Verbatim Responses to Open Ended Question The following pages contain the respondents verbatim responses as entered in the web survey and have not been edited for spelling or grammar. Responses have been organized by coded alphabetical order. What is the first image that comes to mind when you think of Eagan? Nice place to live but DATED. Everything is starting to look so 80s. - ZERO uniqueness. Every restaurant and store is a huge chain. So disappointed in the new mall on Yankee Doodle and Pilot Knob. Thought it would be like the West End in St Louis Other than that, the most serious issue trying to hard? I don't know. Eagan is already pretty great. There's that blind S curve midway down the hill on the east side of Diffley between Pilot Knob and Lexington where someone died a couple years back. No one can see anyone coming the from the other direction until their near the top of the hill which is EXACTLY where the lane curves. If one of the drivers doesn't realize there's a curve they're going to drive straight into the wrong side of the road an maybe hit someone head on (again). It's mostly gone now, but I look at the scorched pavement where someone died every time I drive by. 4 lane suburban road A breath of fresh air A busy suburb A city that is trying to bring in more citizens and businesses. It's like come live here and you won't need to leave the city limits for anything. A clean, safe, well maintained community with beautiful views and excellent facilities near the airport and Mall of America. A community focused on economic development but has ignored the aging of the community and the differing needs that go along with that population. A decent assortment of wooded areas with insufficiently dense commercial and residential development and too little workforce housing... too much surface parking and impermeable surfaces and way too much algaeinducing runoff into lakes and ponds. But.. there is the potential to be better, which is a plus. A family friendly city with NO residential sidewalks. Kids playing in the streets seems to be the anthesis of what child safety is about in family friendly cities. a globe A good place to live A great city in which to live! A great community that people should be proud of to live in A great place to raise a family. A mainly white, conserative upper middle to upper class suburb. A neighborhood such as the one I grew up in near Chicago. A nice place to live where I feel safe during the day. A nice place to live with lots of nature. A picture of my house with green grass and flowers in a city that offers most of what I need for health, shopping and restaurants without having to leave Eagan...my home! A progressive community with a great mayor and city staff. Great schools. Public transportation is something that needs improvement. There are limited covered areas for bus riders to wait in. A safe and predominantly white (unfortunately) community. We need diversity! A sense of well being A tree A very tree-filled, green city for families A well diversified city in terms of business and residential. I think the planners do well keeping a variety which is good for resiliency in times of economic difficulties. I lived in Plymouth before and saw similarities, and c sided both successful commuities. A wonderful city to live in and have a thriving business in. Access to airport, Twin Cities, clean livable community Affordable middle class with good schools and low crime. 23

Aging community Air and vehicle traffic noise. Airplanes Airplanes Airplanes, All of the parks and trails. Ample parks for kids. An excellent place to live. An I oasis of sanity. Average boring well run suburb at first glance. More to offer upon review. Awesome city. Awesome place to raise a family! Beautiful and friendly park Beautiful city, proud to call it my home Beautiful green spaces. beautiful hills, woods, parks, ponds and lakes or on the other hand-the Outlet Mall or the new HyVee shopping area Beautiful parks Beautiful place to live, growing and thriving city Beautiful streets with lots trees. We love Eagan so much. Just need more affordability on the housing, rent is super high. Beautiful, easy to access and plasent. Actually love it. Beautiful, safe place to live and raise a family. Great education system. Lot of opportunity for outdoor recreation. Behind the times of forward thinking Big city conveniences with small town feel. I don't however like all the retail being built. It is too much. Big oak trees Bigger city with a small town feel! blah Blue and green Blue and Green Boring Broccoli trees on water towers Bu Bulldozers and natural area destruction. Build to the same tacky tacky as every other city. Bustling, diverse suburb Cars and trees Cascade bay Cascade Bay Cedar ave bridge Central Park Chain restaurants Change Children at play. We've lived here 18 years, raised three sons here, and at first we felt Eagan to be overly affluent/separatist/elitist and not very welcoming. These days there are more and more families with young children in our neighborhoods adding tothe joyfulness of the community and keeping it vibrant. We are happy to pay taxes which keep Eagan schools excellent, the parks clean and safe, and our property values relevant. City Hall City life w/ suburban feel City of parks Classic suburban area with broad streets and rolling hills Clean Clean 24

Clean clean Clean and caring city Clean and well planned! Clean city Clean friendly but not very diverse Clean safe great city to live Clean, lots of trees, foreword moving. Clean, quiet community Clean, safe, bountiful yet reserved (good old midwest reserve) community. Clean, well located suburban community with good schools, parks and overall quality of life. Cleanliness and green space. Close proximity Clouds and trees. Peaceful. Comfort Comfortable Comfortable Comfortable, convenient, and hassle-free place to live -- easy access to both downtown St. Paul & Minneapolis, the airport, Mall of America. And, of course, we have a million grocery stores. But kind of boring at the same time. Everyone seems to go elswhere when going out in the evenings or on the weekends, so we don't see people out and about like we used to. So we end up going to Edina a lot, which gets me thinking about how Eagan could capture some of that same magic. I don't think people from Edia are coming out to Eagan to hang out. And, not gonna lie, Hyvee, Marshall's, and Men's Warehouse are all kind of junky. None of my friends who have lived here with me for 25+ years are the least bit interested in that new development -- except maybe Puch Pizza. Everyone I've talked to says they've visited Hyvee once and won't be going back that way. Kind of bummed all that awesome land wasted on icky, boring stuff. Community Community Center Community, art, and nature! Eagan is a beautiful blend of so many different things, but those are my top three things that come to mind! Community. Conservative, white suburb Conservative. Convenience convenient Could use more of a community feeling Decent Decent place to live. Hey, I didn't even know about Cascade Park or MarketFest and I've been living here since 2010. I must not pay enough attention to the newsletter. Neighborhood is safe. Driving on Cliff Road, going east after exiting from Hwy 77... ugh! Looks unplanned, unwelcoming, all about vehicle traffic with sidewalks that no one uses. It doesn't even have one sign that says, welcome to Eagan. So many missed opportunities. Lebann Park is along Cliff and is an amazing park! We love it but there are no safe routes to access the main entrance at Schultz Beach except for by driving... please work with the State of MN and Dakota County to link bike routes from the SE corner to the N corner of Eagan. For twelve years we have wished that the train tracks, running along Hwy 3, would be removed and converted to a path. Lately, we rarely hear or see a train. The rail bed would be an awesome link to Rosemount plus provide an alternate, safe path for biking and walking. Thank you for all your extra efforts! Eagan is a prime location, as a suburb. Eagan is a vibrant, progressive and advanced community. Eagan water tower. Which was actually just removed. Easy access to both major cities while filled with green space & recreation Easy to get around with cars Educated, environment-supporting, families Energy 25
