Thursday, January 15 th, 2015 Interval Classic Special Notes regarding Lake Louise Venue and the Event Race Start is 10:00 AM. The January 15 Th NorAm race in Lake Louise is a "test event" for the FIS World Cup on March 13, 2016. The Noram race will use the same course and distances as planned for the World Cup. The Noram and the World Cup races are new events for Banff National Park. The Organizing Committee (OC) is working closely with Parks Canada and Banff/Lake Louise Tourism as partners for the Noram and World Cup events to make these events go as smoothly as possible. As this event occurs in a National Park, there are certain restrictions and conditions that may not occur at a venue such as the Canmore Nordic Centre. We ask racers and team members to review these notes in preparation for the race. We will also be encouraging participant s comments and input as as to what changes or improvements may be necessary to facilitate the 2016 World Cup event. 1) Team Facilities All team waxing must take place in the Upper Parking Lot (see venue map). The OC will provide a 20' x 20' heated tent, but teams are encouraged to bring their own tents or trailers. 20 AMP electrical power outlets will be available from a 20kw portable generator. Direct access to the race course is possible from this team area. A location for athlete warming will be announced. There will be enough parking to support all teams. NOTE: As the race course crosses the upper parking lot access road, this road will be closed at 08:30 AM on both Training Day (Jan 14) and Race Day (Jan 15). All vehicles must therefore be in the upper parking lot prior to 08:30 on both days. 2) Race Office and Timing Facilities These will be located in the "Boathouse" on the lakeshore near the start/finish area on the lake. There are no athlete or coach facilities in this area. 3) Washrooms Port-a-potties will be provided and the public washroom in the lower parking lot will be available. 4) Event changes due to lake conditions It is quite possible that changes to the race course, including start/finish, may be necessary if conditions on the lake surface (water, slush) prohibit the planned course and stadium areas as shown on the maps. Worst case scenario will be to move the start/finish to the "middle" parking lot, and eliminate the lake portion of the course. This is unlikely, but possible, and may be a lastminute situation if lake conditions change in the last day or so before the race. 6
