I hope the information in this packet answers most of your questions about finals. If you still have questions, feel free to drop me an email. Here is a list of what I have included: State Finals Entry Form Grade Form Good Luck Ad Form Adult Director and Youth Director/Officer Nomination Forms Farm Credit Academic Team Form Finals Schedule Your entry forms, along with the money, need to be turned in at by the Border Bash rodeo unless you are not competing. If you are not competing, it needs to be postmarked by April 26th. The final grade form is also required at this time. There will be no exceptions made. If you do not get everything turned in by this date, you will not be allowed to compete at finals. The good luck ads need to be turned in by the Border Bash rodeo. If any one is interested in holding a position as an adult director, as a youth event director or a youth officer, please complete one of the nomination forms. Please turn them in with your finals entries. We hold the elections at the meeting Saturday morning. All National Finals forms and fees have to be completed and paid on Sunday. If you finish the season in a top 4 placing, you will need to stay after the awards presentation to take care of National Finals Entries. Both parents need to sign the forms and they will have to be notarized. I will be able to notarize them for you but both parents much stay around until all the paper work has been approved. Congratulations!! You have qualified to compete in the KJHSRA State Finals Rodeo,. State Finals will consist of two long go-arounds and a final go-around. All contestants will compete in two long go s. The Finals short go, is for the top 15 contestants who have earned the greatest number of points during the entire year. This will be determined at the end of the 2 nd long go on Saturday night. State Finals Average Prize Winners will be the top contestants after two go-arounds of competition at the state finals. State Finals Average points will be determined and awarded on Sunday during the awards presentation. Year-End winners will be determined by the points brought into the finals plus all points earned at the Finals, (1 st go + 2 nd go + 3 rd go (short round) + average of the finals.) We will have Go-Around Winners, State Finals Champions, and Year-End Winners. The following is the point breakdown for the Finals: Maximum points possible to carry into the finals 80 First Go-Around points given to top 10 in 1 st go 10 Second Go-Around points given to top 10 in 2 nd go 10 Final Go-Around points given to top 10 in final go (short go) 10 Finals Average points given to top 10 after 3 rounds of competition 15 POINTS AVAILABLE AT STATE FINALS Place Each Finals Go-around Average 1 10 15 2 9 13.5 3 8 12 4 7 10.5 5 6 7.5 6 5 6 7 4 5 8 3 4 9 2 3 10 1 1.5 A brief explanation of our point system: We will have 14 rodeos this year. Contestants may carry in points from their best 8 rodeos (max 80 points). A maximum of 45 points can be earned during the three go-arounds and the average. Each of the three go-arounds is worth 10 points given to the top 10 individuals and the average is worth 15 points broken down as shown in the table. The balance of the points will be given to the top eight year-end winners in each event. An explanation of the payout at finals - Each of the go rounds are paid as a normal rodeo since entry fees are collected. However, the short go will have no payback.

In order for a KJHSRA member to be eligible to compete at the Kansas Jr. High School Rodeo State Finals, the student must be in good standing, and without undesirable misconduct at school. They must be enrolled in the 6 th, 7 th, or 8th grade the year preceding the State Finals that they are entering. They must be passing at least 70% of their classes taken. KJHSRA Academic Rodeo Team KJHSRA, along with The Farm Credit Associations of Kansas, recognizes students who maintain a high GPA at school along with their other activities, including rodeo. The top 5 in each class will be given shirts designating them as the 2017 ACADEMIC RODEO TEAM. Each contestant will need to complete the form below. An official transcript which states your cumulative GPA through and including your fall 2016 semester must be returned with this form. (Your school office should be able to help you with this. If you are in 7 th grade your GPA would include 3 semesters since the current semester is not complete yet.) You can return this form and official documents with your state entries at Guthrie.
