The two certainly aren t strangers, with the midweek meeting being the 58th all-time. It is the most played series in the history of the two programs and dates back to 1959 -- the first year of intercollegiate lacrosse at Towson. Loyola Maryland is on an eight-game win streak over the Tigers, winning last year s matchup 15-11. Wednesday s contest can be watched on the Patriot League Network and begins at 4 p.m. Colgate Takes Out Bucknell in Overtime to Open Patriot League Play The Raiders captured an exciting win over the Bison on Saturday, opening the Patriot League season with a 11-10 overtime victory. Playing in Hamilton, Colgate s Chase Wittich scored the Raiders lone goal in the fourth quarter to give his team a 10-8 advantage. Bucknell responded, however, netting two to force overtime. The Bison won the faceoff in the extra frame but Colgate goalie Brandon Burke caused a Bison turnover, which resulted in teammate Eric Foote s game-winner with 2:14 on the clock. Boston U. Adds Second Overtime Victory on Patriot League Season Opening Day The Terriers captured the second overtime win on Patriot League season opening day, defeating the then-no. 16 Midshipmen 10-9 in double overtime. Boston University hosted Navy and grabbed the thrilling victory when freshman James Burr notched his third hat trick of the season on the game-winner -- tallied with 1:14 left in the second overtime frame. Junior goalkeeper Christian Carson-Banister also made five saves in the bonus lacrosse periods to help secure the win. Toomey Earns 100th Career Win at Helm of Greyhounds Program With the 12-8 win over Lafayette on Saturday to open the Patriot League slate, Loyola Maryland head coach Charley Toomey tallied the 100th victory of his head coaching career and is just the second coach in Loyola men s lacrosse history to do so. His collegiate coach, and current Loyola/Patriot League Network color commentator Dave Cottle, is the only other coach to win 100 or more at Loyola. Cottle was 181-70 from 1983-2001. Toomey is currently in his 11th year at the helm of the Greyhounds program and holds a 100-50 record since taking over in 2006. Among action Division I coaches, he boasts the ninth best winning percentage of.667. League Action Continues this Weekend Army West Point is the lone team that did not compete against a Patriot League opponent last week, but that will change this weekend when the Black Knights pay the Leopards a visit in Easton on Saturday at 12 p.m. Across town in Bethlehem, Colgate and Lehigh will also get underway at noon. Loyola Maryland will head north to play Holy Cross at 1 p.m., while Navy will also travel north to play Bucknell at the same hour. Boston University will take a break from League action but will play at Canisius with a start time of 1 p.m. All four Patriot League contests will broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
