(6/6/15) Once the smoke cleared of the opening night festivities, the Storm found itself trailing early but a strong performance that stemmed the second and third quarters pushed Seattle to the 86-61 win over Los Angeles on Saturday night. With Crystal Langhorne having scored the last two baskets of the first half to put Seattle up 35-32, the Storm carried that momentum into the second and hit three straight layups to go along with a pair of free throws from Jewell Loyd to take a 43-32 lead. Stemming from the second quarter and into the third, the Storm went on a 12-0 run and held Los Angeles scoreless for 2:07 during that stretch.langhorne, who had six points during the run, finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. With the Storm leading 8-6, Los Angeles answered with a run of its own and scored the next eight points with four coming from newcomer Erin Phillips to take a 14-8 lead. But Renee Montgomery brought the Storm back and played a part of the scoring in six of the team s last seven possessions of the first as she had eight points and an assist to help close the quarter on a 10-4 run, putting them up 20-18. She finished the half with eight points and ended with a game-high 19 points on 6-for-10 shooting to go along with five assists. Clark had five points and six rebounds in the first half and finished with 11 points off the bench. Seattle had a last run and got back-to-back buckets from Langhorne to give the Storm a 35-32 halftime lead. With that last basket, she reached 3,000 career points. (6/14/15) The Storm struggled offensively in the first half but it was a career performance from Abby Bishop and a strong defensive showing that brought Seattle back for the 60-54 win over Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. The win snapped a two-game skid for the Storm (2-2) and marked the second straight victory over the Sparks. After a cold shooting first half, the Storm made a push in the middle of the third. With Seattle trailing by 11 with 7:34 in the quarter, Jenna O Hea found Alysha Clark in the right corner for the three to cut the Los Angeles lead to single digits. The Sparks answered with a three of their own but then Seattle got four straight buckets with two from Abby Bishop to make it a 41-38 game. Bishop, who scored eight points in the third, finished with a career-high 18 points on 7-for-12 from the field. Later in the quarter, Renee Montgomery took an inbound pass at the basket and missed the layup but Quanitra Hollingsworth was there to clean it up and got the basket and the foul to pull the score to 41-40. It capped off a 10-0 run for Seattle. The Storm continued to hang around in the fourth and that is when Bishop took over again. Trailing 50-48, Sue Bird found a cutting Bishop in the lane and she hit the floater and drew the foul to tie it game at 50. On the next possession, Bishop received the ball on the left wing, gave it up to Jewell Loyd, and got an immediate pass back to give her space to drill a wide open three and gave Seattle a 53-50 lead. It was the Storm s first lead since 8:17 in the first quarter. Bishop sparked an 8-0 run to put Seattle up 56-50. Seattle s stifling defense took care of the rest as it held Los Angeles to 25.9 percent in the second half. After a layup from Langhorne cut the early Los Angeles lead to one, the Sparks went on a 9-2 run and had four different players score during the streak to take a 17-9 lead. The bench unit, who was averaging 34 points per game going into Sunday s game, brought the Storm back again and they got back-to-back buckets from Jewell Loyd and Ramu Tokashiki to cut the deficit to four. Four players off the bench scored for the Storm during an 11-4 run between the first and second quarters but it was a three from starter Bishop that cut the Sparks lead back to one at 21-20. Los Angeles then clamped down on Seattle and that defense turned into offense as the Sparks responded with an 11-0 run, capped by a three from Farhiya Abdi, to give them a 32-20 advantage. LAST GAME Seattle 60, Phoenix 70 - US Airways Center, Phoenix AZ. (7/12/15) With the Storm trailing by 14 at the half, Seattle quickly cut the lead to single digits on a deep three from Renee Montgomery and a bucket from Ramu Tokashiki to cut the Phoenix advantage to nine. Two straight baskets from Phoenix pushed it back to 13 but then Jewell Loyd pulled up for three and hit to bring it back to 10. Later in the quarter, Phoenix extended the lead back to 13 and Loyd drilled another three. She scored 10 of her team-high 16 points in the third. Despite the efforts of Loyd, the Mercury extended the lead and it was in large part due to Brittney Griner. She scored 15 points and hit all but one of her seven shots in the period as Phoenix took a 17-point lead into the fourth. Griner finished with 26 on the afternoon. But Seattle did not go away and it was led by the group of Loyd, Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, Angel Goodrich, Markeisha Gatling, and Tokashiki, none of whom have more than three years of WNBA experience. With Phoenix up 68-53, Gatling showed some range and hit a jumper from 18-feet out to cut it to 13. On the following possession, Mosqueda-Lewis came off a screen and caught the pass from Tokashiki to hit her third three of the quarter. After a timeout, Goodrich found Tokashiki for the jumper and brought it to a 68-60 game with 1:18 to go. Goodrich had a game-high eight assists. Seattle would get no closer but the youthful unit forced eight Phoenix turnovers in the quarter and scored nine points off the miscues. With the game tied at eight, the Storm swung the ball around and Crystal Langhorne drive to basket and kicked to Renee Montgomery for the three to take an 11-8 lead with 5:19 in the period. Much like it did on Friday, Phoenix answered the Seattle push with one of its own and went on a 7-0 run, capped by a Leilani Mitchell three, to go ahead 15-11. In the second quarter with Phoenix up 26-17, Goodrich ran the pick and roll with Quanitra Hollingsworth and found her for the layup. On the next possession, Goodrich took it herself to the basket and hit the layup to cut the Phoenix lead to seven. The Mercury pushed back with an 8-2 run to go up 36-23 and Loyd provided a spark to keep Seattle close. On consecutive possessions, she hit a jumper, found Gatling for the layup, and hit a step back jumper to pull the Storm within nine. (7/10/15) After making it a two possession game in the third quarter, the Storm struggled to take care of the ball and Phoenix took advantage with a big run to end the period as Seattle dropped the contest 94-79 on Friday night. After battling in the first half to remain in striking distance, the Storm entered the second half trailing by 12 and got a shot in the arm from Alysha Clark. With the shot clock winding down on the opening possession of the quarter, Abby Bishop drove and found an open Clark on the wing for the three. On the next time down the floor, the Storm found Clark again for another three and it cut the Phoenix lead to 46-40. Phoenix s Leilani Mitchell hit a three to increase the Mercury lead to nine but the Storm answered and got a basket from Bishop to make it a seven-point game. But every time the Storm made a push, Phoenix pushed right back. They forced six Seattle turnovers and scored 11 points off those miscues to end the quarter on an 18-3 run. Eight of the 18 came from Leilani Mitchell, who scored 12. The Storm will see Phoenix again on Sunday at 3 p.m. when it travels to the desert for the second straight matchup with the Mercury. Bishop and Sue Bird connected on consecutive jumpers and it cut the early Phoenix lead 10-8. The Phoenix offense, which had been clicking early, found basket after basket and went on a 13-0 run to take a 23-10 advantage. The Mercury shot 55 percent from the field in the quarter and got eight points from DeWanna Bonner. The Storm chipped away at the beginning of the second and had consecutive threes from Jenna O Hea and Sue Bird to cut the Phoenix lead to eight. Still trailing by eight, Seattle watched Phoenix attack the paint and go on a 7-0 run to go up 44-29. The Mercury had 22 points in the paint in the half. TEAM NOTES JEWELL BACK IN LINEUP Rookie Jewell Loyd has also become more comfortable in the WNBA and it is showing. She returned to the starting lineup on July 10 against Phoenix and, over her last seven games, she is averaging 13.3 points per game and dropped a career-high 21 against Tulsa on June 28. She is shooting 45 percent from the field and is 25-for-27 from the stripe during this stretch. HOME, SWEET HOME After playing six of the last eight games away from KeyArena, the friendly confines will be a welcomed sight as the Storm begin a threegame homestand on Wednesday. It is the first time since a three-game stretch in mid-june that Seattle will play consecutive games at home. NO REST FOR THE WEARY Coming off six of eight games on the road in 19 days, the Storm has had very little time to rest as it has averaged 1.5 days in between game days this season, whereas the Storm s opponents have averaged 3.2 days of rest. The same held on Wednesday as Seattle had two days in between games and Los Angeles comes in with three days of rest. STORMING THE CHARTS Several Storm players find themselves in the upper tier of the WNBA in some key categories. Crystal Langhorne continues to be efficient and is shooting 56 percent from the field, which is fourth best in the league. Sue Bird ranks fourth in assists with 4.9 per game. Ramu Tokashiki and Abby Bishop have combined for 2.2 blocks from the power forward position with Tokashiki ranked 13th (1.07) and Bishop at 11th (1.13). Veteran guard Renee Montgomery has been dangerous from three and has hit 40 percent of her shots, 10th best in the league. THE BENCH MOB The Storm wrapped up one of its toughest stretches of the season with six of eight games on the road, which included seven cities in 19 days. As it has done all season, the bench played a major role in that stretch. Over the last five games, the second unit has averaged 29 points and for the season is averaging 28.9 points per contest (second in the league). The Seattle bench is also accounting for 42.3 percent of the team s total points, which is tops in the WNBA. On June 28, it poured out a league-high 54 points, which included a career-high 21 points from both Ramu Tokashiki and Jewell Loyd. TEAM BENCH POINTS INDIANA 29.0 SEATTLE 28.9 NEW YORK 26.5 TULSA 24.6 WASHINGTON 18.7 CONNECTICUT 18.5 SAN ANTONIO 18.0 PHOENIX 16.2 MINNESOTA 15.3 ATLANTA 14.4 CHICAGO 15.2 LOS ANGELES 12.0 ROAD WARRIORS One year removed from a 2014 schedule that sent the Storm on the road for 10 of the team s first 13 games, Seattle is back at it, in the midst of a span that will see six of eight games in enemy territory, equating to seven cities (including Seattle) in 19 days. The team has also had very little time to rest as it has averaged 1.5 days in between game days this season, whereas the Storm s opponents have averaged 3.2 days of rest. The same held on Friday as Seattle had one day in between games and Phoenix came in with four days of rest. SUE APPROACHING 5K With her three pointer late in the fourth quarter on June 25, Sue Bird eclipsed Sheryl Swoopes for 13th on the WNBA s all-time scoring list. She has averaged 12.6 points in her last six games and now sits at 4,942. The next two on the list are Taj McWilliams-Franklin, who finished with 5,013 points, and Tangela Smith with 5,048. AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE! Jenna O Hea and Abby Bishop came up big in several moments in the team s last meeting with Minnesota and were incredibly effective from three. The pair combined to score 28 points, including a career-high 17 from O Hea, and went 6-for-13 (46.1 percent) from distance. O Hea went 5-for-10 from the field and 4-for-4 from the line. Bishop recorded a near triple double with 12 points and a career-best nine rebounds.

TEAM NOTES BISHOP S HOLLYWOOD PERFORMANCE Abby Bishop scored a career-high 18 points on 7-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-9 from three, to lift the Storm to the 60-54 win over the Sparks and spoil LA s home opener. She scored eight of her game-high total in the third quarter. LANGHORNE REACHES 3K Crystal Langhorne entered Saturday s game only nine points shy of reaching 3,000 points for her career and made quick work of the milestone as she hit a layup with two seconds left in the first half to give her 10 points, eclipsing the mark. SNAGGED A GEM JEWELL Jewell Loyd declared her intention to enter the WNBA draft following her junior season the University of Notre Dame. Loyd had an impressive three years as a guard for Notre Dame, earning First Team All-American and ACC Player of the Year honors for her performance in the 2014-2015 season. In her junior season, Loyd averaged 19.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and shot 44.3% from the field. In addition, she tied the school record for scoring 20+ points in a single season (20 times), and set the record for most combined points by a player in their first two seasons (1,137). She was named the ACC tournament MVP and Second-Team All-American by the Associated Press following her sophomore season. UCONNections The University of Connecticut Women s Basketball Program is no stranger to winning championships. Sue Bird, Renee Montgomery and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis put together a hefty history of winning at UConn. While none of the three played together under coach Geno Auriemma, they find themselves on the same roster in Seattle. Combined, the trio has accumulated six national championships, nine trips to the Final Four, eight Big East regular season titles, and 10 Big East tournament titles. Each of them have made huge marks as individuals as well. Sue Bird was the school s first ever #1 draft pick in the WNBA, Renee Montgomery was the first ever active player, and 11th overall, to be inducted into the Huskies of Honor and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis owns the NCAA D1 record for three-pointers made (395). BISHOP TO E5.. CHECK MATE Five years ago, Abby Bishop held a spot on the Seattle Storm roster. In 2010, at just 21 years old, she averaged 6.8 minutes per game and 2.8 points per game. Bishop moved home to Australia after just one season and has since taken over the WNBL. Leading the league in scoring and rebounding, at 23 points per game, and 10.6 rebounds per game she was named the WNBL s Most Valuable Player in 2014. Abby is back for round two in the Emerald City. ROOKIES RUN SEATTLE (PART 2) Seattle has taken a new approach to the season this year. Enlisting three rookies on the roster for 2015, the Storm enters the year with the organization s youngest team in history looking to make a splash in Emerald City. In 2001, the Storm relied heavily on two rookies, number one draft pick Lauren Jackson, and guard, Semeka Randall, the first season that Seattle had a winning percentage above.500. The 2015 season looks to number one draft pick Jewell Loyd and number 3 draft pick Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis to help lead the organization into a new era. FROM JAPAN WITH LOVE Ramu Tokashiki spent the 2014-2015 season dominating the Women s Japan Basketball League. Tokashiki led the league in a majority of categories, including scoring (18 points per game), rebounding (11.5 per game), blocked shots (2.13 per game) and field goal percentage (59.8%). The 23 year old Japan native was the 2014-2015 postseason MVP and was also named MVP of the WJBL in her rookie season. Tokashiki makes the move from Japan to Seattle in hopes of joining the Storm as a rookie in the WNBA. Tokashiki is the third Japanese player ever to join the WNBA. BIGS ARE BACK In 2014, the Storm had just two players over 6-2. Through a revamped roster, Seattle has added height to the roster. Four players have been brought in to add more height to the team. Abby Bishop is a 6-3 forward who spent 2014 leading Australia s WNLB in scoring (23), and rebounding (10.6). Ramu Tokashiki, Bishop s 6-3 counterpart, led the Japan s WJBL in four categories, points (18), rebounds (11.5), blocks (2.13), and field goal percentage (59.8). Quanitra Hollingsworth (6-5) will add an inside presence. REFRESHED, RENEWED AND REMODELED The Storm start off the 2015 season under new, yet familiar, leadership. Jenny Boucek, former assistant coach under Brian Agler, takes the reigns in 2015. Boucek has had over 15 years of experience in both the WNBA and the NBA as a player, coach, scout and color commentator. In 2014, she was named the Associate Head Coach of the organization, which makes her new role a fitting one for the Storm. She is joined by new President & GM Alisha Valavanis, and together, the duo has revamped the new-look Storm roster for 2015. THEY GOT BOUCEK S BACK Rob Fodor and Ryan Webb have been named Jenny Boucek s assistants for the 2015 season. Fodor has over 25 years of experience in player development at the professional and the college level. He played college basketball at Hillsdale College in Michigan, where he was a four year starter. After college he played in France, Germany, and South America. Ryan Webb has moved his way up the from being a Storm practice player, to coaching intern (2012), now to having an assistant position on the staff. He focuses on one-on-one player workouts, employing new drills, and assisting with scouting reports. Webb played for Seattle University from 2002-2007. Additionally, Julie Rousseau and Emre Vatansever join the staff as volunteer assistant coaches.

JENNY BOUCEK JENNY BOUCEK BIOGRAPHY WNBA Head Coaching Record: 43-53 Seattle Storm Head Coaching Record: 3-12 Seasons in the WNBA: 16th Season Seasons with the Storm: 9th Season (1st as Head Coach) On January 20, 2015, Jenny Boucek was announced as the head coach of the Seattle Storm, the fourth head coach in the history of the franchise. Boucek spent four seasons with the Storm under the leadership of Agler, rejoining the defending WNBA champions in 2010 as the Director of Player Development and Scouting. She was promoted to associate head coach prior to the start of the 2014 season. Boucek has been involved in the WNBA since it s inaugural season, suiting up for the Cleveland Rockers in 1997. Following a career-ending injury in 1998, she began her WNBA coaching career as an assistant with the Washington Mystics in 1999. She then spent three seasons, 2000-02, in the same capacity with the Miami Sol. Boucek enjoyed her first stint in Seattle on Anne Donovan s staff from 2003-05, a span which included the franchise s first WNBA Championship in 2004. Her first stop as a WNBA head coach came in Sacramento, leading the now-defunct Sacramento Monarchs to a 40-41 clip over two-plus seasons, spanning 2007-09. Notably respected as one of the top coaches in the league, Boucek has spent much of her career as a student of the game. She served as an advanced scout with the Seattle SuperSonics, and more recently, had full access to Dallas Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle s training camp in September and October of 2014. She was involved in all coaches meetings, film and practice sessions and player meetings. Boucek also played in Iceland in 1998 and was voted the country s best player after averaging 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists. She returned to Cleveland for the 1998 season but was forced to retire due to a career-ending back injury. A four-year starter at the University of Virginia (1992-96), Boucek helped lead the Cavaliers to four regular-season ACC Championships and three NCAA Elite Eight appearances. She was a two-time GTE Academic All-America team member and two-time ACC selection. Boucek twice earned team Defensive Player of the Year honors and finished her career at Virginia as a member of the 1,000-point club. She also competed in the U.S. Olympic Festival in 1993.
