Thank you for registering to participate in the Bay State Winter Games Figure Skating Competition. This packet will serve as your confirmation, and includes important competition information. If you have any questions are reading this packet please email info@baystategames.org Registration Information Athletes must arrive at least one hour prior to competition to register. Registration will be located on the left side of the rink after you enter the building. Athletes will receive their ID badge, T shirt, and turn in their competition music at registration. The athlete s ID badge is needed to gain admittance to specific areas and events during the weekend. The badge will also get all competitors into the Athlete Party and Figure Skating show on Saturday evening, February 21. Athletes should wear their ID badge at all times with the exception of when the skater is performing. ID badges are non transferable and may only be used by the athlete. Please note that for athletes attending the skate show and pizza party, credential pick up will closed on Saturday, March 21 at 4:00pm. You must pick up your credential by 4:00pm if you want to attend the show and party. Music Check In Requirements - CD-R Media is the only acceptable forms of media. No ipod s or mp3 s. - CDs must be clearly marked with the skaters name, flight number and music length. CD sleeves will be supplied by Bay State Games when athletes check in. - Each CD-R must have only ONE (1) track on it. - Lead in time (time before the music begins) on CD-R may not exceed two (2) seconds. - Due to compatibility and reliability reasons, music may NOT be submitted on re-recordable "CD-RW" discs - Competition music must be turned in at the registration desk at the time of registration. - CD(s) will be available for pick up at the Registration Desk at the conclusion of the event. - Skaters must have at least one (1) additional copy of their CD rink side during the competition - The LOC will accept no responsibility for damaged or lost CDs -Competitors who do not comply with these music requirements may not be allowed to compete. -In the event that music does not work, the Bay State Games has a specific policy that will be followed in the order listed below. No other alternatives will be allowed other than what is listed. We will move immediately through the following steps to avoid additional delays. 1. If the first cd does not work, the athlete can present a second CD for the main player. 2. If this does not work, CD 1 and 2 can be tried in a back up player tied to music system. 3. If this does not work, the cd can be played on a portable cd player that will be played through the PA system at the rink. 4. If this does not work, the athlete will skate with no music. 2

Dressing Areas: The dressing room is located next to the registration tables. Bathroom facilities are available in this room. Competitors must use the assigned locker room for changing and make-up, NOT PUBLIC BATHROOMS. The locker-room is only for your use when you compete. Athletes must not store their belongings in this room as all athletes will have access to the same room. Bay State Games and/or Williams College are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Competition Information Sanction Numbers The USFSA sanction number for the Bay State Games is 10866 The ISI Letter of Endorsement number 1-2449-2014 Schedule ISI and USFS schedules can be found at the following links USFS ISI The flight lists are NOT the skating order within that flight. The skating order for each flight will be posted at the rink during the event. USFS Judging System All USFS events during the competition will judged using the 6.0 scoring system. USFS Single Skater Flight Policy USFS skaters will be allowed to have a judged exhibition in flights with less than two skaters. Athletes currently listed in a single skater flight must notify our office if they do not plan to compete. If an athlete does not show up at the competition in Williamstown, which reduces a flight to a single skater, the remaining athlete will be offered a judged exhibition with no refund. Results Results will be posted throughout the competition on at the rink and online at baystategames.org. Score Sheets can be purchased for 50 cents at the registration table. Medals Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top-three finishers in each event regardless of state affiliation. Medals will be presented during ice making breaks between each series of flights. Award Jackets Gold medalists will be presented with a Bay State Winter Games award jacket from New Balance. Athletes who earn gold medals in more than one event will only receive one jacket. 3

The top three places, by state, in each event at the Bay State Games, will receive invitations to the State Games of America. For example, If a flight has 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd from Massachusetts, 4 th from New Hampshire and 7 th from Maine, all of these athletes will receive invitations to SGA. Athlete Pizza Party: When: Saturday, February 21 Where: Williams College Field House Time: 6:30pm - 7:30pm Special Events and Programs All athletes are invited to a complimentary pizza party (pizza, soda and cookies) on Saturday, February 21, prior to the skating show. The dinner will begin at 6:30pm. At 7pm, awards will be presented for the Banner Contest. At 7:15pm, all athletes will proceed to the show for the athlete procession. Athletes not attending the show must be picked up from the field house by 7:15pm. Banner Contest Each skating club is encouraged to bring a banner to the Athlete Party held at the Williams College Field House on Saturday, February 21 at 6:30pm. Banners will be judged during the evening and the clubs with the top-three banners will receive awards. All banners must be limited to fit on the hockey boards (no more than 3 ft. high by 10 ft. wide). Sportsmanship Program New Balance and the Bay State Games are proud to do their part in promoting and recognizing acts of good sportsmanship. We will recognize athletes who exhibit exemplary sportsmanship during competitions at the 2015 Winter Games. Scholarship Program The Future Leaders Scholarship annually awards six $2,000 college scholarships to Bay State Games athletes who demonstrate leadership through community service, academic excellence and athletic achievement. To be eligible for the 2015 scholarship, athletes must be in Grade 11 during the 2014-2015 academic year. For more information, or to apply, please visit http://www.baystategames.org/future-leaders-scholarship Athlete Services Photography / Videography A professional photographer and videographer will be on hand during the weekend taking pictures of participants and making them available for purchase. This is an added service that the Bay State Games provides to participants. It is not a benefit that is included with the entry fee. There is no guarantee that every participant will be photographed or videotaped. Participants will be able to purchase photos and videos on site. 5

Merchandise Fine Designs will be serving as the official merchandiser for the Figure Skating competition. They will offer a variety of artwork options as well as many garments to choose from including sweatshirts, pants, long sleeve shirts, etc. All garments can be customized with the athletes name, sports, etc. All merchandise purchases can be made on site. Bay State Games Souvenir Program The Bay State Winter Games Commemorative program will include photos, flight lists, schedules, previous year s results, a listing of show performers and other details. Programs will be available at the registration area for $5. Concession Stand Concessions will be open throughout the competition. Vendor Services Several vendors will be at the competition. 1. Hand Engravers (medal engraving and event pins) 2. US IceWear (skating apparel and accessories) 3. Northern Ice (skating apparel and accessories) 4. Tastefully Simple (convenient, ready to use food products) 5. Karin Eisenwinter (handmade skating clothing & bags) 6. Salon D (hair braiding and up do s ). It is recommended that athletes interested in getting their hair done sign up at the Salon D booth for an appointment to ensure a time slot. Debbie Melillo of Salon D is a local, licensed hair dresser. Appointments will begin at 7am each day. Athletes can call to set up an appointment in advance at 413-281-3979. 6

CUT HERE Practice Ice Eight practice sessions will be available at the Williams College Skating Rink. Athletes will be limited to one practice ice session until February 1. After February 1, skaters can purchase additional practice sessions if they are available. Practice ice sessions will be 25 minutes in length No more than 17 athletes per session The practice ice fee is $15 for a 25 minute session NO MUSIC at practice ice Practice ice fees are non refundable Practice ice is available on a first come, first served basis. Bay State Skate Figure Skating Show Saturday, February 21, 2014 7:30pm Williams College Ice Rink 7:30 pm (doors open at 6:45 p.m.) The cost is $10 per person. Family members and general spectators must purchase tickets to be admitted to the show. Each athlete will be allowed entrance to the show with their athlete ID Badge. Parents and family members may not use a skater s ID badge to gain access to show and must buy a ticket. Tickets will be available for sale at the registration table on all competition days. Participants who prep-paid for show tickets when they registered on line will pick up their tickets when they check in for competition registration. Athlete Procession To kick off the Bay State Skate Show, all Bay State Games athletes who are attending the skating show will march into the Williams College Rink and be ushered to a special seating area where they will watch the show. Assembly for the show will begin at 7:15pm in the Williams College Field House located directly next to the skating rink. Leading the procession will be the medal winners from all Friday and Saturday Bay State Games events. Athletes should wear their medals, award jackets and ID badge to the athlete assembly. Show Performers The Bay State Games Figure Skating show will feature top finishers from the USFSA New England Championships and ISI District Champions as well as a production team from the Christmas Brook Figure Skating Club. In addition, gold medal winners from the following Bay State Games events will be invited to skate in the show. USFS Senior Ladies Freestyle (Event 21) USFS Junior Ladies Freestyle (Event 20) USFS Novice Ladies Freestyle (Event 19) USFS Novice Ladies Test Track (Event 18) USFS Intermediate Ladies Free Unrestricted (Event 17) USFS Intermediate Ladies Free Restricted (Event 15) USFS Intermediate Ladies Free Restricted (Event 16) ISI Female Open Freestyle Gold (Event 30) ISI Female Open Freestyle Gold (Event 31) ISI Female Open Freestyle Gold (Event 32) ISI Female Open Freestyle Platinum (Event 35) ISI Female Open Freestyle Platinum (Event 36) Additional events may be added if spots become available for the show. Gold medalists will be provided with information on their order in the show, warm- up, etc, when they qualify. Athletes can perform a show routine instead of their competition number if they wish. Athletes should bring appropriate music and costumes so they are prepared to perform if invited. All athletes who participate in the show will receive two complementary show tickets and be invited to attend a post-show reception at the Williams Inn. 8
