gabby Gillette returning for her 2nd year and Mia Sampson in her 1st year as the 2018 Coaches. The coaches have an exciting summer planned and cannot wait for the fun to begin. Dates and times for Coach & Swim Lessons 2018: Coach Starts Monday, June 25, 9:00 AM to Noon at the ball field o Each week, Monday through Friday Swim Lessons 1:00 to 4:00 the specific times will be posted for each skill level Ivy Watson Memorial Float & Corn Hole Tournament Saturday, July 28 th Shaving Cream Fight/Slip-n-slide Friday, August 17 Last day of Coach Friday, August 24 Flash Light Parade Friday, August 24 Gala Day SUNDAY, August 26 (yes, we are going to have Gala Day on a Sunday this year) Coach is a Little Neck tradition and is open to everyone. No advanced registration is needed. Everyone gathers at the ball field at 9:00 AM and the Coaches lead the kids for a morning of games and activities. After lunch, the Coaches meet the kids on the beach or the dock depending on the tides, for swimming lessons. Coach activities are organized to be age appropriate. The activities will be organized around the schedule, attendance, weather and group opinion. Coaches have a HUGE list of games, activities and events to incorporate into the summer program. This year we will be adding a few new events including some parent vs. kids games at the ball field. Swim lessons are an important aspect of being a kid on Little Neck. The ocean currents are challenging for even the best of swimmers and it is a good idea for kids to become competent and confident in the water around the Neck. The Coach Swim Lessons provide a consistent environment for learning. Groups will be established based on ability and the times for each group will be communicated in the early summer. The coaches will communicate the schedule, reminders and updates to all families via the Little Neck, Ipswich Facebook group. If you need anything this summer, I m at 18 Baycrest Rd. Please feel free to contact me via email, text or cell phone or speak with my wife MaryBeth or daughters Lindsay, Mia and Eliza. Thanks in advance to Gabby and Mia for what they do for the kids. Cheers, Keith Sampson (Athletic Director) Cell: 617-633-9320 Email: ksampson@competitive-energy.com
