The Sanya Open finale marks the fifth-straight SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medal match this season for Xue and Zhang. Xue and Zhang have captured two gold medals on the 2010 SWATCH FIVB World Tour at stops in Moscow in June and on the Finnish Isle of Aland in August. In winning the Aland gold medal match, Xue and Zhang snapped Brazilians Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca s 40- match winning streak. Before starting the streak, Juliana and Larissa lost a semi-final match to Xue and Zhang in Moscow. The next week in The Hague, Xue and Zhang lost the gold medal match to Maria Antonelli and Talita Antunes of Brazil. Xue and Zhang captured the bronze medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games by defeating Talita and Renata Ribeiro of Brazil in the third-place match. Xue and Zhang won four SWATCH FIVB World Tour gold medals, including two in 2006 at Shanghai and Thailand, and two in 2008 at Seoul and Moscow. Xue and Zhang rank fourth on the SWATCH FIVB World Tour (US$812,500). Xue and Zhang captured the 2006 Asian Games Beach Volleyball gold medal by defeating Eiko Koizumi and Shinako Tanaka of Japan 19-21, 21-11 and 15-13 for the title in Qatar.
