Term 4, Week 6 22nd November, 2018 Principal: Deputy Principal: Coordinator Intervention: Coordinator STEM: Lissa Hutter Robyn Holla Lauren Campbell Simon Watts RESPECT & RESPONSIBILITY CARE & COMPASSION HONESTY & TRUSTWORTHINESS Hi everyone. This week, Chloe Merchant, Roisin Giorgio and Holly Fisher have welcomed over almost 60 new Receptions for their first Transition visit. They are a delightful bunch of children and we can t wait to see them again in Week 7 and 8. We will have a number of new students starting in a range of year levels next year so there will be many new faces (and names!) for us all to get to know in 2019. We are underway with class placements and thank you to those parents who have notified me that they will leaving, and also to those parents who have put any particular requests regarding placement to me in writing. While we try and accommodate most requests, please remember that we have to juggle many considerations to ensure all students have their social, academic and emotional needs met. Along with changes in students, we invariably also have changes to staffing. We are still waiting to confirm a number of classroom positions but sadly, we know that we will be saying good-bye to a very much-loved and important person - Cam Grigg. Cam has won a position at Aldgate Primary School to be closer to home and take up a new challenge in his teaching career. Cam has been here for 18 years and was a huge help to me when I arrived at Hillcrest as Counsellor back in 2006. He leaves a huge hole in everyone s heart and I can honestly say that I ve never met someone who has impacted on the lives of our students and staff so positively. Cam will be such an asset to Aldgate Primary and will no doubt, lead some exciting changes there, just as he has done here. His passion and expertise in Phys Ed, SAPSASA sport, History, Environmental and Outdoor Ed, sustainability and Aboriginal perspectives are just some of the many areas in which Cam excels but it is his absolute and resolute focus on warm, compassionate and positive relationship with our kids that has inspired us all and made coming to work/school, an absolute joy. Thank you for everything you ve done for us Cam we will miss you very much. Cheers, Lissa. PE Week was last week and it was fantastic. On Monday our reception classes had Come and Try Lacrosse. We tried our hardest to throw the ball with our Lacrosse sticks. It was easy because we threw the ball in the net - Kai Rm 5. Rooms 10, 11 and 12 had a carnival on the oval. We participated in an upper primary in-school lacrosse carnival. It was enjoyable but it was hot so we had to persist and have regular drink breaks. The winning team was team 7 who consisted of Logan, Nadia, Alyssa K, Abitha, Addison, Jackson, Yuvraj, Nataliah, Allysa V and Dakota - Abitha and Lainey, Rm 11. On Tuesday we had basketball clinics with Taylor and Ahmed from North Adelaide Rockets. They were tall! We did dribbling, shooting and a bit of one on one. I liked it! - Ethan Rm 0. Wednesday was our big celebration at Mega Courts. We had dodgeball, bomby knockers, indoor soccer and the inflatable zones. At Mega Courts I liked the jumping castles. I also liked dodgeball and all the other things - Rutu, Rm 2. On Friday we all dressed up in our sport kits. We presented the winners of the poster competitions too. I was lucky to win the competition. I chose a football as my prize. PE Week was fun! Ashni, Rm 9. Madison and Lucas from Room 7.
