Several pens over 215p/kg and to a top of 222p/kg for a pen of 44 kilos at 97.50 from the Stephen s Family of Burscott, followed by Mrs HE Tapp Jacobstowe, Okehampton at 221p/kg 48 kilos 106. 11 Pens realised 105 and over to a top of 109.80 for two pens of 51 kilos from Charles Bellew & Sons, Court Barton followed by the Stephen s Family of Burscott with a pen of heavies at 109.50. 365 DRAFT EWES & RAMS Smaller entry again met a very strong trade and more could have taken advantage of this trade. Several pens of heavy ewes around 100 and to a top of 112 from Tim Cowling of Trencreek, St Gennys. Mules topped at 81 and Hill breds saw Swaledales at 61.

Peter Denton of Lostwithiel saw his best British Blues to 535 and a fantastic run of 8 week old Aberdeen Angus s from Messrs RWH Dilling of Highampton topped at 360. Reared heifers saw a top call of 530 and 520 on behalf of Mr MB Davey of Hartland with others in from East Lydcott Farm at 490 and the best of a quality run from Kevin Parsons of Jacobstow hitting 370 for 8 weeks old. John Elliott and Family again hit the highlights with his Limousin heifers topping at 485 with others at 440, 410 and 405. In the baby calf pens trade was simply wonderful, top of the day was the Folk 2 Folk champion in from Messrs PH Collins Partnership of Winscott (as pictured) that raced away to a massive 500 and purchased by Messrs S Turner of Marhamchurch, other British Blues came from this wonderful farm at 470 and 455 only to be bettered by Messrs R & N Veale of Halwill at 485. Baby Limousin bulls topped at 450 for Messrs Furse of Ashwater and the best Herefords at 258 for Messrs Charman and 202 for Richard and Tracey Martin of Torrington for three week old calves. Holstein bulls saw a proper trade with the best reared Holsteins to 252 for Messrs TRD Griffin & Son closely followed by two of the best 6 week old Holsteins seen at Holsworthy for a long time hitting a massive 205. Russell Risdon of Camelford saw the best of his 20 Holstein stirks at 172 with another bunch at 170 and most of the 3 4 week old Black & Whites between 40-70. Baby heifers topped at 325 for British Blues 5 weeks old from Mike Hopper of Whitstone with Steve Pomeroy close up at 295 twice and Messrs Olde of Bude at 288. Top 10 bulls topped at 595 averaged 514 Top 10 heifers topped at 485 averaged 433 191 Calves inc Holsteins averaged 220

Prettymaid Cup A lighter entry this week due to the fabulous harvesting weather saw the bigger cattle in great demand with the overall top call of the day being 1190 for a nice Friesian steer from Messrs RL & MJ Allin of St Giles on the Heath with other Black and Whites in from Mr WW Brown of Pancrasweek at 920 and Paul Saunders of Halwill Junction at 900. Best British Blue steers came in from Messrs E Schuttkacker & Sons of Bere Alston hitting 930 heading off to Torrington with others from the same farm at 860. Top of the Limousin steers hit 810 whilst the best of the young Aberdeen Angus steers from Messrs FC & SJ Wade & Son of Bradworthy at 740. The best heifers on the day reached 1060 for Limousins in from Yeo Vale Farms near Bideford with 22 month old Aberdeen Angus heifers from Mr RL Parish at 820. Younger 13 14 month old Aberdeen Angus heifers from Messrs A & L Gifford of Milton Damerel topped at 690 with their run of 15 averaging over 630.
