S a r g o t s a v - 2 0 1 7 (MACEAA KEF Inter Alumni Children s Arts Fest) Date : 26 th January 2017 Thursday 6:00 pm 27 th January 2017 Friday 8:30 am A. Eligibility Venue : Carmel School, Khaitan Children of all registered KEF members can participate in the competitions and shall be grouped in the following categories based on the age as given below. Category Date of Birth Kindergarten : Born on or after 26 th January 2011 Sub Juniors : Born on or between 26 th January 2007 & 25 th January 2011 Juniors : Born on or between 26 th January 2003 & 25 th January 2007 Seniors : Born on or between 26 th January 1999 & 25 th January 2003 B. Registration For single events, each child has to register through Sargotsav 2017 Online Registration section on the KEF Website http://www.kefkuwait.org after login with parent s login information & by following the registration instructions posted in the Sargotsav 2017 Event Page on KEF Website. In case of any difficulty, members may contact the respective Alumni Representative or mail to sargotsav.register@gmail.com or contact Registration Committee Convener, Mr. Jyothish Natarajan (Mob: 9997 9739). On line Registration can be done until 25 th December 2016. C. General Rules 1. Judges decision shall be final and binding to all parties. 2. Restricted Photography/Video shall be allowed. Photography and Video shall not disturb Participants, Judges and Audience. 3. Timing shall be strictly controlled. Participants are required to report to the respective venue at least 10 minutes before the announced starting time of each event. 4. Grouping shall be done based on age. Participants are allowed to compete in the respective categories only for the single events. In Group Events, children from any category can participate. 5. Event duration specified shall be strictly followed. Action Song, Elocution, Extempore, & Light Music will have a Grace time of 10 seconds over the stipulated event duration time. There shall be a short warning bell at the end of the allotted time & a long bell after the grace period. Negative mark (5% deduction from total Marks obtained) shall be applicable to participants exceeding the specified time duration ( Allotted Time / Allotted + Grace Time whichever is applicable for the event). Participant/ Team shall not be disqualified on exceeding event duration. 6. Organisers reserve the right to cancel any event in case of any unforeseen circumstances. Events having less than three (3) participants at the time of Registration shall be cancelled. 7. Civil ID / Passport shall be considered as proof of Date of birth. 8. Any violation of Rules & Regulations, if proven, shall lead to the disqualification of participant / Team. 9. If parents are from two different Alumni, a child should register & participate for all events including Group events through one Alumni only. It is allowed for one child to register/participate all events through one Alumni & other child to participate all events through another Alumni. Event Winner Trophy & Certificate shall be awarded to First, Second & Third position winner in each category of events. Appreciation Certificates shall be awarded to participants obtaining A Grade (Scores which are 75 % and above in relation to the score of the 1 st Prizewinner). E. Detailed Rules & Regulations SOLO EVENTS 1. Colouring the Sketch Category : Kindergarten Duration (max.) : 45 Minutes Only Crayons / Colour Pencils can be used Sketch (A4 size) shall be given at the venue. Participants should bring all other materials required for Colouring including A4 size writing pad. Colour selection & composition 40% Colour usage & style 40% Completeness 20% 2. Action Song Category:Kindergarten Duration (max.) : 3 Minutes (10 Sec Grace period) Malayalam, Hindi or English Songs are allowed. Songs should be sung & presented with actions narrating the contents. Recorded music or song shall not be permitted. Clarity in Singing & Acting 60% Presentation 40% 3.Painting Category: Sub Juniors,Juniors & Seniors Duration (max.) : 60 Minutes Sub Juniors : Only Crayons / colour pencils Juniors & Seniors : Only Water colour(using of Water colour pencil is not allowed) Theme shall be given at the venue. Paper [SJR (A4 size) & JR / SR (B4 size)] supplied at the venue by the Event Convener only shall be permitted and participants are to bring all other materials required for painting. 4.Essay Writing (English) Category :Juniors & Seniors Duration (max.) : 30 Minutes Language : English Subject shall be given at the Venue Time is limited but, no limit on words Paper supplied at the venue by the Event Convener only shall be permitted & Participants should bring all other materials required. Seniors shall be allowed to participate either in Essay or in Short Story writing only Structure of the essay 20% Content 30% Clarity & brevity of points 15% Language skills and proficiency 15% Overall presentation, neatness & conclusion 20% 5. Short Story Writing (English) Category: Seniors Duration (max) : 30 Minutes Language : English Subject shall be given at the venue Time is limited & No word limit Paper supplied at the venue by the Event Convener only shall be permitted & Participants should bring all other materials required Seniors shall be allowed to participate either in Essay or in Short Story writing only Language 25% Creativity 25% Style of expression/narration 25% Aesthetics 25% Sargotsav 2017 Rules & Regulations Page 4 of 9 MACEAA Kuwait Chapter

Elocution (English) Category: Juniors (Boys & Girls) Duration (max.) : 3 Minutes (10 Sec Grace period) Subject shall be announced on or before 5 th January 2017 Reading & Reference notes are not permitted and shall lead to disqualification Microphone with long cord (with or without stand) shall be provided. Introduction (Opening impact) 15% Value of Content (Relevance to subject & originality) 30% Use of language (Appropriate use of language& fluency) 20% Delivery (body language, voice modulation& eye contact) 20% Conclusion (Effective closing summary) 15% 8. Extempore (English) Category: Seniors Duration (max.) : 3 Minutes (10 Sec Grace period) Subject shall be given to the participant 10 minutes before the participant s performance. All participants of the event should report 15 minutes prior to the start of the event to the location specified to them by the Event Convenor. Participants reporting after this cut off time shall not be permitted for the event. Plain paper shall be provided to take down notes for preparation; however, notes or any reference materials are not permitted in the competition area. Participants are not allowed to refer to any books/materials after receiving the topic. Mobile phones and / or similar electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited in the preparation & competition areas and if found shall automatically lead to disqualification of the participant. Reading & Reference notes are not permitted. Microphone with long cord (with or without stand) shall be provided. Light Music (Malayalam) Category: Sub Juniors, Juniors & Seniors Duration (max.) : 3 Minutes Sub Juniors & Juniors (10 Sec Grace period) & 4 Minutes for Seniors (10 Sec Grace period) Classical Songs are not allowed Light music that has come as Film songs are also permitted. Seniors shall be allowed to participate either in Light Music or in Poetry Recitation only Sruthilayam & Rhythm 40% Bhavam 30% Language & Literary Clarity 30% 10. Poetry Recitation (Malayalam) Category: Seniors Duration including the introduction/narration : 4 Minutes (10 Sec Grace period) Published Malayalam poems only. Participants must give a brief description about the poem and the poet. There is no advantage for excessive musical tone Seniors shall be allowed to participate either in Light Music or in Poetry Recitation only Rendering by heart (without breaking in between) 20% Legibility and Clarity of voice and language 25% Modulation of sound 25% Expression of meaning and idea 30% 11. Fancy Dress Category: Sub Juniors, Juniors & Seniors Duration (max.) : 1 Minute Speaking not permitted Recorded Voice or Music is not allowed Properties that can be handled by the participant are only allowed. Curtains not allowed. Throughout the fancy dress competition, stage curtains shall remain open. 12. Folk Dance (Girls) Category: Sub Juniors & Juniors Duration (max.) : 5 Minutes Dance shall be Folk in nature Dances that are Folk in nature from any Indian Language movie, are also permitted Participant shall hand over the song for the dance in a USB flash drive (acceptable format: MP3 ONLY) duly marked with chest number to the Event Convener. No other song or file should be present on the flash drive. Audio clarity of the song shall be the responsibility of the participant. Single participant only. Stage settings (backdrops, curtains, cut outs etc.) not permitted. Properties that can be handled by the participant are only allowed. Sub Junior & Junior (Girls) are allowed to participate either in Folk Dance or Solo Dance only Body Movements & Steps 30% Expressions 25% Rhythm 25% Costume & Make up 20% 13&14. Solo Dance (Girls & Boys) Category: Sub Juniors,Juniors & Seniors Duration (max.) : 4 Minutes for Sub juniors, Juniors (Girls & Boys) 5 Minutes for Seniors (Girls & Boys) Pure break, pure classical & pure folk dances are not allowed. Participant shall hand over the song for the dance in a USB flash drive (acceptable format MP3 only) duly marked with chest number to the Event Convener. No other song or file should be present on the flash drive. Audio clarity of the song shall be the responsibility of the participant. Single participant only Stage settings (backdrops, curtains, cut outs etc.) not permitted. Properties that can be handled by the participant are only allowed. GROUP EVENTS 15. Group Song (Malayalam) Category: One group from Each Alumni Duration (max.) : 8 Minutes including setup time. Minimum 5 and Maximum 9 children including instrument players for background music. Only Malayalam song shall be permitted. Those who born on or after 26 th Jan 1999 are eligible to participate. 4 numbers of microphones, 3 numbers of instrument connection and power supply shall be provided (Please contact the concerned event convener if you have questions at least 3 days before the event) Memory play (metronome, rhythm, bass, etc.), Programmed Keyboards and recorded songs shall not be permitted. Group songs presented in Sargotsav 2016 shall not be permitted. Coherence & Singer s uniformity 30% Sruthi 25% Rhythm 25% Song & it s literary value 20% 16. Group Dance (Cinematic) Category: One group from Each Alumni Duration (max.) : 6 Minutes Participants should dance (Cinematic in nature) to any Indian language song or combination of Indian language songs. Group of min. 5 and max. 7 children Those who born on or after 26 th Jan 1999 are eligible to participate. Music without vocal is not allowed. Pure break dance or pure classical dance is not allowed. Standard stage lighting and curtain provided should only be used. External light source and light modulation are not permitted. Properties & Stage settings are not permitted. (Any item held by participants hand, shall be considered as property, except if any which are part of costume.) Group Dances presented in Sargotsav 2016 shall not be permitted. Alumni Show Category: One group from Each Alumni Alumni show is a Skit presented in a way to manifest a particular Theme chosen by the participating Alumni. There shall be no common Theme for Alumni Show in Sargotsav 2017. Duration (max.) : 15 Minutes including stage preparation. Recorded music & sound can be used but character dialogue and introduction voice limited to the children of the respective Alumni. Alumni show shall be presented in Malayalam. Group of minimum 5 children and maximum of 12 can participate. Those born on or after 26 th Jan. 1999 are eligible to participate. Sargotsav Organisers shall provide one no. each of black (non movable) & white/black (movable) curtains at the back of the stage. Additional curtains shall not be permitted. Maximum 3 hanging microphones shall be provided if required & requested to the Event Convener before 15 th January 2017. Control of Lighting, Audio & Curtain shall be the responsibility of respective Alumni. Standard stage lighting provided shall be used and adults can help to set up the off stage and on stage arrangements. The Alumni shows presented in Sargotsav 2016 shall not be permitted.
