Miami Hall of Fame Kathy Tepe 1987 Wendy Tepe 1987 Hall of Fame Class of 1994 Kathy Tepe Kathy Tepe Bessler and Wendy Tepe Tobergte were among the six inducted into Miami University s Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994. Twin sisters, Kathy and Wendy were an explosive combination for the Red and White from 1983-86. Among the honors they shared were winning Miami s Leann Grimes Davidge Memorial Award in 1987 and being named co-female Athletes of the Year for the 1986-87 academic year. Kathy, a dietetics major, ended her senior year as Miami s all-time leader in kills with 1,398 and currently ranks second for career kills. She holds Miami single-season record for most kills per game (4.26 in 1985). She ranked 17th in the Wendy Tepe country in attack percentage her senior year (.353). Kathy was named all-mideast Region in 1986 and earned all-mac honors three years, including first-team distinction in 1985 and 1986. In 1986, she was selected as a Third-Team GTE Academic All-American. Wendy, an elementary education major, is Miami s all-time leader in solo blocks (108), attack percentage (.325) and blocks per game average (1.07). She also holds Miami s single-match record with 30 kills and is among the top five in seven other categories. She ranked 16th in the country in attack percentage her senior year (.355). Like her sister, Wendy was named to the all-mideast Region team in 1986 and was a three-time all-mac selection, earning first-team recognition in 1985 and 1986. In 1986, Wendy was named a Second-Team GTE Academic All-American. The duo helped the Red and White to a 95-39 record over their four seasons with Miami, a.709 winning percentage. Karen Lepley 1989 Hall of Fame Class of 1999 As Miami s first MAC Player of the Year in volleyball, Karen Lepley Irons set a standard that only three other Miami volleyball players have lived up to by earning the MAC s top individual award: Lori Reinart in 1996, Jessica Stout in 1997 and Alissia Thompson in 1998. The four-year letterwinner still owns the best single-season dig per game average (3.89) and has the second-best single-season dig total (451). Her name remains on eight-of-nine season Top-10 lists and seven-of-ten career Top-10 charts. Lepley became the first athlete in the history of the program to surpass the 1,000-kill and dig marks, amassing 1,188 kills and 1,154 digs during her career. She was a First-Team All-MAC and AVCA all-region selection in 1988 and garnered second-team all-conference recognition in 1987. In 1987 and 88, Lepley was chosen to participate in the prestigious Olympic Sports Festival where she won a gold and bronze medal, respectively. She was the first of only two Miami volleyball players to participate in an Olympic Sports Festival. 86 Karen Lepley Sandy Secoy 1982 Hall of Fame Class of 2003-04 Sandy Secoy became the first player in Miami volleyball history to earn First-Team All-MAC honors, garnering the award in 1980. She helped Miami to back-to-back MAC titles and postseason tournament appearances in 1980 and 1981, the first championships in the program s history. During her career, she helped Miami compile 132 wins and a.727 winning percentage. She was a two-year captain for the Red and White, serving in the position as a junior and senior. Secoy returned to Miami in 1983 to serve as an assistant coach for one season. Elaine Hieber Elaine Hieber Coach/Administrator Hall of Fame Class of 1999 Elaine Hieber helped pioneer women s athletics at Miami University. During her tenure as associate athletics director, she established seven women s varsity sports to compete at the AIAW Division I level, while instituting and expanding grant-in-aids for female student-athletes. The first full-time women s coach at Miami and in the state of Ohio was hired during Hieber s stint, and she was instrumental in the expansion of the women s staff to include four full-time head coaches, one part-time coach, one part-time assistant coach, one full-time assistant athletic trainer, a full-time equipment manager and a full-time assistant sports information director. In addition to her administrative efforts, Hieber served as the head coach for four sports, including sitting at the helm of the basketball, volleyball and softball programs for the 1974 and 75 seasons. In 1976, she took the reigns of the tennis program and produced a 43-21 record and boasted second-place showings in the Ohio College Women s Tennis Tournament in 1976, 78 and 79. Hieber left the Miami Athletic Department in 1979 to take a position as the associate athletic director at Iowa State. She lives in Ames, Iowa, and recently retired as the senior associate athletic director and senior woman s administrator for the Cyclones. 2009 Volleyball Sandy Secoy

Miami Hall of Fame Carolyn Condit ANGEL MILLER 1992 Hall of Fame Class of 2008 Carolyn Condit Coach Hall of Fame Class of 2002 Carolyn Condit has directed Miami s volleyball program since 1984, winning five Mid-American Conference championships and mentoring four MAC Players of the Year along the way. A five-time MAC Coach of the Year, Condit won her 350th match at Miami during the 2001 campaign while guiding the Red and White to its 11th MAC Tournament appearance. In 1998, Condit led Miami to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time, guiding the Red and White to the MAC s regular-season and tournament championships. The 1998 team finished with 27 wins, including the program s first NCAA Tournament victory. She is the winningest coach in Miami history and also ranks among all-time Division I coaches in wins. Along with her success on the court, Condit has guided her student-athletes to success in the classroom, producing four academic All-Americans. Angel Miller was a two-time First-Team All-MAC volleyball selection in 1990 and 1991, earning AVCA All-District II accolades and Second-Team Academic All-MAC honors in 1991. Twice Miller earned MAC All-Tournament Team honors (1990 and 91), being named the 1990 MAC Tournament MVP after leading Miami to its first tournament title in nearly 10 years and just the second NCAA Tournament berth in program history. She helped Miami to the 1991 NIVC semifinals. Miller remains Miami s career record holder for kills per game (3.33) and its single-season record holder for kills (527 in 1991). She finished her career as the Red and White s career record holder in digs (1,157) and was second in career kills (1,344). She currently ranks fifth in career kills and digs and is one of just eight players in program history to amass 1,000 kills and digs in a career. Additionally, Miller ranks among Miami s career top 10 in digs per game, service aces and hitting percentage, while also ranking among the top 10 in singleseason digs, kills per game and service aces. She participated in the Olympic Sports Festival in 1990 and `91, earning bronze medals each year. Angel Miller Stephanie Otten 1995 Hall of Fame Class of 2009-10 Stephanie Otten was one of the best all-around players in Miami history. She is the RedHawks all-time leader in kills with 1,528, and is tops in digs among non-liberos with 1,467. She was a two-time All- MAC selection, earning second-team honors in 1994 and first-team honors in 1995. She was also a two-time MAC All-Tournament team selection (1994 and 1995) and was named Miami s Leann Grimes Davidge Award winner in 1995. During her senior season, she led the RedHawks to a 24-7 record and a MAC regular-season championship with a 15-2 conference mark.
