The full name for this regional group is Nor Cal Bowhunters. They represent the areas 9 archery/bowhunting clubs and 3 archery pro shops to California Bowmen Hunters State Archery Association (CBHSAA). CBHSAA and Nor Cal are chartered to the National Field Archery Association (NFAA). What do Nor Cal and CBHSAA do for Archery or Bowhunting? There are many facets to their representation of Archery and Bowhunting. CBHSAA is Dedicated to Promoting and Protecting the Archery and Bowhunting Heritages. This statewide organization speaks for California Archers and Bowhunters in matters concerning Legislation and Regulation since 1943. The Legislative committee of CBHSAA includes a Coordinator, 6 state area reps and each region group has one legislative representative. Archery is a shooting sport so at times issues arise to limit or exclude the shooting of Bows and Arrows for any purpose. CBHSAA will pursue those actions for the benefit of all Archers and Bowhunters. The next Nor Cal meeting will be Wednesday January 9 th at Maya s clubhouse; 7pm. CBHSAA Petitions for moving the state broadhead championship to the weekend before Memorial day, adding a state marked 3D championship tournament and adding a traditional state championship tournament will be discussed and voted on. Adopting these changes wouldn t take place until FGC meeting in April. Next Wildlife Resources Committee meeting will be held January 10 th in Ontario. Agenda items have not been posted at this writing. CBHSAA annual meeting will be January 11-13 in Sacramento. Friday afternoon is the Legislative Committee meeting starting at noon. We will nominate at the December club meeting and vote all in at the January meeting along with the club budget. If any member would like to help out please come to the December club meeting and let us know. This is all voluntary and we could use the help. Nominations for officers: Vice President Class Secretary Newsletter Editor Senior Representative The Halloween Zombie shoot was a great success this year thanks to Vickie that spent many hours planning and decorating the range to help set the mood for shooting different items. We had 41 shooters attend this year. Of the 41 shooters 27 were guests, two were from San Francisco that saw the shoot advertised and were heading this direction anyway so through in their bows for the trip. All combined we collected $100.00 and 110 pounds of food for the Placer County Foodbank. I have a receipt if anybody needs it. We had some new things to shoot at this year and some of the original targets that seem to be popular. This year we introduced the flying bats. Rubber bats were hung on strings with fans blowing them around a bit. This added to the challenge of a stationary target. It was popular and will be back next year. Vickie introduced some eyeballs on strings to shoot, from what I was told, they exploded when you hit them. This explosion I don t think was intentional but the people seemed to really like it. There were talk about some moving targets next year powered by garage door openers, I hope this comes to pass as it sounds like a fun thing to try.
