Levin Cosmopolitan Club Inc What do our staff do on their days off? Over the last 2 months there have been lots of activities going on in our club. It was a real eye opener for me to witness how our staff go about organising all these activities. Labour weekend we had a major pool tournament which meant a lot of moving of pool tables and furniture, lighting to be organised etc. This event could not have happened without the help of our staff plus the merry band of volunteers. This event was followed up by the Melbourne Cup day. I asked Lisa what she would like me to do to help set up the room, corporate tables and the cat walk for the fashion parade. Once told what needed doing, I thought how on earth can all this be done in a very short time frame? To my surprise in walked the bar staff that were on their day off to help set up. Without their help things would not have happened in a smooth manner, and I thank them all for their help. This event was quickly followed by the car rally. Lisa and Jo have been organising and running this event for 10 years in aid of Arohanui Hospice. Once again, these ladies volunteer their time and start planning the next event straight after completion of the current fundraiser in their own time. I would hate to add up the hours the ladies put into seeking out sponsors, planning the route for the car rally, organising food for 300 plus guests just to mention a few of the tasks associated with running this fundraiser. I would like to thank everybody who helped out to make these events so successful, we do really appreciate your efforts. Bruce McCarrison PRESIDENT 1

Good Health Dave Morris Open Cue Sports Adjunct The Labour Weekend tournament played here last month attracted a field of 75 competitors. It was won for the second time by Brent Wells who beat Ryan King in the final. Only two of our Levin club players qualified for the Cup section, with Craig Anderson losing in the last 32 and Scott Woodley dropping out in the last 16. The best local performance in the Plate section was from Phil Fisher making the final. Raewyn Jones, who lost her Plate semi-final to the eventual winner, Gary Alderson, was also named as the best female player at the tournament. 5
