All items of furniture are genuine period pieces, purchased at antique auctions. Some of the rooms have baldachin beds and all of them are luxuriously equipped with attention to details. They feature free Wi-Fi. There is a non-smoking restaurant and a wine cellar. Guests can sample traditional recipes prepared in the modern kitchen or over the open hearth in the centre of the restaurant itself. Home-grown ingredients, fresh herbs and organic products are used. An experienced sommelier will assist in choosing among fine Moravian and international wines from the original wine cellar with a vaulted ceiling.

THE SHOOTING AREAS FOR PHEASANTS ORGANIZATION OF DRIVEN SHOOTING The Czech Republic boasts high standard driven pheasant shootings in line with local tradition that go back to glorious past of the country. St. Hubertus Hunting Tours staff take proud in proposing high quality pheasant driven shooting in Southern Moravia, around 140 km from Vienna Airport, 200 km from Prague Airport. We are talking about 9 grounds that cover a total area sizing 9000 ha. Some areas feature flat terrain and are situated in river floodplains, while other ones are characterized by steep terrain. 7 Hilly shooting area with steep grounds Hunters can choose area they prefer based on their shooting skills. Location of pheasant shooting is the wonderful countryside of Southern Moravia. All areas are mainly covered by hardwood floodplain forests (oak, ash, elm, walnut) and softwood floodplain forests (poplar, linden, willow). Coniferous trees, such as spruce or pine, can be found mainly in front parts of individual drives. The combination of various tree species together with a perfect partition of individual forest stands and quality of birds assure the most favourable conditions for driven shootings (in all above-mentioned grounds regardless of lay of land). Front part of an individual drive Pheasants are mainly bred in breeding stations insides shooting areas and great emphasis is placed on health, general maturity and adaptability of maturing chicks to the harsh conditions of life in the wild. Pheasants are released at the age of 10 weeks and they must adapt to life in open forest. Around 50 per cent of released birds are lost. The high number of lost pheasants is strictly linked with high quality of pheasants that you find during driven shooting. Hunting guests usually very appreciated mature pheasants with very good plumage and long tail feathers that allow birds to fly very well and high.
8 Plumage of pheasant shot during a driven shooting Average daily game-bags are between 1,000 and 1,500 birds. Minimum daily game-bag is 500 birds. Driven pheasant shootings are arranged for group from 8 to 12 shooters. Each shooter takes different stands in each drive to assure similar shooting chances to all shooters during the whole drives. Usually six or seven drives are arranged each day. Each shooter can count on a loader (who loads the guest s gun and keeps record of successfully shot birds in individual drives) and a helper to carry shells. The main aim of entire organization is to guarantee each guest the best possible comfort during shooting day. The chateau s origins date back to the 14 th century when records mentioned a water stronghold built along so-called amber trade path that connected Mediterranean and Baltic coasts. During following centuries the stronghold gained gradually more splendour under the possession of the local noble families. A radical transformation was carried out during XVIII century. Current classicist style of Chateau was influenced by the Archduke Friedrich, owner of the chateau at the beginning of XX century. At that time the Chateau and surrounding estates hosted hunting guest from all over the world. Rooms of the Chateau were adorned with trophies of games hunted all over the Austro- Hungarian Empire. Since 1918 the Chateau and the adjoining park have been in possession of the Czech Republic. During the 1920s and 1930s T.G. Masaryk, President of the Czechoslovakian Republic, paid several visits to the Chateau.
