Jorge slices and dices Mets in 2-1 game two victory After a sluggish 8-3 loss on Thursday night, the Miracle regained form on Friday with starter Felix Jorge leading the way on the mound. Jorge turned in seven innings of one-run baseball, scattering five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts. Jorge evened his record at 2-2 and lowered his ERA to 1.38. The Miracle scrapped a run across in the first inning of FGCU product Ricky Knapp. Sean Miller led off with a single and eventually scored on a Tanner Vavra RBI opposite field hit. The Mets answered back when a run scored after Michael Katz rolled into a 6-4-3 double play with runners on the corners, 1-1. In the seventh, Kevin Garcia started the frame by doubling off of Mets reliever Alberto Baldonado and then advancing to third on a throwing error by Wuilmer Becerra in right field. Tanner Witt drove in Garcia on a sacrifice fly to right field. Yorman Landa tossed a scoreless final two frames and struck out the side in the ninth while stranding the tying run at second base. The save was Landa s second of the season. Outfield collision lands Gordon on the disabled list On Tuesday night at Roger Dean Stadium, a seemingly harmless pop up to right center field ended with a collision of two Miracle bodies, Nick Gordon and Chad Christensen. Danny Diekroeger s shallow fly ball sent four Miracle position players sprinting to the same spot. Christensen dove and Gordon slid, the two crashing into one another. Gordon caught the ball, but he and Christensen remained on the ground for an extended period of time and both exited the game. Gordon was placed on the disabled list with a concussion. Injury bug bites the Twins system, Miracle roster shaken up From the MLB club to the lower levels of the minor leagues, the Minnesota Twins have experienced a rash of injuries a little over a month into the season. Nick Gordon joins Engelb Vielma in Chattanooga on the disabled list, so the Twins promoted Ryan Walker to Double-A. The two roster spots in Fort Myers will be occupied by Sean Miller and Tanner Witt. Miller, a shortstop, was promoted from Cedar Rapids (A) where he was hitting just.171. Witt is a minor league free agent signing and last played affiliated baseball with the Frederick Keys (A+) in 2015 with the Baltimore Orioles system. Miller and Witt each picked up their first hits on May 5 at Hammond Stadium. Miller has a hit in the last two games and Witt drove in the game-winner on Friday. Miracle homer streak ends at Roger Dean Stadium Last year, the Miracle had the least amount of home runs in the Florida State League and in team history with only 27 over the course of the season. Despite the lack of over-the-fence power, the Miracle still posted the most wins in the FSL South with 76. In 2016, the Miracle have already launched 13 home runs and are on pace for 63. The Miracle homer streak of seven in a row ended on Wednesday. Nine of the 13 homers have been solo shots. Chad Christensen, Alex Real, Trey Vavra and Edgar Corcino each have two homers a piece to lead to the club.
