Introduction Welcome to the fourth edition of MITAS 4 ISLANDS MTB Stage Race! Be prepared to experience wonderful sceneries and breath-taking views mixed with pain and pleasure at each of the stages. This is the race guide for you girls and guys that choose "RACE ONLY" package. We see you as people that like to spend time searching the internet and have fun while trying to find the most appropriate accommodation, measure the distance from an island to an island, calculate how much time you need to get there and make best of your time during and after race. If this is true for you, we hope this comprehensive guide will help you make your experience as easy and memorable as possible. Please, study this guide before the race and we look forward to spending 4 incredible days on 4 incredible islands with you! Registrations for the race Registration desk will be open one day before the race and in the morning before the start of the first stage. Registration is possible in teams only. Both participants have to present themselves at the registration desk. Start numbers will be given to you only if you bring a signed PERSONAL WORKSHEET!3

Bike repair A top-class service will be provided by Giant Croatia, the official sponsor of the Mitas 4 Islands MTB Stage Race. If you want to have your bike serviced, you should request it at the bike depot while handing your bike. We also advise you to do it as soon as possible after the race stage. Serviced bikes can be collected at the bike depot 60 minutes before the start of each stage at the latest and can be handed for service immediately after the finish of each stage. Bike service and bike parts will be available one day before the first stage as well as throughout the race. All services will be provided on site, including fork & shock services, wheel building and tuning, tubeless conversions, etc. The following spare parts will be available: tires, tubes, wheels, wheel axles, chains, cassettes, chainrings, cranks, shifters, derailleurs, cables, cable hoses, lubes, brakes, brake pads and disc rotors, brake hose and oil handlebars, grips, seat posts, saddles, water bottles and bottle cages, helmets, and hydro(back) packs. PLEASE make sure to bring any equipment that is peculiar to your bike such as derailleur hangers, quick links, etc. There will be a service point at each feed zone with an experienced mechanic and basic replacement parts available (including spare tires) to repair your bike and get you to the finish line. The service at the feed zones is free of charge but any spare parts used will be charged. Bike repair service is not included in the starting fee and all costs must be settled when collecting the bike. If you have had your bike serviced and/or parts used/installed, please make sure to pay for them at the end of the day or in the early morning of the next day. Otherwise you will not be able collect your bike from the bike depot and start the next race stage. Repair shop will accept cash payments in EURO and Croatian KUNA as well as credit card payments. 10.4.2018: BAŠKA, THE ISLAND OF KRK 14:00-20:00 11.4.2018: BAŠKA, THE ISLAND OF KRK after the stage: 12:30-18:00 12.4.2018: LOPAR, THE ISLAND OF RAB after the stage: 13:30-18:30!5

13.4.2018: MERAG, THE ISLAND OF CRES after the stage: 13:30-17:50 Daily briefings Daily briefings will be held in the evening hours after each stage on three locations: Hotel Corinthia in Baška (10 April & 11 April), Hotel Sahara in Lopar (12 April) and Hotel Vespera in Mali Lošinj (13 April). Briefings are to last approximately 45 minutes and provide you with detailed information regarding the following stage. Any changes regarding the stages and transfers that can occur due to sudden new circumstances will also be communicated in these briefings. 10.4.2018: BAŠKA, THE ISLAND OF KRK 20:00 hotel Corinthia, congress hall "Lavanda" - briefing for the Stage 1 11.4.2018: BAŠKA, THE ISLAND OF KRK 20:00 hotel Corinthia, congress hall "Lavanda"- briefing for the Stage 2 12.4.2018: LOPAR, THE ISLAND OF RAB 20:00 hotel Sahara - briefing for the Stage 3 13.4.2018: MALI LOŠINJ, THE ISLAND OF LOŠINJ 20:00 hotel Vespera - briefing for the Stage 4 Welcome drink & Press conference Feel free to join us at the opening press conference and enjoy with us the latest race announcements and interviews with elite riders, sponsors and racers from all over the world. After the conference we will serve welcome drinks and continue to chitchat in good company. The press conference and welcome drinks will be organised at Hotel Corinthia - Baška at 18:00 on 10 April. Luggage Upon registration each participant will receive a luggage and hand luggage label with adequate straps which needs to be attached on the bags.!6

There is no luggage transfer available in the race-only package. The organizer will provide for the transfer of one piece of hand luggage which is properly labeled. Hand luggage can be handed over at hand luggage drop-off point at the beginning of the stage and will be delivered to you after each stage at the finish area. The term hand luggage refers to a bag with maximum capacity of 25 litres. GPS Some parts of the route on islands are passing over private property and race gained exclusively right to pass. Riding through the route outside the race at Shepherd's paradise (route Lubenice - Ustrine) is not allowed and no rider may distribute any GPS co-ordinates in respect of the Race route at any time (including but not limited to, uploads onto online platforms such as Strava), unless expressly authorized in writing by the organisers or property owner. Winner ceremonies & Finisher party After each stage the organizer will hand out awards to stage winners in each category in a stage winners award ceremony. The exact schedule is difficult to predict since it depends on winners time for each category. Hence this is an indicative timetable for each stage. Stage winners award ceremony will be held at: Stage 1-14:30 Stage 2-14:30 Stage 3-15:00 Stage 4-14:30 After each stage the organizer will provide leader's jersey in all categories. They will be handed out to riders during the briefing for next stage. The overall winner ceremony will be held after the Stage 4 at the finish area and it is obligatory for all winners. It will be held in: Sunčana uvala on 14 April 2018 at 17:15 The finisher s party is open to all participants, regardless of whether they have completed the race or not. It will be held at Race Base 3 - Sunčana uvala (Hotel Vespera, the island of Mali Lošinj). For us, organizers, this is the time to meet you in a more relaxed atmosphere. It is also an opportunity to exchange our experiences and stories and communicate our passion for bikes and racing.!7

Free drinks for all riders will be served from 21:00 to 23:00. Meals During all stages, meals for participants will be served approximately 30 minutes after first finishers enter the finish area and will end 15 minutes after the time limit for the stage. Photo service Photo service of participants during the race will be provided by Spotograf. Based on you starting number you will be able to buy your photos in full resolution. Parking A separate parking for private cars/campers is generally not provided to race participants during the race. You are responsible for compliance with local parking regulations. At The start of Stage 3 (Island Cres - port Merag) organisator will offer parking and transport package for this stage especially. Package will include: ensured parking at Merag - parking will be marked. It is located approximately 2 km from ferry port. Please follow the road and signs. shuttle transport of 1 person (no bike) from Osor (finish point of the stage) to Merag (starting point of the stage). Package can be bought at race registration on spot at Race Base 1 - Baška (30 EUR)!8

Logistics overview In further chapters we will give you an overview of entire logistical information with all possible connections between islands. Gaining information and planning schedules is a task of every team. You should plan your trip in line with your preferences, possibilities and accommodation booking/reservations. We would strongly suggest having a third person in your team, a supporter who will help you with transfers and arrangements during the race. It will be very hard to arrange for everything without them. The race itself has 3 stationary bases: RACE BASE 1 : Baška (hotel Corinthia, island Krk) RACE BASE 2 : Lopar (hotel Sahara, island Rab) RACE BASE 3 : Sunčana uvala (hotel Vespera, island Mali Lošinj) Stage to Stage Logistical challenges that emerge from the fact that you are participating in a race on four Adriatic islands which are not all connected with direct lines can be considerable, but at the same they will offer you an opportunity to find out more information and explore the region in more detail. Traveling on ferries between islands is a beautiful experience, but to do it on time, while participating in a race can be hard. That is why we would like to present the best options and guidelines on how to do it. Please take the following information on ferry transport into account: Travelling across the sea depends on weather conditions. Due to various circumstances and ship captains judgements related to safe navigation, changes and cancelations in the timetable are possible at any given moment (in case of strong wind, big waves etc). Bear in mind the possible queues when buying a ferry ticket; you should arrive at least an hour before the ferry departs as you are using regular lines. The price of a ferry ticket depends on the type of a vehicle. Persons are charged individually and bikes as well if they are not mounted on/in a car.!9

Here is an overview of ferry lines and all possibilities when traveling from stage to stage. RACE OVERVIEW MAP NOTE: These are options to be considered. It is up to every participant and their team to choose the type and the time of transfers in line with their preferences and accommodation bookings!10

STAGE 1 KRK STAGE 2 RAB ISLANDS: Krk to Rab DEPARTURE PORT: Valbiska PORT OF ARRIVAL: Lopar TRAVEL TIME: aproximately 75 minutes Getting from Race Base 1 (Baška) to Race Base 2 (Lopar), namely from island Krk to island Rab, you can take into consideration 2 options: OPTION 1 This is the option we recommend since it means you will use a direct ferry connection between the islands of Krk and Rab. If you choose this option, please look the race overview map and the following directions: 1. transport from Race base 1: Baška to Valbiska ferry port - 33km 2. Ferry line: Valbiska (Krk) - Lopar (Rab) - 75min 3. Arrival to Race Base 2: Lopar (Rab) WEB LINK FERRY SCHEDULE (JADROLINIJA)!11

OPTION 2 This option includes traveling back to the mainland and driving along the coast to the place called Stinica. Stinica is a ferry port. The ferry line connects the island of Rab and the mainland. If you choose this option, please look the race overview map and the following directions: 1. Transport Race base 1: Baška (Krk) - Stinica - 133 km 2. Ferry line: Stinica - Mišnjak (Rab) - 15min 3. Mišnjak (Rab) - Race Base 2: Lopar (Rab) - 22 km WEB LINK FERRY SCHEDULE (RAPSKA PLOVIDBA)!1 2

STAGE 2 RAB STAGE 3 CRES This is the second time we move the whole set-up from RACE BASE 2 to RACE BASE 3, namely from Lopar to Merag. This is logistically most challenging day. Cres is the only stage within the race which is a transit route - so the start and finish are located 50 kilometres one from another! Additionally, after the finish in Osor, you should proceed to Veli Lošinj, to RACE BASE 3 which is located 20 kilometres from the finish line in Osor, if you have a supporter to pick you up. Reaching the island of Cres from Rab can be done in two ways. We recommend option A which includes 2 ferry transfers: Option A: Island Rab and island Cres are not connected with ferry line directy. That means you will need go to island Krk and from Krk to Cres. Here is overview of ferry lines and time table: FERRY TRANSFER 1 FERRY TRANSFER 2 ISLANDS: Rab to Krk DEPARTURE PORT: Lopar PORT OF ARRIVAL:: Valbiska TRAVEL TIME: aproximately 75 minutes ISLANDS: Krk to Cres DEPARTURE PORT: Valbiska PORT OF ARRIVAL: Merag TRAVEL TIME: aproximately 20 minutes!13

When you reach the mainland you can follow the coast to the spot where you can cross the bridge (bridge toll applies) to the island of Krk and proceed to Valbiska ferry port where you can get on a ferry to Cres on the ferry line Valbiska-Merag. FERRY TRANSFER 1 FERRY TRANSFER 2 ISLANDS: Rab to Mainland DEPARTURE PORT: Mišnjak PORT OF ARRIVAL: Stinica TRAVEL TIME: aproximately 15 minutes Take a look at race overview map and following directions: 1. Race base 2: Lopar (Rab) - Mišnjak (Rab) - 25 km 2. Ferry line: Mišnjak - Stinica - 15min 3. Stinica - Senj - Crikvenica - Valbiska (island Krk) - 115 km 4. Ferry line: Valbiska (Krk) - Merag (Cres) - 25 min ISLANDS: Krk to Cres DEPARTURE PORT: Valbiska PORT OF ARRIVAL: Merag TRAVEL TIME: aproximately 20 minutes FERRY TRANSFER 1 WEB LINK FERRY TRANSFER 1 - SCHEDULE (SERVICE PROVIDER: RABSKA PLOVIDBA)!14

Passing over the bridge is free of charge (NO toll) for all types of vehicles.!15
