Senior All Star Bowling Association Out on the Twig Volume 15, Issue 8 April 11, 2005 INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Enid Info 2 Ft. Worth M/M Info 2 Tomball Results 5-6 2005 Schedule (Notice changes) 3 SASBA SC 4 Red Hat Info 4 Tournament & Executive Director: President: Jamie Brooks Rick Talley Vice Presidents: Richard Britton David Zappitelli Secretary: Mark Estes Internet Manager: C.J. Johnson Director at Large: Robert Gibbs General Counsel: Marshall Medlin SASBA South Central Dir: Jim Kimg ROUNTREE & FRANCIS David Rountree captured the Ebonite Senior Tour Super Senior tournament in Tomball. Gene Rivers was a distant second, Charlie Hufford third, Tip Bullock fourth, and Ben Edwards was fifth. Dennis Francis was back in form, winning the Senior tournament. Bob Glass was second, Pete McCordic third, Jim King fourth, and Jim Ensminger finished fifth. The pocket was not hard to hit from both sides. If the corners would have been easily Jamie s Tournament Notes Ed Kilcullen edged Ernie Beltz 123 to 124 for low game of the tournament to win the dog of the week award. Dan Saenz left the lily. Three hundreds were rolled by Rick Minier, Dale Dumbleton, and Ben Edwards, none of them were using an Ebonite Ball. Ebonite is giving a $100 for every 300 game rolled in SASBA with their balls. Kirk Harper started one game with a ten bagger and left a stoned 5 pin, yes a 5 pin. Bill Smith won a match in the finals. Jamie Brooks and Stan Workman both had SW minus ones. Someone saw Ron Depolo hook the ball. He was using an Ebonite Big Time. knocked down, the scores would have been gigantic. Like Dale Dumbleton who was minus 17 with three games to go, reeled off an 837 for the next three and said he bowled just as good the first five games. Our next tournament will be in Enid, Oklahoma. The lane and squad assignments will be drawn on the Wednesday morning before the tournament. If you need a certain squad or you are traveling with someone and need to bowl on the same squad, please indicate that on your enrty and we will accommodate you. The meeting will start at 8:15 AM. A Squad will start at 9:30 AM bowl eight games, the lanes will be stripped and oiled, B Squad will start at 2:15 PM. On Sunday the low half will start at 8:30 AM, the top half will start at 10:45 AM. The lanes will be stripped and oiled for the finals. See ya there!!!!!!!!!!!! Bob Glass was moaning about not being able to carry the ten pin. How do you finish second without carrying the ten. Zap got another new name. Stan was good. Dick Smith lamented that Robert Gibbs and John Sands had the widest pocket ever, bet he has not looked in the mirror!!!!!

IT WAS SPRINGTIME IN TOMBALL! Page 4 Thirteen Red Hatters gathered in Tomball last Saturday to celebrate Spring. We were greeted at the bowling center by our gracious Hostess, Renae Crouch, with adorable, hand-made invitations (that can also be used as bookmarks) From there we caravanned to the Whistle Stop Tea Room (no one has gotten lost in a long time) to enjoy a delicious luncheon. Some of us managed to sneak in a little pre-lunch shopping. The food was really good, but the best item on the menu for the day was laughter. Renae had a fun game for us to play that involved high-heeled shoes, pantyhose, buttons, curls, pearls and morning kisses from your husband. Bettie Sands won big time with sixty points. I did overhear some ladies chastising their husbands later that their failure to kiss them good morning had cost them twelve points! It was lots of fun and Bettie won a precious Red Hat Dol. Alene Hensley, our lone Pink Hatter in attendance, won the door prize. As luck would have it, the prize turned out to be a beautiful cake plate and server adorned appropriately with pink roses. A big thanks to our door prize donor who provides us with these wonderful gifts. Donna Smith was the winner of the Lady Bug Award for being the first person to RSVP for our Tomball event. The Lady Bug Award for May will go to the fifth person to RSVP for our May event. Your memory impaired Queeie almost forgot to present our Hostess with a much deserved thank-you gift. Renae had foot surgery this past week but still managed to host a great event with an orthopedic boot on one foot and a smile on her face. She even provided us with special after-dinner mints. We had other walking wounded Charleen Schneider was also sporting an orthopedic boot; Patricia Paine was there and we were all so glad to see her smiling face; Jan Colaluca was there, feeling much better and looking great, but with some continuing problems; and your poor old Queenie is still walking like Chester on Gun Smoke! Just proves that NOTHING keeps Red Hatters from having a good time. Our next event will be in Ft. Worth on Saturday, May 7, hosted by Cecelia Garcia. I think it is supposed to be a secret, but I did overhear something about a Cinco de Mayo celebration. More details will be forthcoming about this event, but be sure to mark your calendars and plan to attend. Our June event will be hosted by Bettie Sands in Shreveport on Saturday, June 4. More details to follow. Red Hatting Keeps you Smiling! Queenie Jeanne Jeane Addington 3004 Tower Drive Tyler, TX 75701 Phone: 903-566-8766 Fax: 903-566- SASBA SOUTH CENTRAL Jim King Director 2293 E.
