In order to prepare for the season, and the District V Tournament, I have enclosed the girls tennis format and rating sheet. Please make some copies for your records, and for weekly updates. Please complete the attached rating sheet with your current information and return it to me ASAP. As we progress through the season, please fax or email me an updated copy of the rating sheet every Monday morning. Also included in this packet is information about the singles and the doubles tournaments, as well as the team tournament. Please fill these out and return them to my office. The singles tournament will be held on Monday, October 10th. The doubles tournament will be held on Monday, October 17th. Players eliminated in the singles tournament may return and participate in the doubles tournament. All schools will be notified in a timely manner in the case of inclement weather. Both tournaments will have participants playing 10 game pro-sets until we reach the finals, where the best of 3 sets will determine the winner. District V may qualify one individual and one doubles team for the PIAA Tennis Championships. To enter participants from your school into this year s tournament, please complete the enclosed form and return it to my office prior to Friday, September 30th. Each school is permitted to enter 2 contestants in the singles tournament and 2 teams in the doubles tournament. DIRECTIONS FOR COMPLETING LADDER LINE-UP FORM: Each team shall consist of three (3) singles players and two (2) doubles teams. Players may only play one event (singles or doubles). Each team, listing players in decending order of ability, shall establish a ladder line-up from 1 to 10. The ladder submitted for the teams shall represent the strongest line-up for that team. The first three (3) students shall play singles in the order they are listed on the strength ladder line-up. Beginning with the fourth student listed on the strength ladder line-up, any four of the remaining seven students may comprise the doubles teams. The doubles team having the highest level of ability shall occupy the number 1 position and the doubles team having the second highest level of ability shall occupy the number 2 position. No player shall be eligible for a doubles team unless they are listed on the teams strength ladder line-up. Teams shall submit their strength ladder line-ups, which shall specify singles player #1, singles player #2, singles player #3, doubles team #1 and doubles team #2 at the beginning of the District Team Tennis Tournament. With the exception of authorized substitutions for illness, or injury, or other extenuating
circumstances (as determined by the appropriate Tournament Director), a team s strength ladder line-up may not be changed throughout the respective District and Inter-District Team Tennis Tournament.
