CLUB RENOVATIONS MAKING GREAT PROGRESS! A year ago, we were approached by Paul Brauner asking how we could raise the greens out of the flood zone. We had the USGA come in and give an analysis of our greens and golf course. This turned out to be very positive and helpful. Based on this analysis the grounds committee, George, Doug, myself, Steve the architect and Paul met for over six months to come up with what the course priorities were and where to begin. A Master Plan was developed to guide us with no cost to the club or members. The board remained steadfast on the fact that the priority was to get the greens out of the brook flood zone. As you know, we were very fortunate to have Paul donate the monies for Phase 1 of the renovations. This renovation has proven to be very successful. After three inches of rain fell a month ago, it became evident that we were no longer going to have our 10th and 16th greens flood. (See pictures of this success under renovation news.) With 112 surveys returned out of the 220 sent out to members, it became very clear that the biggest issues and concerns of our members are level tee boxes, better greens and better fairways. In the past month as Phase 1 is winding down, we have been given another gift of Phase 2. Phase 2 will allow us to complete the back nine. This work creates an enjoyable and interesting new 9 holes. Multiple tees from forward on thru to championship tees will allow everyone to choose the length that will challenge them while enjoying the course. New green complexes will present the short game shots we see on other courses and allow us to improve our skills. The goal is to have any work that is on the back fairways to be completed before the spring season. The rest of the work will be done in areas that will not affect us throughout the summer. The back nine is scheduled to be fully completed by fall 2016 Although it was very hard to see this season what actually was going to occur on holes 10, 16 and 17, this coming spring will tell all. Last week the brown mounds of dirt now are turning green and it is very exciting to see. As the renovation proceeds, please look for updates on our website as we will keep everyone posted on what is happening. Any questions, please feel free to contact any of the Board members or George.
