GKA KITE-SURF WORLD TOUR 2018 FUERTEVENTURA It is a pleasure to announce the fifth event of the GKA KITE-SURF WORLD TOUR 2018 will be held on in Sotavento, Fuerteventura Sotavento is one of the most world renown contests in our industry and it is a pleasure to be returning for 2018. The dates will be from 20th of July to the 25th of July 2018. This competition is sanctioned and governed by the 2018 KSWT Rulebook 2018 Registration Entry procedure and Registration All competitors planning to enter a KSWT event shall pre-register via this link attached https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1faipqlsfcgr59nypudh2hcjs4syeeiw0ix3tvq6txu4qusr6syqqiq/viewform?usp=sf_link or by other means to be specified by the KSWT Sports Commission, no later than the published closing date for entries for that specific event. Ultimately it is the competitors responsibility to pre-register or to apply for an entry for an event and to ensure that the application has been received timely and correctly. According to rule 10.2, fines and/or having their next events applications cancelled may be handed out to a pre-registered and / or qualified competitor who, without advanced notice fails to show up at an event. Complete and signed entry forms for event registration must be signed and complete by the time stated in the Race Notice. Exceptions can only be granted by the KSWT Representative. If a competitor is unable to complete registration at the published time and place in the Race Notice for reasons beyond their control, then the competitor should contact the KSWT Representative with details of their delay, and must gain consent for their registration period to be extended. Evidence must be supplied to support reasons showing that the circumstances we/are out of the competitor s control. Entry restrictions Registration - fee payments must be made no later than the end of the inscription-time at the respective event. In the case that the full amount of the inscription fee is not paid by the end of the announced inscription-time, the rider will not be allowed to compete. Payments can be made in cash at the inscription at the respective event. Cash-payments will only be accepted in Euros or US$ currency. Inscription fee payments can also be made by bank-transaction. Inscription fee payments via bank-transaction have to be credited to the GKA bank-account 7 days prior to the first day of the event. The maximum number of 64 competitors registered for a KSWT event, including the wildcards. Disciplines There will be just one Official Discipline (Wave & Strapless Freestyle Kitesurfing) in a KSWT event, with the following categories: Wave. Strapless Freestyle. Both categories can be used in any event, even in the same eliminatory depending on the conditions.
There shall be no more than 1 single / dingle / double eliminations per at each KSWT event. IMPORTANT INFO Competitors are asked to wear the official lycra at all times when proceeding to the water also during training for optimal recognition. All event dinners and meetings in the schedule are mandatory to all riders. Please be on time and ready. Riders are not permitted to publicly associate their names in non-authorized parties/autograph sessions. There will be a social event-calendar for each event that all riders have to join via social media and share. Prize money 25000 prize money for this event. The prize money distribution for a valid and completed KSWT event will be done according to the following table: Women s prize division will be a minimum of 20% with 6 participants and will increase depending on the final number of women in proportion to the number of men competing. Woman 16 30% Total 48 If the women s division doesn t take place, the full amount allocated as prize money will be added to the men s division Eligibility A competitor is eligible for any KSWT event if he meets the following conditions: (i). He is a member of his Official National Kiteboarding Federation or Association. A valid membership card or certificate, or other satisfactory evidence of identity and membership may be requested. (ii). He has a personal medical insurance with worldwide coverage. A valid membership card or certificate, or other satisfactory evidence of worldwide medical coverage may be requested. (iii) The competitor cannot hold the KSWT, the GKA or the event-organizer responsible for any claims for damages as a consequence of the competitor not having sufficient personal medical insurance. (iv) The competitor cannot hold the KSWT, the GKA or the event-organizer responsible for any legal liabilities and/or any claims for damages by third parties caused by the competitor. (v). One week before the event, Local Organizer Wildcards shall be approved by the KSWT Sports Commission. If any ranked competitor cannot compete in one KSWT event due to an injury or other reasons, the empty spot will be given to the next highest ranked competitor. If there isn t a national qualifier nor a wildcard ranking, competitors will be distributed in the KSWT ladder according to the name drawing that shall be done by the Contest Director at the first day mandatory meeting for all competitors before the competition starts.
Seeding and Elimination Procedure The Previous years KSWT Ranking Seeding List for an event shall be calculated as follows: (i)the competitor s final position on the KSWT Ranking list from the previous year, which shall be regarded as one result; the two best results over the past 12 months; and the previous year s result at that specific event, which may count twice if it is one of the two best results (if this does not exist, the next best result from the previous 12 months). This will give four results, the highest of which is discarded. In all the above instances, the positions scored by the competitor shall be added together and the competitor with the lowest score shall be seeded first and so on. In the event of a tie, the KSWT tie-break rules shall apply. (ii) if a top 40 ranked sailor is unable to compete at an event or events due to injury, the seeding of that sailor will be protected for a period of four months, after which time seedings will be allocated as described above. THE SEEDING ALLOCATION FOR THIS EVENT WILL BE: Elimination shall be single, dingle or double eliminations. The Elimination procedure shall be: (i) competitors names shall be entered on the appropriate elimination ladder for the first elimination series according to the event Seeding List and the seeding distribution table below. (ii) If there isn t a previous year nor a current ranking, competitors will be distributed in the KSWT ladder according to the name drawing that shall be done by the Contest Director at the first day mandatory meeting for all competitors before the competition starts. (iii) Byes, if any, shall be positioned so that they are allocated to the most highly ranked competitors. (iv) competitors shall sail one against one in pairs, or in groups of up to 8 determined by the elimination ladder. The declared winner of each pair or the top half of the large groups shall advance on the elimination ladder. Once a round is started, the format shall stay the same until that round is completed.
