Darcie Vincent www.goasu.com Head Coach First Season Duquesne 1992 Darcie Vincent became the seventh head coach in Appalachian State University history on April 24, 2008 after eight years as the head coach of California (Pa.), where she led the Vulcans to their firstever NCAA Division II national title in 2004. She boasts a career winning percentage of.723 with nine-straight winning seasons under her belt and 10 overall. Vincent s teams have won 20 or more games eight times, including each of the last seven seasons. The Vulcans fell just shy of that mark in her first season at the helm with a 19-10 record in 2000-01. We re excited to welcome Coach Vincent as the seventh women s basketball coach in Appalachian history, ASU director of athletics Charlie Cobb said. Her record as a player and coach speaks for itself and her energy and dedication is exactly what we were looking for in someone to lead our tradition-rich women s basketball program back to Southern Conference and national prominence. Vincent held a 212-47 record at California University and led the Vulcans to a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference title four times and posted four secondplace finishes in the conference as well. The Fairmont, W. Va. native was named the 2004 PSAC West and WBCA Regional Coach of the Year after leading the team to a 35-1 record and the national title. Her teams posted an 82-14 conference record under her tutelage. She coached at Slippery Rock for four years prior to her tenure at Cal U, and led the team to a PSAC title and the NCAA Division II Elite Eight in 2000. Vincent was 52-54 in her four years at Slippery Rock where she took the team to the NCAA Elite Eight in 1999-2000. Her mark of 23-7 that season stands as the most wins in school history. The team s three NCAA tournament wins came by an average of 15 points. 12

2008-09 Appalachian Women s Basketball She began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Duquesne, then spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Slippery Rock before taking over the head coaching reins for The Rock in 1996. In two years as an assistant under Laura Williges, Vincent helped The Rock to winning seasons of 21 and 14 wins. Vincent earned a bachelor s degree in business marketing (1992) and a master s in business administration (1994) from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where she was named all- Atlantic 10 three times and earned Kodak all-district honors as well. Catherine Kunz and Renee DeVarney coached the Dukes during Vincent s playing days. She left her mark in the school s record book, as she still ranks second in career steals (323), third in career scoring (1,538), assists (555) and free throws and ranks fourth in free throw percentage (.803) and career three point field goals (151). She holds the distinction as being the first female inducted into the Duquesne Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. The guard averaged 14.2 points per game for her career and more than 17 points per game her final three years as a player. Vincent resides in Boone, where she enjoys camping, golfing, hiking and mountain biking. Born: Darcie Vincent Date: March 18, 1970 Hometown: Fairmont, W. Va.
