Some are virtually falling asleep in class. No doubt the warm nights have contributed to this. Please keep your child at home if they are unwell or excessively tired. We want to see the children in a ready state for learning each day. Children need Boundaries!! From time to time it is healthy for all of us to review the boundaries and expectations that we have set in our homes. We are noticing more and more children coming to school who are not used to boundaries being set. This makes life very diificult for the teachers!! Have a look at the following list for discussion and review in your home: What are our family values - how do we live these out? Our school values focus on being respectful, being resolute and being responsible.how do we live these out at home and at school? What are the expectations of our children in our home? What are the consequences when these expectations are not met or are broken? How do we mean what we say and follow up accordingly? Do we have a time out space? How do we encourage/ reward our children? How do we practice positive manners? Do we sit down and discuss things as a family at the end of the day over tea? What are our rules around the use of devices and access to the internet? John Parson s ( NZ Internet safety expert says the World Health Organisation states no more than 3 hours a day screen time for primary aged children. How much screen time does your child have before school each day? How do we monitor access to the internet at home?
